Dead in 5 seconds

thumbnailCAY8S72O The evil Blood-Hunter backed up slowly to the stairs of the jet and said, “Now, radio the pilot and tell him, if he doesn’t do exactly as I want, she will be dead in 5 seconds.”
Neal took the walkie-talkie out of his pocket and made an order on it to stand down.
The Blood-Hunter said, “I will keep her alive for the Elder Council.”
While the Blood-Hunter was laughing, he ran his hand over Charmeine’s chest and ripped her turtleneck.  Her camisole was exposed, and he began to drop his hand down to her pants.
Suddenly an immense coil of wind started to swirl around the Blood-Hunter and he yelled, “What’s going on?”
Then in a blink of an eye, a bolt of lightning came down from the sky throwing the Blood-Hunter away from the plane and Charmeine.  Tabbruis raced to Charmeine and caught her before she hit the ground.
Neal Neal caught the Blood-Hunter.  With a quick snap, Neal ripped off the Blood-Hunter’s head.  Neal shouted with a mean sneer, “Recover that loss Blood-Hunter!”
Neal turned and looked at Charmeine and Tabbruis.
Tabbruis was looking past him.
Shane’s hands were extended and his long hair was flying with a wind around him.  His eyes were transformed into bright orbs of sunlight.  Then as quickly as the wind came, it was gone.  Shane’s eyes transformed back into bright blue.
Tabbruis looked at Charmeine, he starting welling up with tears as he held her.  He licked her neck desperately trying to close the jagged wounds left by the Blood-Hunter.

Comp Air Jet

Neal said, “We have to get Charmeine on the plane and try to save her there.  There might be others.”
Tabbruis was not paying attention.  He still was licking Charmeine’s neck to heal it and would not move.
Neal yelled, “Tabbruis!  Get her on the plane, now!”
Tabbruis picked her up and started to move up the ladder.
Neal used his walkie-talkie to get clearance for take-off.
Tabbruis shouted to Shane, “Son, we have to go!  Get on the plane.”  Shane ran up behind them and secured the door for take-off.
The jet was taxiing the tarmac and Tabbruis laid Charmeine on the couch.  Charmeine said, “I love you Tabbruis.  Take care of … our son.”  Charmeine closed her eyes and quietly slumped in Tabbruis’ arms.
Tabbruis was desperately licking her wounds and muttered over and over, “My love, my love, please!  Please wake up!”  Charmeine did not move.  In a moment of complete and utter futility, he made a guttural roar and his eyes turned red with tears.
Tabbruis looked up at Shane and said, “Son, I am trying.  I am sorry.”  Tabbruis began to rock Charmeine back and forth like a little child in his arms.  His tears were dropping on her face and his anguish was palpable to all who witnessed.
Shane dropped to his knees and put his hand on Charmeine’s chest over her heart.
Shane said with a commanding voice, “Father, give me your arm!”  Tabbruis followed his son’s instructions and extended his arm.  With a shock, fangs came into Shane’s mouth and his gums began to bleed.  He bit into his father’s wrist and his own wrist.  Shane held their wrists together mingling their blood.  He said, “Father, put this to her lips and tell her drink.  Do not stop this no matter what I do.”
As if taking an order from God, Tabbruis put his wrist which had his and Shane’s blood in it up to Charmeine’s mouth.  He bent down to her ear and said, “Drink my love.  Charmeine….”  While Tabbruis was talking, Shane began to shock her heart in regular intervals.
Shane roared, “Father!  Try harder!  It’s not working!”
Tabbruis felt everything around him go black.  All sounds were gone except his heartbeat.  Then his heart started to beat slower and slower.
Tabbruis knew the exact moment Charmeine’s heart stopped because his heart stopped beating too.
In futility, Tabbruis closed his eyes and said into her ear, “Semper tuus ero, Charmeine.  I am forever yours.”  With that, her tongue, stirred on his arm.  Tabbruis nodded and cried, “Yes!  My dear Charmeine; I need you.  Our son, Shane, needs you.  You have to take care of our family.  I am nothing without you my love.”
Shane gave her another shock, and Charmeine slowly began to drink.
All Tabbruis could whisper into Charmeine’s ear was, “Semper tuus ero,” over and over again.
Shane shocked her again and she began to drink more and the pull on Tabbruis’ blood was stronger.  The fact that she was responding warmed Tabbruis all the way down to the bottom of his soul.  Tabbruis laughed with joy.
Shane put his ear to her chest.  He heard a strong heartbeat and said, “She will be okay now.”

