Meet CARLY, (aka Percival’s Girl)

In Disney World, Tabbruis and Charmeine went to a bench and sat down as they watched the others walk away.
Shane, Sandra, Percival and his girl rounded the corner approaching the bench.
Tabbruis and Charmeine got up.
Charmeine noticed how strikingly beautiful the young woman was.  She looked like a little like a delicate flower.  Charmeine whispered to Tabbruis, “Oh my God, she is even more beautiful up close.”
Shane hollered while they were a little away, “Go ahead you two, we will be around the corner.”
Percival and his girl walked to Charmeine and Tabbruis.  Percival nervously said, “Aunt Charmeine and Uncle Tabbruis, this is my friend, Miss Carly Wallace.  Carly, this is my Aunt and Uncle, Charmeine and Tabbruis Hunter.”  Like a gentleman, he gave a little bow to her and went to the side.
Carly put out her hand and said, “Please to meet you Ma’am and Sir.”
“Hello, Miss Wallace,” Charmeine said while she shook her hand.
Tabbruis shook her hand and said, “Pleasure to meet your acquaintance Miss Wallace.”
Tabbruis said, “Percival, come with me, I want to chat with you,” and he looked back winking at Charmeine.
Charmeine asked, “May I call you Carly?” and the young girl nodded.  “Carly please sit with me for a while?”
“Yes Ma’am,” Carly replied with a smile.
As they sat down Charmeine said, “Well you are going to have to dispense with the Ma’am.  I am Charmeine or Mrs. Hunter, whatever you feel comfortable with.”
“Yes, thank you Mrs. Hunter,” she answered with another big smile.
Charmeine asked, “I just wanted to talk for a moment is that okay?”
“Yes, I’m just kind of nervous, you know?” Carly responded while wringing her hands.
Charmeine touched her hand and replied, “You don’t have to be nervous.  I won’t bite.”
Carly kept looking at her hand where Charmeine touched it.
Charmeine asked, “Where do you live Carly?”
“Far away, Mrs. Hunter… I live in New Jersey,” Carly replied with a lilt in her voice.
Charmeine asked, “Are you from New Jersey?”
With hurt in her eyes, she nodded.
“That bad huh?” asked Charmeine.  She noticed the pain the young girl was in.

