Writing Update and FFXIV.

Author, R. Brady Frost outside the Perot Museum (Dallas, TX)

Hello, all! It’s that time again. Oh yeah! It’s time to post about how thingsare going and what’s been up with me lately.

As you are probably aware, I’ve been working on my novel, Final Hope, from the Chlorophyllium Chronicles. I also work full time as an IT Specialist for a government organization and things have been pretty busy lately. And, as much as I love writing, writing is work. Sometimes it’s easy work, sometimes it’s hard work. But when you’re pouring your heart into something, it...

Chlorophyllium 9: Final Hope (Update 1)

I’ve been working on my novel, Chlorophyllium 9: Final Hope for just about two months now and I’ve made some really fun progress. Before I get too far, please allow me to provide a small disclaimer: I’m not a fast writer, I never have been. Even so, I’ve been making consistent progress, which is huge for me.

You see, like most people, I have a lot going on in my life. I work full time, I have a wife and a handful of kids, and I’ve got a house on almost 10 acres with countless projects threate...

The Importance of Mailing Lists for Authors?

I’ve been trying to stay on top of some of the trends with publishing and the notions of what it takes to build a successful author platform. One topic that seems to be getting a lot of attention lately, or at least as far as my interactions go, is the importance of building an active mailing list for your author newsletter.

A lot of the information I’ve come across seems to stem from a lack of control with social media outlets. A prime example is Facebook. I’ve experienced this one, myself,...

Do Self-Published Authors Get Rejections?

Writers write and regardless of the publishing path, all writers get rejected. Whether you’re submitting your queries or manuscripts to agents and editors, or self-publishing to go directly to the readers, being universally accepted is a delusion. Still, rejection hurts when you’ve poured your heart into something, doesn’t it?

(To directly answer the question of whether self-published authors get rejections, I’ll share mine with you and explain how I intend to handle it. I hope this inspires...

Weather Warning!

We are currently experiencing a weather warning in the Rockwall County area. It’s been quite a ride. We were under a Tornado watch, which looks like it might have lifted, but the sirens were blaring just a few towns away not long ago. The flash flood warning is still active and it’s been raining like nobody’s business. The sky has been filled with flashes of lightning and the roars and crackling of thunder. We’ve watched the clouds change colors in the most peculiar ways, oranges, pinks, slig...

Writing things and random updates!

Hey there guys and gals! Thanks for stopping by to check out what’s been going on with me lately. I really appreciate meeting new folks and I’ve been working hard on this whole “community” thing. It’s definitely had some ups and downs.

Some days I love checking in on Twitter and seeing what’s going on with other people. I like seeing what folks are reading and the odd sage words of writingwisdom. Some days it seems like my entire feed is filled with adverts for other people’s books. I don’t b...