English: Plane

Through tears of joy, Tabbruis smiled and said, “Yes, I know!  When her heart started beating again, my heart began to beat too.”
Shane sat back on his heels looking at her with love in his heart and said, “Father, feed her for a minute more.  I’m going to wash up.”
Tabbruis nodded at and looked at Charmeine’s face as it was becoming alive with color.
As the jet took off the ground flying high into the sky, Tabbruis’ heart was soaring also.

I hope your heart soars today!
P.S. I love Neal… just love that big hunk of a Blood-Hunter!
He’s so lost without his lover Hameal…
Neal’s heart will be healed later in “The Light-Bearer Series”
So stay tuned….

Passion in playing

Piano Keys warm

Piano Keys warm (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“Yes, you are sitting but…”  Tabbruis pulled Charmeine in a tight embrace, kissing her with an almost hungered desire.
Her heart pounded, and she became breathless.
In an almost hungered want, he whispered in her ear, “Play for me, please?  I think it is very sensuous when you play.”
She felt his hot breath on her neck and her head was dizzy with want.
He got off the piano bench and moved over to the patio doors.  As he leaned on the door jamb, his feet were spread apart with his arms crossed over his chest.
Gasping with want, She loved it when he stood that way.  He looked so powerful, so drop dead gorgeous when he stood like that. She couldn’t help admire his body and she raked him over him with her eyes and her desire was boiling.

English: The only known photograph of Frédéric...

Pouring the fervor and ardor she was feeling for Tabbruis into the piano,  she attacked the piano keys and began to play passionately.
Tabbruis thought he never heard Chopin’s Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor, ‘The Revolutionary’ played so well.  He knew when Charmeine attacked the keys; she was attacking him with all of her desire, passion and want.
The piano exploded with sound.
Tabbruis took one step at a time towards her while she was playing.  Charmeine’s passion and body was drawing him, enticing him, exciting him, and he had no control over his urges.
When the last notes rang out, Tabbruis grabbed Charmeine held her tightly while kissing her passionately.  He felt her legs giving out on her, and he pushed her up against the wall.
Charmeine loved having his hands and body on her.
Tabbruis half-growled in her ear, “Now, I am really jealous of that damned piano.”

I fell in love with music at a young age.
However, classical music has my soul.
I became a violinist and planned on being a violinist in a symphony orchestra one day.
Then a professor heard me sing as a required vocal class.
He dragged me into a local opera company and music theater.
I learned vocal technique and stage skills.
However, my favorite musician was a pianist…
Chopin
I need not to say more but precious, talented and romantic…

Sandra in charge…

bright-light-feathers-blue1 Charmeine was gone… and her love was gone with her!
Stunned, shocked and terrified, Tabbruis heard the perimeter alarms go off.
“Where did she go?” Dmitri asked with astonishment on his face.
Breathless, Tabbruis replied, “I do not know, but she is gone.  My heart cannot beat properly.”
“Come Tabbruis, the security monitors may have some information.”  Dmitri walked him into the study and turned on the big screen television.  Several pictures of the perimeter came up on the screen.  There were red X’s from the cameras on the southern perimeter.
Dmitri’s cell phone buzzed, and he answered it.  In a few seconds, he said something in Romanian to the caller and pushed the disconnect key.
“Our Queen is off the compound Tabbruis.  Security said she exited via the Southern corridor.”
Tabbruis could not speak.  He was struggling to even contemplate Charmeine leaving him.

English: Satellite dish in Austria.

