In response to Carol (Dizzy C’s Little Book Blog) and my collaborative post on How To Get (and keep) A Book Blogger On Your Side, we would now like to share with other bloggers strategies that have worked for us in reviewing and blog admin.

Carol says:

Do respond to emails as soon as you have them. Often emails can be overlooked because we open them on our phones or tablet when we have a few spare minutes.

Goodreads Book review: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Gone GirlGone Girl by Gillian Flynn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this book because a friend recommended it to me. It is, in short, a very very good book. Well written, tautly plotted, deep, immersive and compelling. It’s a masterpiece in the unreliable narrator. I can see why it made it into the bestseller list.

So, why only four stars? It was the ending that undid it for me. I likepsycho killers to be caught and put away at the end. Kudos to Ms Flynn for being brave enough to point out that monsters g...

Goodreads Book review: Truth or Dare by Laura James

Truth or Dare?Truth or Dare? by Laura E James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had heard about Truth or Dare well before it came out. A few years back, I met Laura who told me that most readers were, apparently, ‘stumped’ as to how to classify the book. Having read it, I can see what they mean.

Truth of Dare is a dark and intricate novel. The main character Kate is troubled and, frankly, messed up. All the characters have complicated pasts. The only one from a conventional background is Josh, and even he has a nut j...

Inheritance Books – Halloween Special – Spoooky books (well, old ones anyway)

This week I asked my friend, Information Ninja and fellow Jem and the Holograms fan, RF Long to do a guest post for Halloween. When she’s not writing amazing YA Fantasy books, she’s a librarian who looks after a collection of rare and ancient books. She has very generously taken them out and photographed them for us too.

Hi Ruth, thanks for doing this Halloween special on old books. First of all, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

‘How I learned to write’ or ‘Two emails about one 22nd of a book’

I had two nice emails today. Amazon emailed me to say that there was a new version of Choc Lit Love Match, which I purchased ages ago (before I was signed up with Choc Lit), to tell me that I could update the version on my Kindle for free. This, I promptly did.And Choc Lit emailed me to confirm that my short story ‘Just Add Milk’ was now added to Love Match.
