Twas the Night Before Christmas with the Penton Vampires
Twas the night before Christmas, when throughout Penton townAll the creatures were stirring, vampires all around.
The vamp-traps were set in all buildings with care,
In case Matthias they had to ensnare.
The familiars were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of vampire love danced in their heads.
And Randa in her camo, and Will in his cap,
Had just settled down with a new iPad app.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
Aidan sprang from his chair to see what was the matter.

Scene-Snippet Sunday: OMEGA, Penton Legacy Book 3
Welcome to scene-snippet Sunday, when I run a piece of a scene from a work in progress or upcoming release. Today, another snippet from Omega, book three in the Penton Legacy series, due out on February 5.
This book is Will Ludlam's story, so it's a fitting time to put in another plug. Will is nominated for Most Memorable Sidekick at the Grave Tells 2012 Reader's Choice Awards--he's getting his butt kicked (which he doesn't like), so he needs your vote! While you're there, vote for me for Most...

Update: Most Promising New Author--Susannah Sandlin
Thanks to DavinciKitty at
Grave Tells
for nominating me as Most Promising New Author in the site's 2012 Reader's Choice Awards. Today, book blogger extraordinaire Kim (of Kimba the Caffeinated Reviewer) is my representative in the New Author Spotlight today. Hope you'll stop by and show some love!
Stay tuned for voting info on Friday. I'm also nominated for "Most Engaging Author" (which I think basically translates as "nice person"), and Will Ludlam is nominated for "Memorable Sidekick" in the...

Most Promising New Author? Why not?
As I noted yesterday, the nice folks at Grave Tells have nominated Will Ludlam from my Susannah Sandlin Penton Legacy series as
Most Memorable Sidekick
in their 2012 Reader's Choice Awards.
And, I learned this morning (thanks, Roger!), I'm up for both Most Promising New Author and Most Engaging Author --woo hoo! I'll be boring you with more details on this as the first voting date approaches on 12-21.
This is particularly gratifying given a recent Amazon review of Absolution, and I quote....

Scene-Snippet Sunday: Omega and Time to Vote!
If it's Sunday, it must be time for a scene-snippet!
First, though, Will Ludlam has a message for you: He's been nominated for Most Memorable Sidekick for 2012 at the Grave Tells website and is quite pleased that he didn't see Mirren, Aidan, or Cage anywhere on that list. You can find the list of character categories here . Voting starts on Friday the 21st and runs through Friday the 28th. I'll put voting URLs when they're available!

"Property of Penton" Giveaway!
I'm over at fellow Montlake author Marina Adair's blog today, taking part in her
12 Days of Christmas
event and talking about, among other things, who I might cast as Glory and Mirren in Absolution.
There's a US/Canada gift associated with the blog, but I'll also do a private commenter prize of either a CD/mp3 audiobook of Absolution (for international readers, the mp3 should play on your computer or wherever you can play audio files) or a T-shirt that says: "Property of Penton Vampires, Pento...

Scene-Snippet Sunday: Meet Cage Reynolds of Omega
First off, I got a nice little surprise in the mail this week--some audiobooks of Absolution. I have both audio CDs and MP3 versions...so I'll be collecting comments this week to win a few of these. There's a new reader for this one than for Redemption, and I think her voice is better suited to the story. I'd still like a male reader for these, but it's kind of cool to have audiobooks at all, right?
Not sure anyone would be interested in hearing me blather on about writing and such but if so,...
