The Penton Times: A Vampire Goes Over the Fiscal Cliff

What is this (bleep) about fiscal cliffs, playing chicken with people's lives? Those (bleep)tards in Washington need to sit down at a table with dudes stationed outside with guns....
No, better idea.
They sit down at a table, both parties, and I personally stand at the only exit to the room, holding my sword. They cannot pass go. They cannot pass insults. They cannot pass water. They cannot take a (bleep). They cannot eat. They cannot drink. They ca...

Scene Snippet Sunday: Omega--Will meets Dr. Slayer

First, sorry about going AWOL on the Penton Times this past week. Ye Olde Day Job kind of imploded on Monday and the whole week was a bit of a nightmare. Things don't look to settle down anytime in the next few months, but I'll muddle through and will try to keep the Penton Times coming so m...

Vampire One-Upmanship: A Scene from Omega

In this scene, Randa has managed to slip up on Will without him hearing her--unusual--and has a gun to the back of his head. It's hard to get one over on Will, however...

PENTON TIMES: A Vampire Enjoys Black Friday

I freakin' love Black Friday. It's an event perfectly suited to vampires, and in fact, a bunch of us from Penton usually drive over to Atlanta to hit the sales that start at midnight. Things in Penton are kind of unsettled this year, obviously, and Mirren told me he'd pull out my eyelashes one at a time if I even thought about it, and Aidan said he'd watch.
Obviously, those old ladies have no sense of style. Aidan doesn't buy his own clothes and I'd h...

PENTON TIMES: Vampire Talks about Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving isn't a day we celebrated back in Ireland during my day. The big harvest festivals were our fall gatherings and then, of course, Christmas--although that was nothing like the modern American holiday.
But I like the idea of Thanksgiving. Because even though Penton is having its problems right now, I have hope we'll survive this. So here's what I'm thankful for this year:
--My mate. Krys made me feel whole again after four centuries of self...

THE PENTON TIMES: A Vampire Talks about General Petraeus

I just don't (bleep)ing get it. I know I'm not technically a U.S. citizen, but I've lived here longer than any of you humans so I get to have an opinion.
I have lots of opinions.
So, the head of the CIA had an affair. Did he endanger national security? Looks like the answer is no.
So who the (bleep) cares? What the (bleep)ing business is it of mine who this dude does or doesn't (bleep) in his spare time?
Don't you people have more serious issues? The...

THE PENTON TIMES: 5 Favorite New Orleans Cocktails
By Will Ludlam, as told to Susannah Sandlin
I love New Orleans--there are lots of beautiful women with lowered inhibitions and, hey, I'm still a young, virile, single vampire. (I figure I have until February, right?)
It's my understanding that New Orleans has the best cuisine to be found anywhere, but I'm a vampire. How the hell would I know? But vampires can drink, and did you know the cocktail was invented in New Orleans? I can't swear it's true but legend has it the first cocktail was mixed...

THE PENTON TIMES: A Tactical Assault on New Orleans
by Mirren Kincaid, as told to Susannah Sandlin.
I don't like New Orleans. It's a (bleeping) nuthouse. The street grids make no sense. There are too many alleys and dead-ends for people to hide in. And there are people freaking EVERYWHERE. It's a (bleep)ing zoo.
So, Will and I had to go to New Orleans recently to, well, let's just say we had an urgent job to complete that involved casing a compound located in the area locals call uptown. We studied satellite images of the house, a three-story nu...

THE PENTON TIMES: Vampires in New Orleans: How Did They Ever Get In?
by Aidan Murphy, as told to Susannah Sandlin:
How long have vampires been in New Orleans? I lived briefly in the city in the late 1700s, and I was far from the first vampire to make my home there. Those were solitary times, and my kind rarely formed scathes so we didn't compare stories. Finding human feeders was easy in the dark alleys of the old streets. It was a dangerous, wild place.
Here is the story I heard in a pub one night, about how my kind first came to the city.