Carly nodded and looked away.
“Yeah,” Charmeine said in a soft voice, “I was in an orphanage from when I was teenager in Holbrook, Long Island.”
Stunned, Carly looked at Charmeine and said, “I’m sorry for you Mrs. Hunter.”  She hung her head and said softly, “But I have been shuttled from foster home to foster home since I was nine years old.”
“Oh that must have been terrible.  I never stayed in foster home, just the orphanage,” Charmeine said.
“Better for you, Mrs. Hunter… better for you,” Carly said with a far off look.
Charmeine asked, “What grade are you in high school Carly?”
Carly weakly chuckled, smiled and replied, “Wow, I know I look young but…Wow!  No, I’m on Spring Break from Rutgers University in New Jersey.  I’m in my sophomore year.  I work fulltime and go to school fulltime.”
“Geez Louise, you look so young to have such big responsibilities,” Charmeine said.
“Yeah well, you do what you have to do, Mrs. Hunter,” Carly said.  “Funny how my mind works Mrs. Hunter.  Last week out of the blue, I got this insane idea to come down to Disney World in Florida.  I got up this morning at 2:00 a.m., took a taxi to Newark Airport, and was in the air flying here by 3:30 a.m.  I arrived in Orlando about 8:00 a.m., took a taxi from the Orlando International Airport so I could be here when the gate opened at 9:00 a.m.   I gave up my fulltime pay from my shifts at work and spent every dime I had to come here!  I mean here?  Why?  Who does that?  It’s insane!”
Carly shook her head, rubbed her eyes and said in exasperation, “Oh God, I don’t know!  But Mrs. Hunter when the parade is over tonight and the park closes, I’m going to take a taxi back to Orlando International Airport terminal.  I have a 1:00 a.m. flight back to Newark, New Jersey.  This is the most foolish thing I’ve ever done!  It’s totally off the charts, wacko!”
After a moment, Carly’s blue eyes lit up with joy and said, “However, this may sound stupid, but I’m glad for doing it.”  She smiled looking towards Percival and said, “Yes, the trip was worth it, Mrs. Hunter.  I will have to say I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!”
“Look me in the eyes, Carly,” Charmeine commanded and asked, “Do you like Percival?”
Carly turned red with embarrassment and hung her head.
“Look me in the eyes Carly… well?” Charmeine inquired.
She very slowly moved her ice blue eyes up to meet Charmeine’s deep brown ones and replied in a meek voice, “Yes, very much so.  When I met Percival, I was just drawn to him.”
“Carly, I’m very happy to hear it,” she said with a smile.  “While we were standing in line at the Small World ride, did I see something come from Percival’s hand to yours?” she asked.
Carly’s eyes opened up in a panic and answered, “Oh it was nothing,” and she hid behind her hair.
It was a tactic Charmeine used when she was embarrassed or hurt and said, “That was a lie, so look me in the eyes and tell me the truth.”
“You are going to think I’m silly,” Carly said with a grimace.
Charmeine asked, “What is it Carly?  Be truthful.  I don’t like fishing expeditions.”
Carly turned and looked into Charmeine’s eyes and replied, “Okay you asked for it, but don’t call the men in the white coats until I’m done.”
Charmeine smiled and nodded her head.
Carly then took a big breath and said, “Look it… Mrs. Hunter, there is something special about Percival.  He gives me green shocks when he touches my hand and it feels wonderful.  But when you touched me before, it felt like Percival in a little way but without the sparks.”
Charmeine started to talk and Carly said, “Wait… Mrs. Hunter… do not take this the wrong way but I think… I am special.”
“How?” asked Charmeine.
Carly took a big breath and replied in a meek voice, “I have ESP.”
“Extra Sensory Perception?” asked Charmeine.

“Uh huh… Yes.  Mrs. Hunter it involves the reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses.  It’s like a sixth sense, gut instinct or hunch; however, it is in the extreme.  ESP told me to come down here for Spring Break.  I had to come here today.  I didn’t… I didn’t know the reason why until…” and she sighed in delight, “…until I met Percival.”
Carly put her hand on her forehead and said, “Mrs. Hunter, I am more of a freak than that.”
She shook her head and looked into Charmeine’s eyes.  She blurted out, “I have telekinesis in movement or change of physical objects.  My mental force can move things… tiny as a pencil or large objects like a chair.  If I concentrate, I can move bigger things.  Let me show you I’m not as crazy as you probably think I am.”  Carly waived her hand and lifted Charmeine’s messenger bag off the bench a few inches.
Charmeine’s eyes flew open she smiled and nodded with approval.
Carly shook her head and the bag lowered to the bench.  She took a deep breath and said, “Now, you will call the nuthouse when you hear the next part.”  She exhaled and said, “The weirdest thing of all Mrs. Hunter is I am totally head over heels, earnestly, deeply in love with Percival and I don’t know why!”  Tears were welling in her eyes, “Percival will be out of my life in a few hours and my heart is breaking.  I keep asking myself, ‘How I can love someone at first sight?’  Things like this don’t happen or if it does, it happens in a stupid bedtime story.”
“May I say something now Carly?” Charmeine asked with a big smile.
“Yes, Mrs. Hunter,” Carly replied as she was wiping away the tears in her eyes.
Charmeine smiled, put her hand on Carly’s and said, “Now, I’m going to sound crazy to you.”
Carly’s eyes went open and said, “Your hand… it feels like warmth and tingles, just like Percival but his has green sparks.”
“My dear Carly, it is because Percival and I are Light-Bearers, we are immortals who can throw lightning,” she said.
“Say what?” she replied with a stunned expression.
“Now, don’t call the men in the white coats for me either, but there is more.  My husband, Tabbruis, is a Blood-Hunter; he is an immortal who lives on blood,” Charmeine said with a smile.
“My brain, my ESP, my intuition says you are telling me the truth but I can’t believe it… blood?  He lives on blood?” Carly asked.
“Yes, his kind lives on blood; however, Tabbruis only drinks animal or donated blood.  Also he can move super-fast, heal very fast,” she said as her eyebrows went up.  Charmeine wasn’t sure Carly would take this information very well.
“That is way out there, I mean… wow!” she exclaimed.
Charmeine said, “Well, I believe you Carly.  How hard is it for you to believe about our powers?”
Carly just sat with her mouth open.
Charmeine continued, “Suffice it to say, our family is made up of Blood-Hunters and Light-Bearers.  We are total opposites of each other.”
Carly just nodded with an astonished look on her face.
Charmeine rubbed her belly and had a dreamy look on her face and said, “We are five couples who all live together as a family in a castle in Romania.”
Snapping her conscious back into reality, Carly said, “Uh…yes, Percival told me he lives in Romania.”
“We all love each other and I believe, at times, Castle Charmeine, the castle where we live, is the happiest place on Earth,” Charmeine said with a big smile.
“Uh huh,” Carly nodded and started muttering, “Castle… huh…  Happiest place…”
“Now, Carly, do you believe me?” Charmeine asked.
Carly blinked and said, “Pardon me for coming off as creepy… but with ESP, I seem to have exceptional discernment…,” then she swallowed, “I believe you Mrs. Hunter.  Really I do, for some reason.  You don’t seem like you’re nuts.  I thought I was the weirdest person on Earth, you know?  Apparently, what I have is pretty tame.”
Tabbruis and Charmeine

