Some time ago, the very lovely Rhoda Baxter asked us Romaniacs if one of us wanted to read and review her new book due out in March, Having A Ball. We were sent the blurb and I fell in love with the story straight away. I practically jumped at the chance to do a review for it so I was honored when Rhoda emailed it over and my computer beeped its arrival.

It’s launch day for Having a Ball!

If I’m sounding like I’m hyper excited, it because I am. Publishing the first book was incredible and it moved me from being a writer to an author. Publishing a second book makes me feel like I’ve grown up a bit more.

Here’s the cover, in case I haven’t been going on about it often enough in the last couple of weeks:

Having a Ball

You can buy it for Kindle from Amazon or for any other eReaders from Uncial Press.

Any shares, likes, tweets, hugs, gifts of chocolate would be very much appreciated!

Sri Lankan party food – #4 Sweet coconut pancakes

Carrying on with the recipes of the Transatlantic Pot Luck party, here’s my recipe for coconut treacle pancakes.I love, love, love these pancakes.I dream of them sometimes. Once, when I was living inthe House in Norham Gardens, my mum brought me some. My Ghanian housemate offered to cook me dinner for a whole week in exchange for one. That, my friends, is how delicious these pancakes are.

Oh, and if you’re curious to see what my writing (or Trish’s writing) is like, you can download the preque...

Sri Lankan Party food #3 – Seeni sambol (caramelised onions)

‘Caramelised onions’ is a bit misleading. It conjures up sweet and tangy flavours, maybe something that goes nicely with cheese. Seeni sambol’s main reason for being popular is that it blends the sweet and tangy oniony flavours with chili. The best seeni sambol is eye-wateringly hot. It still goes nicely with cheese.

Seeni Sambol (recipe frominfolanka.com)

1 lb onions, sliced finely (red onion is best, regular onions work as well)

1/4 lb maldive fish pieces (optional)

3-4 tbsp chilli powder

a spri...

Hi Serena, welcome to Inheritance Books. Tell me a bit about yourself.

Serena in colour 17-10-12Hi – and thanks so much for having me today!

My first book All Over the Place is probably best described as contemporary romantic fiction, with a chick lit feel. It’s set mostly in and around London, with scenes in New Zealand and Paris. (Because who needs an excuse to send their characters to Paris?)

Like Livi, the book’s heroine, I’ve b...