“Dmitri, how far does your Satellite Intel go off the perimeter of the castle?” Shane asked.
“I believe about a 100 mile grid.”
“I will switch to Satellite Intel,” Thomas said.  As he began to type, his eyes became wide in amazement.  “I do not believe it Brothers.  The screen had our Queen on the same track going more than 500 miles an hour.”
Everybody gasped.
“That can’t be right Thomas.  Let me have a look at that,” Shane said.  He went to the computer and typed in some commands to double check the data.
“At that rate of speed, she could be anywhere in this hemisphere,” Tabbruis countered.  “I cannot track her if she is off the ground.  The Elder Council… what if they find her?”
“Logically, if we cannot track her, they cannot track her either,” Neal said.
“What the…  Dad, the S.I. is right,” Shane said.
“Five-hundred miles per hour is about cruising speed for airplanes,” Thomas said.
Turning to his Father, Shane asked, “What are we going to do now?”
“I do not know Son.  Even with the familiarity I have with her scent and senses, I cannot track her if she is off the ground.”
All the men began to speak at once throwing ideas at each other.
The men were in chaos!
*****
Sandra Sandra whistled using her two fingers very loudly.
The men stopped talking and looked at her with surprise.
She stood in front of Dmitri’s desk.  Her arms were folded over her chest and patting her foot on the floor with irritation.  “You look like kids who got their ice cream cone stolen from them.”  She flung her hands up in the air and yelled, “You did a nice job of screwing up!  Mierda!  Enough of this chauvinistic bullshit!  Shane, you are her son, how could you not support her?  Dad, you are her Champion…  Dmitri? Thomas? Neal?  Could all of you not even fathom the possibility of November 5th being the day we should attack?”  She took a deep breath and said sarcastically, “What faithful comrades you are….”
“What did you say little girl?”  Angrily, Neal took a step forward to Sandra.
“Go ahead Neal,” she said with determined look.  “If you think you are invincible, you aren’t.  I will put you on the floor, right here, right now buddy.”
Neal bore his fangs at her but Shane stepped in front of him.  “Stand down Neal.  We are on the same squad.  You don’t want to mess with her, believe me man.”
“Do not question my loyalty ever again little girl,” Neal said as his fangs retracted.
“I question everyone’s loyalty in this room.  Mom has a hunch, and it’s up to everyone to listen to it, not automatically dismiss her.  Also, if you think this ‘little girl’ can’t do you some damage… you have another thing coming.”
“Enough…  The biggest problem now is to locate the Queen,” Dmitri said as he walked between them.  “Everything else is secondary.  Save these petty disputes for practice.”  He pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes.  “Tabbruis, do you have any idea where she might have gone?”
“No.  I am very worried.  I have to find her Dmitri.”
Sandra walked over to the men and asked, “So I take it that no one has an idea where to find her?”
Charmeine ready to fight They all stared at her.
“Daughter,” Tabbruis said with a tremble in his voice, “We cannot track her when she does not touch the ground…”
“Dad, I’m talking about her feelings.  Listen, you have to feel her hurt, her betrayal, and her pain.  You need to put yourself in her shoes now.”  She threw her hands up in disgust and crossed her arms. “Ay-ye-ye!  Lord, help us!  Mierda!  It’s gonna take a woman, to find a woman!”
She sat in the big chair at head of the conference table, leaned back and put her hands behind her head.  “Now, all of you sit down and tell me about Mom.  No… tell me about Charmeine… the woman…”
The men stood there stunned looking at her.
She spun the chair around, slammed her hands on the table impatient for them to begin and commanded, “Now!”

Shine On Award… thank you all!

shine-on-award

THANK YOU
to Jennifer Kiley
for the Shine On Award
I have met such wonderful people this past year, and Jen has been kind, loving and supportive.  She has many challenges but she meets them head on with courage and fortitude.  She also is extremely creative.  It is unbelievable at times when I read her posts.  The woman is a powerhouse full of imaginative thoughts and ideas.  If you have a chance to sign up for her blog, you should.  Thank you Jen, you are an Angel!
There are NO RULES
So, I wanted to give you a self-interview.  I think it’s cool to be able to do something you want for the rules.
When did I begin to write?
A: I always wrote easily as a child and in college, and I loved Literature… British and American.  I was never a writer per se.  I was always a good at conveying my stories, reports or reviews on paper but I never wrote anything of length.  “Charmeine” was out of left field for me.  “The Light-Bearer Series” was just an obsession when I first started because I had to get the idea out of my head and on paper.

What made me publish?
My galpals!

My galpals!

A: After I was encouraged to go public with my book… (I never intended for anyone but maybe my gal-pals to read it)… I wrote to publisher after publisher.  I followed their submission instructions to the letter but not one took a bite.  I was having a pity party with my gal pals at a wine induced dinner at a local pub.  I slurred to in my alcoholic haze that they were crazy for talking me into submitting my idea into publishers.  I muttered, “I wrote these books and no one is going to read it.  Why did you make me do this?”  Then my friend said, “Publish it yourself on Amazon!  You can do it!”  I just shrugged her answer off and filled my wine glass up again!  Later that night… I sat down and wrote an author, who I love, an email asking her how she did it.  To my supreme amazement, a few hours later, she wrote me back!   She wrote a long email telling me some rudimentary steps to self-publish!

What is my worst criticisms/attacks and how I overcome them?

