Goodreads Book review: Dear Thing by Julie Cohen

Dear ThingDear Thing by Julie Cohen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out in paperback ( I don’t hold with buying hardbacks). I love Julie Cohen’s books and this one sounded particularly intriguing.

Dear Thing is about parents – single parents, reluctant parents, wannabe parents, the lot. Claire and Ben want a baby. Romily, their friend, agrees to be a surrogate parent to Claire and Ben. Of course, it’s not that simple, because Romily has been in love with Ben for years.

The lovely shiny new cover for Girl on The Run

Okay, here it is… ready?

Tadaaa!

GOTR_Kindle2 highres

My first novel has been re-edited, re-packaged, re-named and re-released under the Choc Lit Lite imprint at the end of May.

Girl On The Run (which used to be called Patently in Love) is the story of a girl who ran away from fame to become a lawyer. There’s gossip magazines, lawyers, pop stars, annoying little sisters, lots of emails and sharp dialogue. And ice cream. Lots of ice cream.

It’s also the only romantic comedy which has a patent attorney as the main char...

Goodreads Book Review: Army Wives by Fiona Field

Soldier's WivesSoldier’s Wives by Fiona Field

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up this book, especially as it was described like ‘soap opera like’. In the event, I really enjoyed meeting the three very different heroines and their heroes. It was interesting to see how the women each saw different aspects of army life and their emotional response was so different.

Parts of it were sweet, others (Jenna! OMG!) were faintly horrifying. The stories wove through one another making i...

Goodreads Book review: The Wedding Cake Tree by Melanie Hudson

The Wedding Cake TreeThe Wedding Cake Tree by Melanie Hudson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fun book about self discovery. Grace is interesting and strong without being annoying. Alasdair is lovely. There are some evocative descriptions. The ‘quest’ is a bit bonkers and Rosamund is irritating as hell, but I liked the way the resolutions panned out.

I had to look up shemag’s after reading this. I want one now!

Inheritance Books – Helena Fairfax

This week’s Inheritance Books are from fellow RNA member, Helena Fairfax.

Hi Helena, welcome to Inheritance Books. Please, have a biscuit and tell us a bit about yourself.

Helena Fairfax photoMy name’s Helena Fairfax, and I’m addicted to reading. Since books don’t come with a health warning, no one except my long-suffering husband has ever commented on my affliction, but if books were ever taken away from me I would probably have to run amok before going seriously cold turkey.

Besides chain reading I’ve been scrib...
