Having a Ball on Tour – stop 2: Total Book Geek

Here we are are the second stop of the Having a Ball book tour. Today I’m talking to Athena at Total Book Geek about my top ten tips on organising a ball (and sampling some rather nice wine). She gave the book 4 out of 5 stars (phew!) and if you leave your own top tip, you have a chance to win one of two copies of Patently in Love.

Stevie has always relied on her brother to bail her out of trouble. Now she needs to prove to him that she can be independent and mature. When she takes a job organizing a charity ball for some slightly barmy retired academics, she’s not expecting to fall in love with the rambling old house, the even more rambling family that lives there and Tom, the boss’s son.

Hi Rachel, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please tell us a bit about yourself.

Me - June 2013I live in beautiful Wiltshire and lucky enough to be able to write full-time around my husband, two teenage daughters and black Lab, Max. Having a Ball is going on Tour!

How rock and roll does that sound?

To kick off the tour, I’m chatting to Shaz at Jera’s Jamboree. You can read the interview here.

Inheritance Books – Cathy Lamb

This week’s Inheritance Books are from Cathy Lamb, author of thought provoking women’s fiction.

Hi Cathy, welcome to Inheritance Books, please tell me a bit about yourself

I was born in Newport Beach, California and spent my first ten years playing outside like a wild vagabond.

As a child, I mastered the art of skateboarding, catching butterflies in bottles, and riding my bike with no hands. When I was ten, my parents moved me, my two sisters, a brother, and two poorly behaved dogs to Oregon bef...

New Year’s Resolutions – wishful thinking vs reality

Today I’m visiting Julie Ryan at All Things Bookie and talking about new year’s resolutions. Beware: I WILL be talking about sagging middles and disappointing endings.

Inheritance Books – Abbie Headon

Welcome to Inheritance Books in 2014! To start it off this year, we’ve got a poet. Abbie sent me the most helpful submission by reading the blog and preparing her contribution to be exactly right, so that all I had to do was drop the text in. Thanks Abbie, this makes you a Top Contributor. If I had an award for that, you’d get it. Anyway, on with the show.

Goodreads Book Review: The Wedding Diary by Margaret James

The Wedding DiaryThe Wedding Diary by Margaret James

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve read The Silver Locket, which is one of the historicals written by Margaret James. I enjoyed it a lot and learned a fair bit about the war in the process. The Wedding Diary is a bit of a departure as it’s set in contemporary times. I readit mainly because I was curious to see how a contemporary novel would compare to the historical ones.