Comments_2

A: I personally feel when anyone reviews a book; they should make sure they have the current edition… especially with self-publishing.  I knew nothing when I started and gave unedited editions of my books away for free and that haunts me even today.  Additionally, when I review a book, which I usually do every week, editing is such an easy fix; I do not take off stars for it.  I tell the author to get an edit but never take off stars.  A star to me is the content and story.

How I overcome them is that I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion!  Nevertheless, people will forever be wanting, and I have to realize that I cannot please everyone.  I guess because I’m just a new author, I tend to be harder on myself.  However, in the end, my work speaks for itself and my courage comes from knowing in my heart that the story is good.  I never let anything people say in constructive criticism bother me about my work!  It is the hateful, vicious and outright mean reviewers that have me stumped…  believe me, I’ve had my share.

What’s up with my books?
A:  “The Light-Bearer Series” is a love story about a sweet, innocent and somewhat playful romance between two star-crossed and totally different people, Tabbruis and Charmeine.  During the first book, “Charmeine” you will read a lot of backstory and history which supports the other books coming up.  Tabbruis and Charmeine meet in the first novel and sparks just fly!

bugs-bunny-whats-up-doc

I like to describe “Charmeine” like building a Hot Fudge Sunday: ice cream (heaven), fudge (Tabbruis’ background), nuts (present day Tabbruis and Charmeine) and a cherry on top (their romance).
In “Mactus,” the second novel, I have more of the romance, of course, but a lot more reveals about the supporting characters.
“Accendo,” the third novel, is action-packed and very heart-wrenching.  A lot more revealed about Tabbruis and Charmeine as they deal with their life together while fighting evil
In the fourth novel “Seditious,” I thought as I was writing it, “Whew, these kids never catch a break?”  The adventure, romance and tear-jerking scenes just abound in this novel.  It was one that I had the Kleenex tissue box handy all the time while I wrote it!  However, a great new teen romance blossoms and it is very cool to write about between everything else.
“Ransom,” has been described by people that read it as being the most intense book of “The Light-Bearer Series”!  Seriously, I thought I was on an emotional roller-coaster ride all the time I wrote it.  So many sides of the good, bad and the ugly that I couldn’t stop writing once I started it!  “Powerful,” is the only word I can describe it.

What would I like readers to pay special attention in regards to my book?
openmindedness A: Just to read “The Light-Bearer Series” with no preconceived notions about Vampires and Angels… the series is not like a normal Paranormal Romance.
I have written from my imagination and some concepts are similar, but most are not like anything I have ever read before.

Untitled-3

“The Light-Bearer Series” holds a lot of surprises and even when I wrote it, at one point I was up cheering in the middle of the night because I was so happy.  You get really invested in these characters’ lives.  I know most of the readers who have contacted me enjoyed the love, tears and humor.

6 Conumdrum Book Cover

When do I plan to publish book SIX?
A: “Conundrum” the Sixth Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” will be coming out in 2013!  I am so excited for my fans to see what is in store for the characters next!  My head has the movie playing in it, just waiting for me to write it all down!

How many volume of books will “The Light-Bearer Series” be?
A: There will be as many novels in “The Light-Bearer Series” that my head can imagine.  I promise you, the every novel will knock my fans socks’ off!  I have a high standard for my characters, they have to be human in their in-humanness and that… well that is what makes “The Light-Bearer Series” so good.

What’s my guided principle which governs my life?
equality_yinyang-Jozsef Szasz-Fabian-drmstime
A: I try to be nice to other people (the Golden Rule), not take myself too seriously, and always have a sense of humor.  I love the concept of “Paying it Forward” too.  I have to tell you that I believe every kindness bestowed on you should be given out in kind.  I’m a firm believer of that philosophy!
writers4peacecs1 I cultivate these values by practicing what I preach.  I’m not a saint by any means, but I try to make an extra effort to be kind, accepting of everyone around me, and put myself in their shoes.  My mother believed in Civil Rights and participated a lot in those activities.  She would tell us eight kids over and over again, “You are no better than anyone else!”

What is my advice for those starting out to publish?
comfortzone1 A: Just do it!  Try to Blog, Twitter, Goodreads, Facebook and email a lot.  Network with other Authors that have walked in your shoes!  THEY are your most valuable resource and support.  Promotions are your lifeline.  Without it, you will not get your book read.  Also, copyright all your material.  Pay for all the royalties.  Take time out for yourself and exercise or go out just for the sake of taking a breather.  Try not to take yourself too seriously.