Tabbruis and Charmeine

Charmeine chuckled and said, “Well, I’m afraid you haven’t heard anything yet, kiddo…”  She swallowed and looked at Carly intently, “I am the Queen of the Light-Bearers and Tabbruis, my husband, is my King of the Blood-Hunters.  My family was given a mission from God with the sole purpose of battling Evil on Earth.”
Carly sat with her mouth open and her eyes wide with astonishment.
Charmeine smiled and said, “Yep, that’s exactly the reaction I thought I was going to get.  Will you let me prove what I said to you?”
Carly nodded with her mouth still open and answered, “Ya huh.”
Tabbruis, Percival, Shane and Sandra all came around the corner and Charmeine said to them, “Well, I told Carly but… ah… let’s go somewhere we can show her our powers and she won’t thinkwe are crazy.”
Carly said with a tremble in her voice, “I just can’t believe I’m not the weird one!”

“Judgment Day” snippet from “MACTUS” the Second Novel in “The Light-Bearer Series”

Charmeine walked down the hall, out the door of their wing to the front entry staircase landing.
Thomas was walking across the Entrance Hall.
As she walked down the stairs, she asked quietly, “Thomas can you point me in the right direction?  I get confused because the castle is so big.”
“That is completely understandable.  This castle was built millennia ago.  Each wing was built separately, as additions.  So, I can understand where it is hard to navigate.  I will be happy to escort you Ma’am,” he said with a smile.
She shook her head, smiled and said, “Thank you, but that’s not necessary, just give me directions.  Also, please call me Charmeine.”
Thomas said, “Yes, well, everyone is gathered on the Main Terrace.  Go left through the Formal Reception Hall, past the Ballroom.  It is actually the terrace for the Ballroom.  You cannot miss it.”
“Thank you Thomas, I appreciate your kindness to me and my family.  Tabbruis and I were honored when you Officiated our wedding.  I’m deeply touched and truly thankful.  Please come join us for breakfast?”
Thomas genuinely smiled wide, bowed and said, “Thank you Ma’am… um, Charmeine.”
She nodded, winked at him, and said, “See you soon.”

