Inheritance Books – one year on; A great big thank you!

I had originally intended to run the feature only for 1 year, but it’s been so successful and I’ve had so much fun meeting people, that I’ve decided to keep going with it until you or I get bored of it.

It seems traditional to do some sort of look back at this point. So here are my favourite Inheritance Books posts:

The funniest post was Jane Lovering’s post. I started giggling when she said she stopped growing up, but kept gr...

Goodreads Book Review – The Elephant Girl by Henriette Gyland

I love the cover of this book and the title. I really enjoyed Henriette Gyland’s Up Close, so I was always going to read The Elephant Girl. When I saw it on special offer on Kindle, I jumped at the chance to read it. (It’s still on sale for 99p, by the wayI’m not sure when the offer ends. Yes, I did read it really quickly. It would impossible not to).

The mystery at the core of the book is compelling. Helen witnessed her mother’s murder, but she’s beginning to wonder how reliable a witness a 5...

Goodreads Book Review – A Stitch in Time by Amanda James

I picked up a Stitch in Time when it was on special offer on Kindle. I liked the idea that it was billed as ‘inspired by Dr Who’.

I enjoyed the book a lot. I thought it was more along the lines of Quantum Leap (Scott Bakula! Oh boy!) than Dr Who. The historical parts of the book were so wonderfully observed that the modern day stuff seemed pallid in comparison (although they were funnier). It was as though a set of brilliant historical novels had collided with a fairly good chick lit novel. Th...

Inheritance Books – Grace Burrowes

This week’s Inheritance Books are from the romance novelist Grace Burrowes.

Hi Grace, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please tell us a bit about yourself.

authorphotos005Before I attempted to write romance, I read it, sometimes at the rate of a book a day, for thirty five years. Romance novels have towed me over more shoals, as a mom, a child welfare lawyer, a woman, a person, than any other coping mechanism save perhaps really good chocolate. I believe we need the happily ever afters, we need the relief from l...

News: Two good excuses to eat chocolate

Today’s book trade announcements carried this announcement from Choc Lit http://www.booktrade.info/index.php/showarticle/48820/

Which means that I am now officially contracted to Choc Lit. So are Laura James and Alison May – both of whom are friends of mine from the RNA. Hooray for all three of us!

Now, I’ve been published before, obviously, but this super duper exciting for me because my next book, Dr January, will be coming out in paperback. An actual PAPER book. Now at last my mum will be ab...

Inheritance Books – Toby Frost

I’m a big fan of Space Captain Smith, so I was absolutely over the moon when Toby Frost agreed to do an Inheritance Bookspost. For those who aren’t in the know, Toby writes steampunk flavoured sci-fi comedies. They are full of swashbuckling adventure and inspired silliness. Enough fan-girl waffle. On with the interview.

Hello Toby, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi – thanks for inviting me to appear on your blog!

Inheritance Books – Gail Barrett

This week’s intriguing Inheritance Book choice is from romantic suspense writer Gail Barrett.

Hi Gail, welcome to Inheritance Books. Tell us a bit about yourself.

Shadow2I guess you could say I’m a language aficionado. I love everything to do with language — speaking, reading, translating, writing. I’ve taught Spanish and English as a Foreign Language for years. I’m also the author of thirteen romantic suspense novels which have won various awards, including the National Readers’ Choice Award, the Bo...

In Conversation with Rhoda Baxter

Reblogged from Vulpes Libris:

Rhoda Baxter writes intelligent, contemporary romantic comedy with unusual settings; her latest book, Having a Ball, features a determined young heroine set on arranging a charity ball on a shoestring. Naturally, we asked charity ball habituée and RNA mole Ticky Dogge-Hare to invite her along for a little chat.

So, darling, this romantic comedy lark: how on earth did you get into it?

Inheritance Books – Jarod Kintz

This week’s Inheritance Books are from Jaron Kintz (part of his Mandrake Hotel and Resortbook tour viaVirtual Writers Inc ).

Hi Jarod, welcome to Inheritance Books. Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m not very good at talking about myself. I’m still trying to figure out who I really am as a person, but as a writer I tend to focus on the absurd. I really enjoy surreal situations, and I think there is a great amount of wisdom to be gained from dreams.