Fear…. and first book signing…

Have you ever felt so terrified that the light from terrified can’t even reach you?
Well, multiply that by a million and that’s how I feel.
My Publisher, PDMI asked me a couple days ago if I wanted to come.  Of course my initial reaction was (other than logistics like work and travel) “Wow cool, okay!”
expo1 Now, I’m shaking in my proverbial boots.  There is a saying that “If you are afraid, then you are doing it right.”  I don’t know if it is the best way to feel but I can lull myself by thinking that.  I have this nightmare of showing up and being run out of the place by the other ‘real’ authors.  I know this is just my mind playing tricks, but it is none the less frightening.
I don’t know if any of you are from this area, but I sure would love to see a friendly face.
I have been doing a lot of prep work to get ready for this adventure.  Here is a small snippet.  I really hope you enjoy it!

Exhausted and very hungry, Charmeine was walking Smith Point Beach in Long Island, New York.  Her heart was struggling to pump blood as it had been ever since she left Romania.
She was livid with her family.  She felt betrayed, belittled and lonely.  The aimlessness and craziness of this past week plummeted on her like an immensity.  It felt like 1997 again.  She was by herself, lonely, a solitary person with no family or friends.
She wondered up and down the shore flying between Jones Beach and Smith Point Beach.  She wanted some time to think and did a lot of it.  At first, she re-ran the whole scene in the study and terrace in her mind, over and over, digging a deeper rut in her memory.  Ever since she left, her heart was never the same.
However, the betrayal came from the root feeling of fear…. her fear!  Fear she wasn’t good enough.  Fear she was incapable to be anyone’s Queen.  Finally, fear she wasn’t strong enough to be a skilled weapon against the Elder Council.
The biggest problem now she faced was logistics, Charmeine needed to get to Athens, Greece and quick.  The battle was a day away.  In her haste to retreat from the castle, she took no money, credit cards, passport, clothes or even a cell phone.
She sat down and began to well in tears folding herself in a ball putting her legs up to her chest.  She laid her head on her knees.  Her arms encircled her legs.  She just rocked back and forth, comforting herself.
Charmeine started to ball her eyes out.  She hadn’t cried like this but one other time.  The night she saved Tabbruis’ life, she cried uncontrollably in the shower.  It was the realization she was in love with him and it scared her.
‘God, it seemed like a century ago but it has only been a few days,’ she thought.
Longing to have him back in her arms, she just couldn’t get over the fact that he was out of her life.  He failed her at a moment when she needed him.  Crying so hard her chest was beginning to hurt, she closed her eyes to try blot out the memory of his touch.

She felt that all this was too much, and she would never be able to go on… it just hurt too much.
*****
As the limo drove on the bridge for Smith Point Beach, Tabbruis knew Charmeine was there, he could feel her.  Sandra had been right all along!  He smiled and felt relieved.
He wanted his wife back badly.  All the worry and confusion he went through for the last two days were gone.  He wanted to hold his wife again, and have her come home.  He needed her because his heart had not worked right since she left.
Suddenly, he could tell she was in distress and suffering.  Without delay, he told the driver to pull over.  Like the wind, Tabbruis ran to find her.  As he ran over the dune barrier, he saw her in a tight ball crying.  Her beautiful long blond hair was flying around in the wind.  He took a breath knowing she was not hurt physically.
He thought, ‘She is alright; I have found my wife.  This nightmare is over.  Thank you God!’
Suddenly, Charmeine’s heart skipped a beat.  Keeping her eyes closed, she felt a warm embrace around her.  When she smelled his familiar scent, instantly she felt safe and calm.  His big arms surrounded her, and she melted against them.
Tabbruis and Charmeine

Tabbruis and Charmeine

“Semper tuus ero, Charmeine.”
Tabbruis’ deep, European accent was the sweetest sound she had ever heard.
She felt his burning kiss on her lips.  She couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes and wanted to totally fall into his arms.
Out of an automatic reflex, she whispered among her tears, “Semper tua ero,” and kissed him deeply.  Their tongues danced in unison while she ran her fingers through his hair.  They fell back on the beach together as they continued their kiss.
Neither one was ready to deal with reality.  The only thing that mattered was their arms yearned to hold each other.  Their bodies desired each other.  Most importantly, their hearts needed each other.

Two peas in a pod

Charmeine and Tabbruis were in the Grand Hall while Dmitri, Neal, Thomas, Shane and Sandra were training for the battle on the field next to the castle.

Hera Campana. Marble, Roman copy of an helleni...