Alexander I of Russia

Charmeine went into the Formal Reception Hall.
However, Charmeine was bowled over when she saw the rich décor of the hall.
It was chucked full of antiques and gold-guild paneling which represented something of a Russian influence.  She walked quietly turning her head up inspecting a painting of Czar Alexander I of Russia.  She muttered, “One of the best Czars Russia ever had.”
Her head went up.
When Charmeine saw the ceiling, her heart began to flutter.
The ceiling had been painted with a mural of God casting Lucifer out of Heaven in the style of the famous illustrator Gustave Dore

This artwork is in the public domain

However, the mural was in color.  The painting rocked Charmeine to her very core.  She began to shiver, shake and became nauseous.  She reached to get to a chair and sit down because her leg were about to give out on her.
Suddenly, flashes of light rushed before her eyes…
As in a dream, she could see mist and clouds before her.  In dreamy far off voices, Charmeine could hear screaming and a command being given…
“Bring down the gate…”  People were rushing past, knocking her from side to side.  She could hear her own screams, shouting, and a baby crying.  Charmeine instinctively grabbed her arms as if the baby was in them.  Flashes of fire were raining down all around her.  Charmeine could hear herself yelling, “NO!  Do not close the gate!  He is not here!”  She saw her put down the child in her arms to run to the Gatekeeper.  She was begging him, “Open the Gate! My husband is not here!  Tabbruis!  He is not here.  NO!  PLEASE OPEN THE GATE!”
Then in a flash, the vision fizzled, and she was left shuddering and shaking.   She put her hands over her face and started to cry.  Charmeine bent down holding her head.
She rocked herself gently back and forth.
Charmeine felt a stabbing pain go through her like a knife.  She murmured, “He is not here…  Tabbruis not here….  Oh God, he wasn’t there…”
Suddenly, she stopped crying.  For some reason, Charmeine had no more tears to cry.

“He was not with you then, but he is with you now child…”   Over by the window, she saw the elusive, Dmitri.  He was extremely tall, dark and stately with a physique like Tabbruis.
Charmeine straightened herself up still trembling.  She said, “I don’t know what just happened.”
Dmitri lifted his eyebrows and inquired with a thick accent, “Really?  Yes…”  Then he came to her and held her chin looking in her eyes and said, “Oh my… but I believe Charmeine, you know.  You know.”
Dmitri walked to the Ball Room door, and said with a knowing grin, “Come child, your family awaits you.”  With that, he left.
Charmeine threw back her hair and slowly got up out of the chair.  She went over to the mirror on the wall by the door, and noticed that she was pale as a ghost.
Determined not to great her family in such a state, she straightened her shoulders and pinched her cheeks into color.  She took a big breath and went through the Ball Room.
At the end, she saw huge door opening to the sun-drenched porch.  It almost looked like a portal to Heaven because it was bright, and she was still in the dark… literally.
She whispered as she wiped her tears, “How many Angels can you stick on the head of a pin…”  As Charmeine approached the door, her eyes became blinded by the light.

As Charmeine appeared in Tabbruis’ dream, she was being carried away in darkness.  He saw her being tortured on the ‘Altar of Judgment’ lying helpless and defenseless.  Tabbruis was being held by the Elder Temple Guards doing everything he could to get to her.  He screamed in horror as the Elder walked over to her with his fangs exposed and leaned down…
Tabbruis tossed his head back and forth and roused himself out of sleep.  He got up and ran to the Master Bath to check on Charmeine, but she was gone.  He looked around and saw her old clothes were on the bathroom floor with a used bath towel, but her shoes were gone. Tabbruis’ throat tightened and became very alarmed.  Quickly, he ran out the bedroom and down the hallway.  He opened the door to their castle wing and stood on the front entrance staircase landing.  Tabbruis reached out with his senses and felt her heart beating which made him instantly relieved.
Tabbruis heard very soft music coming from the Grand Hall downstairs.  As he started down the steps, Tabbruis heard Dmitri whisper, “Charmeine is in the Grand Hall playing the piano.”  He saw his friend standing by the door to his wing of the castle.
Tabbruis nodded and began to head down the stairs.
Dmitri whispered, “Charmeine will surrender, Brother.  I am sorry.  She will not fight.”
Tabbruis’ heart erupted in pain!  He felt like a two ton truck had hit him.  With determination not to let it happen, Tabbruis whispered, “Charmeine is strong!  We will be a family as God intended us to be!  She will fight for our family!”
Dmitri whispered, “Ah yes, your family is set as God planned it to be on the dreadful day of the battle in Heaven.  However, Charmeine is a Light-Bearer; she is a light of God.  This woman is like the Son.  She will sacrifice herself for her family.  Tabbruis look into your heart.  Do you believe Charmeine will let you suffer for her?”
Tabbruis hung his head and replied with despair, “Dear God, how could you do this again to my family?  How could you rip Charmeine away from me and our son again?”  He could hear music from the Grand Hall and it was so beautiful.  Thoughts of Charmeine’s tortured face raced in his memory and began to tear quietly.  He could not lose her all over again.
Sitting on the stair with his head in his hands, he said in a whisper, “I have seen it Dmitri.  I know what you say is true.  I cannot bear to go on without her.  I would rather die.”
Dmitri put his hand on Tabbruis’ shoulder and whispered, “There is a solution to this problem Brother.  You know it in your heart as well.  Your family has something which is a great armor against its enemies… it is love.  If you have complete trust and love, nothing can threaten or rip your family apart.  All this requires is love!”
“Dmitri, how can I convince her to stay?”
“Tabbruis, if Charmeine had something to fight for and someone to fight with…she will stay.  However, if you shield her, she will succumb to the Elder Council.  My advice, my good and faithful brother, is to battle beside Charmeine, and never try to coddle her.  Remember and heed what I say now above all else Tabbruis:  Love and believe in Charmeine because she is much stronger than anyone on the Earth can ever imagine!”  With that, he slipped back into his own wing of the castle.
As Tabbruis sat on the stairs, his heart was full of apprehension and worry.  He was angry with God for trying to separate his family again.  On the other hand, he wanted to chastise Charmeine for even thinking about sacrificing herself.  ‘How can she ever think about leaving me alone?  I gave her my heart, and she is going to break it!’  Walking down the stairs, he tried to believe there was a way out of this chaos, just like Dmitri said.
Tabbruis sat on a chair next to the door, listening to her play tenderly and adeptly, never knowing she was such a capable musician.  As the notes filled the air, he thought, ‘Love… my family has love… we shall sit down and devise a plan to fight together.  However tonight, I would like to see my Charmeine play.’

Quietly opening the door of the Grand Hall, Tabbruis came in but stayed hidden as to not disturb her.  To see Charmeine play ever so lightly a Chopin Nocturne made his heart jump for joy.  He thought, ‘Which Nocturne is that?’  Then he recognized she was playing Chopin’s Nocturne No. 2 in E flat.  Her hands touched the keys gently.  The music was coming forth lovingly.  As she came to the end and the last note rang, she kept her fingers on the keys and let the instrument resonate until the vibrations died.  Tabbruis said in a whisper, “That was beautiful my love.”
Charmeine was not startled like he thought she would be.  Her head was hung deep in thought and said, “I will love you always until the day I die, Tabbruis.”