Her head was pounding.  She was thinking of what Hera’s ghostly apparition said to her during practice:
You must regard what I say now.  Your mission to rid Earth of the Evil Elder Council must be carried out.  When they have been destroyed, balance will come.  Charmeine, you are the Queen of Light.  You shall be a Holy instrument of God.  He has appointed you to lead this family into battle.  My time is almost gone.  Charmeine will be all of our Salvation.  She is a light of God!
Charmeine got up to talk to him and she became unsteady.
He saw the wobble and picked her up.  He noticed she felt like jelly in his hands.  She was exhausted.  He whisked her off to their Master Suite and gently sat her down on the edge of the bed.
“Tabbruis, you have to stop using that superhuman speed of yours, it makes a girl dizzy.”
“You need sleep Charmeine.  I will help you get ready for bed,” and started to take off her clothes.
She stopped his hand and timidly grinned.  “Tabbruis I know you are going to think I’m crazy.  Would you… just massage my back?  I need to relax.  Would you mind terribly?”
Tabbruis and CharmeineShe is shocked and he... is mesmorized!

She is shocked and he… is mesmorized!

“Not at all, my love,” he smiled with a sexy curl of his lips.
He finished undressing her, and she stretched out on the bed face down while her hands dangled over the side.  He put a sheet over her body and a pillow under her chin.  Opening up the terrace doors to let the sea breeze, he said, “Just relax now.”
She felt the sea breeze hit her face and was thankful.  Then she smelled roses.
He began rubbing her back with the rose lotion she loved.
“That smells and feels like Heaven,” she sighed.
“Your Heaven?”
background2-1-1.jpg “Oh yes, my Heaven Tabbruis.”
“We must be neighbors, Charmeine, because this is part of my Heaven too.”  He whispered in her ear, “Now relax my love.  When you are rested my love, everything will come into focus.  For right now, just feel at peace.”  He kept on massaging her shoulders and could feel the tension.  “Focus on being calm and breathe deep.  I am here.  I will be here always for you.  Relax.”
He could not help himself from putting his hands on her.  Her body was perfect.  Slowly he rubbed her neck, shoulders, and back until she was completely relaxed.
She closed her eyes and began to relax.
bright-light-feathers-blue1 Once he was done, Tabbruis laid her in the bed and turned off the lights.  Moonlight illuminated the room in softness.
Sleepily, she muttered, “Tabbruis, I want to sleep in your arms feeling your skin against me.”
“I would like nothing better,” and with a wisp of a breeze, he was under the covers and patted his bare chest beckoning her to come to him.
“How can you always be this damn sexy Tabbruis?”
“You have no idea how sexy you are,” he said with a low growl.
She slid next to him and wrapped herself around his body with her head resting on his chest.  When she heard his heartbeat, her eyelids became heavy and yawned, “Good thing we are married.  We are two peas in a pod who love each other, Tabbruis.”

“Two peas who need each other, Charmeine.”
“Two peas in a pod who would die for each other…” and she drifted off to sleep.
Tabbruis’ heart fell.
She was saying in her sleep what had been on her mind all along.  She was sure sacrificing herself was the only way to save her family.
“God, please help me protect her,” he prayed as his arms held her securely.
He saw the sweet smile on her lips, and it comforted him.  He leaned down and kissed her.  His eyes became heavy-hooded and closed them.  As he held Charmeine tightly in his arms, Tabbruis drifted off to sleep.

Why do I go on?

I do not write personal posts because this is the only opportunity to show you little vignettes of my novels.
We all need to escape at least for 5 minutes a day.  I gear my posts to do just that.
I have some points I would like to make.
In the words of an “oldie but goodie” song by Leslie Gore… ”It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.”
So please read on if you wish.
In the beginning, I knew nothing.
This work is in the public domain in the United States, and those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 100 years or less.

13 months ago, I started writing a love story.
“Charmeine” 140K and “Ransom” 110K were written in about two months.
College essays were the only things I wrote before that.
I most certainly never thought ANYONE would pay to read this love story.
I was positive that I did not write a Masterpiece or Epic.
To be honest, the first drafts of my novels are non-edited, non-formatted and basic crap in the grammar department.
I knew NOTHING about publishing!
To my chagrin, I didn’t know about editing, formatting, copyrights, beta-readers, book cover royalties, self-publishing, promotion, blogs, Amazon KDP, Barnes and Noble, Nook, Kindle, Goodreads, WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or any Social Media.

Older Editions of “Charmeine”

I gave away non-edited files of “Charmeine” freely with no charge to anyone who wanted it.  Something I keenly regret.
When I was “wised-up” by some very dear author friends, I went to get estimates on a good editor I was given a $2000 minimum price tag.  This was well out of my price range as I am going to Graduate School working full-time just to pay my bills.
However, I did sink a lot of money (well at least a lot of money to me) into the whole “author” thing, i.e. Blog fee, Copyright fee, ISBN fee, Cover Model Royalty Rights, Bookmarks, Swag and other fees that are too numerous to count.
To this day, I have never been in the “black” on my author ledger.  I don’t believe I ever will be either.  Most likely, I will never make a profit.
Dear friends said they would help me edit as beta-readers.  When I finally did get an editor, they were very inexpensive.  I did not get a comprehensive editor but to be fair… I could not afford it.

As a result, tons of OLD editions of Charmeine are out there… in “Cyberspace” on the internet.
I am haunted everyday by this fact, because I will get reviews on OLD editions that are painful, to say the very least.
Also, why people can’t understand the obvious, I will never know.  I have been criticized how my characters speak.  To be exact, Blood-Hunters are very ancient creatures so they do not use contractions.  No one else in the novels speak in that fashion, just the Blood-Hunters.
To try to remedy these issues, I feel I have been forced to put this on Goodreads and Facebook:
To Reviewers and Readers:
First, the Blood-Hunter race or Elders have been on Earth for thousands of years. Because of this, they do not use contractions like I’m, don’t or can’t. They communicate in a more refined way.
Second, there are several OLD editions out in circulation of my books. Please leave a review on the current edition. Please feel free to contact me at guido.emily@gmail.com to check the edition you have is the most recent.
I LOATHED MAKING THAT ANNOUNCEMENT!
It is incredibly humiliating and demeaning to me as a struggling new author.  However, after recent events, this is what I feel I am FORCED to do.
Because of no responsibility, reviewers do not have to be professional, fair, and unbiased.  Anyone can leave a review behind a veil of anonymity which are hateful, mean-spirited, and uncharitable.
Let me explain with a few not so hateful examples:
DescriptionOfAngels I write about Angels and Vampires.
Some person declared I wrote about God and Christian Doctrine in my novels.  Huh?  Imagine that?  Angels with God and Christianity… seemed natural to me.
One mentioned I was too full of myself to write about God… I just have to smile about this because people through the ages have written about God.  I guess a lot of ancient writers, composers, and philosophers are conceited too.
Some had said the character Charmeine was in paraphrase, a ‘simpleton’ or a ‘hick’ because she used phrases like “Geez Louise” or “Damn it to Hell,” told stupid jokes, and shouted a lot.
Really?  Huh…
If they equate using phrases or yelling with a low I.Q., I will say my 151 I.Q. score must be low. I use those phrases all the time.  I yell when I get excited or upset. Incredibly, I am able to still tie my shoes.  When Charmeine tells a bad joke, she admits it.  She tells jokes to cut tension or just have fun.
Tabbruis

Tabbruis

Others stated Tabbruis was dull, stoic, and gloomy. Tell me how you would be if you lived on the Earth for 8000 years, never having happiness or finding love.  Sometimes you have to get through the tough outer coating until you get to the gooey part.
Charmeine makes Tabbruis come alive in the novels.  She is his heart that was missing for 8 millenia.
Now, these next comments I had to laugh about when I read them.   They stated I was conceited to write about an Angel and a Vampire loving each other.  Also my novels are not sexually graphic enough for them.  In the description of the book, it states it is about an “Angel and Vampire Romance” and also “Young Adult.”

The editing comments I understand.
My novels aren’t the epitome of grammatical perfection. They will never be Pulitzer Prize winning novels.
However, what I don’t understand are reviewers who get an old edition passed to them free of charge and review it.
Reviewers should make sure they are reviewing the latest edition OR at the very least, mention they have an early edition in their review.
If I get a book free from any source, I make sure it is the current copy before I review.  I know this may be an entirely new concept to some.
However, with self-publishing being more prevalent, I feel I should be fair… even to a self-published author.
I am ever hopeful revisions to the reviewing polices of Goodreads, Barnes and Nobles, and Amazon are on the horizon.
Charmeine and Tabbruis Forever

Charmeine and Tabbruis Forever

Why do I go on?
I go on writing because the romance of two ill-fated, star-crossed, opposites who are madly in love with each other is my imagination come alive.
Tabbruis and Charmeine and their family who live in the ‘Castle Charmeine’ are precious to me.  I feel like a parent.
I truly adore to write about their humanness even though they are not human.
“The Light-Bearer Series” and their adventures battling Evil on Earth wasn’t intended to be precious to anyone but me.  However, the novels are becoming more popular.
Oddly, I wouldn’t be making a post like this if it wasn’t for my supportive “Angels” who encouraged me.
I know Angels do walk the Earth… many of them have bolstered and fortified my spirit during this dark time.
To you, and you know who ‘you’ are, thank you for being my friend!

Love Consumed by Dusk

fractal11

“Tabbruis… whatever happens during the battle; you must live and go on for our family.”  Then she released her gentle hold on his face.
He yearned to feel her hands on him again.
“However, I will fight with the squad during the full moon.  But I know Tabbruis, with every fiber of my being, the battle will end badly.”
“Maybe when the battle is over, you will see we were right Charmeine.  Then we will work through these problems.”  He sighed and reached for her.
She backed off and put her hand up which lit with a white light as a warning he was supposed to keep his distance from her.  “After the Elder Council has come to justice; which I believe will not be on the night of the full moon… I intend to leave you Tabbruis.  I want to be as far away from you as possible.”
“I will not permit it Charmeine.  I will find you because you are my wife now.”
Too tired to expend more energy in the conversation, she said softly, “Tabbruis, I just want to go back to my life the way it was before we met.  I love teaching.  If we stayed together, it would only bring back the hurt every day you failed me.”
When she said, ‘failed,’ he was shocked.  He asked incredulously, “Failed you?  Charmeine, you really believe that I failed you?”
“Immensely Tabbruis!” she replied emphatically, and looked toward the window again.  Her heart was slowing down into a clenched rhythm, and the last two days of no sleep or eating took over her body.  She closed her eyes, pressed her head on the cool glass and fell deeply asleep.
He knew she was sleeping and his heart ached she was in so exhausted.  He slid over, put her head on his shoulder and wrapped his big, strong arms around her holding her tightly.

He whispered, “How can I just let you walk away from me, our family and our life?  Charmeine, you are the only woman in Heaven or on Earth for me.  Until the Elder Council falls, all I can do is wait and hope for you to come to that same conclusion.”
He closed his eyes in a whispered a desperate prayer, “God, help Charmeine find her way back to me.  I want to make her happy.  God, please help me.  I love and need her so…”
He gazed at her face, and his heart ached inside when he saw her looking so sick.  She appeared white as a sheet.  All the color had gone from her lips and skin.  He whispered, “There is so much I need to tell you, so much I want to tell you.  God Charmeine, I love you so much…,” and he pressed his lips gently on her head.
Just then, Charmeine muttered in her sleep, “Semper… tua… ero.”
He smiled, held her tighter and sighed, “Semper tuus ero Charmeine.”  He relished every second she spent in his arms.  He secretly wished there was a car broken down on the Long Island Expressway, so he could hold her longer through the traffic.  He knew when she awakened; he would not be able to hold her any longer.  As they arrived at JFK International Airport, he gently laid her over on the other side of the seat away from him.
When she awoke, she was cold and indifferent toward him.
He was unable to process anything but automatic movements needed to get on the jet at JFK.
Once they were on the plane, she said her ‘hellos’ to Neal, Thomas, Sandra and hugged Shane.  The family saw the profound tension between her and Tabbruis.  Most of all, they noticed her wedding ring had not been put back on her finger.
They noticed her joy, confidence, and lust for life had been eroded… changed.  Everyone was saddened their Queen and King, were hurting.
Tabbruis wanted to ask her questions, so did the others, but they did not.  They all knew she was only hanging on a thread.  He sat next to her not talking.  She shook her head dismissively at him.  To escape his presence, she went to the private compartment of the flight attendant station.  She sat in the jump seat by the window.
He could tell she was raw to the bone.  He knew by her pallor she had not eaten nor slept for all the time she was away.  When he came into the flight attendant station in the pretense of bringing her food, she only ate a few crackers and drank some water.
She stared out the window looking at the clouds as if she was in a dream.  Then like a child, she leaned her forehead on the rim of the window and fell into a deep sleep.
He put her head on his chest like he did in the limo.
He felt her faint energy signature registering throughout his body.  He had not slept or ate either, but as a Blood-Hunter, he could go a long time without either one, she could not.  His mind was so full of worry.  He was in utter desperation and did not know what to do.  He could not lose her.
untitled-7.png Now, he was determined the squad had to kill the Elder Council on the full moon.  He knew she would understand his reason to stand with the others once the battle was done.  He bent down and kissed her forehead, “I love you Charmeine,” he whispered, “I am forever yours.”  No one disturbed them until they landed 10 hours later in Athens, Greece.