Tabbruis stood Charmeine up and hugged her.  He closed his eyes, and thought, ‘God, how can I convince her not to sacrifice herself for us, but to fight?’  He began to kiss her gently and Charmeine opened her lips.  He ran his tongue over her lips and parted them touching her tongue gently.
She moaned and moved closer to his body.
Tabbruis was heartbroken and began to kiss her passionately.  He held Charmeine in a tight embrace wanting to enfold her with his body.  He was excited with her touch and was burning with need and desperation.
Like a lightning bolt hit him, Tabbruis remembered Charmeine wanted to leave him.  He stopped kissing her suddenly and shouted, “No!”  He turned pacing toward the window breathing heavily.
She was confused and asked, “Tabbruis?  What’s wrong?  Are you angry I played the piano?  This is such a fine instrument, I couldn’t help myself.”
Tabbruis furiously picked Charmeine up and with superhuman speed, went to their Master Suite, threw her on the bed and slammed the bedroom door shut.
She was afraid, but also… a little excited too at his impetuousness.  He was gorgeous in his silk pajamas.  Tabbruis’ body was highlighted by the moonlight and his chest was heaving with anger.  He looked positively sexy and drop dead gorgeous.  She was panting harder as she tried to keep her libido in check.  It was hard, because Tabbruis reeked with animal magnetism.
Nevertheless, she was angry for the way he had just treated her.  Charmeine thought, ‘If this was for playing the piano, there was not freedom here but a prison!’  She yelled, “Listen, you can’t treat me this way over a small infraction of playing the piano without your permission!”  She started to get out of the bed.
All of a sudden, Tabbruis jumped on top of her and pinned Charmeine to the bed.
Anger raged through Charmeine and her hands began to spark.
He grabbed Charmeine’s wrists and held them over her head so she could not shock him.  Tabbruis did not say a word.  His face remained over hers.
She could feel his hot breath on her face.
Charmeine’s desire sparked now into an inferno.  She wanted him badly and her desire was boiling.  She knew he wanted her also.  His eyes were black with lusty desire.  The fire in his eyes was deep and burning out of control.  Hungrily, she enveloped his mouth in a deep penetrating kiss.
His tongue raced over hers, and he growled.

Tabbruis has to convince Charmeine to fight!

She moaned in an urgent response and the weight of his body made her shiver.
Nevertheless, she was angry and could feel her wrists being held but not tightly.  Charmeine pulled away in a pant and yelled in threatening manner, “Tabbruis, if you don’t want to end up with a current of electricity going through you to light up New York City, you will stop this now!”
In an instant, Tabbruis flew off of her and yelled, “I am sorry!  This is not because you played that damn piano!  God, help me!”  He went out on the terrace and started to pace back and forth.

“The Prophecy” snippet from “MACTUS” the second novel in “The Light-Bearer Series” by Emily Guido

The Prophecy

Poi Circles

For some reason Charmeine’s electricity did not hurt Sandra, and she was smiling.
Charmeine began to glow from her head to toes.
A blue light started shining in Sandra’s hands.
Charmeine extended her hand and electricity flew past the men and hit the concrete fence pulverizing it.  She let go of Sandra.
Sandra’s body began to glow with a blue hue.  With a blue charge starting to crawl over her body, she blazed.  Like a blow torch coming out of her hands, Sandra shot a flame at a small tree off of the terrace.  It instantly burned and went into ashes.
Shane’s eyes became huge and lunged to protect her.
Dmitri had to physically hold off Shane from going over to Sandra.
Charmeine’s arms extended and her feet came off the ground.
Everyone gasped with astonishment.
She flew over them going to one end of the terrace and back about twenty feet off the ground.
Her arms looked like a butterfly because they were lit up with bright white light.  Charmeine said in a big booming voice from Heaven, “I am God’s Holy Instrument, a Light-Bearer!  I am on Earth to fight for justice and send Lucifer’s children to Hell!  No shadows will ever block the Son!”
A crackle of thunder boomed, making each person jump.
Charmeine made thunder come down from the sky surrounding the terrace.  Like an electrical jail.
The smell of electric current blew through the air.
Charmeine started to float down slowly.
With a flash of lightning, Charmeine and Sandra became normal.  They looked at each other stunned.  Then, they hugged while laughing.
The men stood in awe.
Dmitri’s eyes were wide with excitement, and he shouted with great joy, “Thank God!  The Prophecy is fulfilled!”
Everyone looked at Dmitri in puzzlement.
However, Tabbruis was not looking at Dmitri.  His heart was racing, and he gazed at Charmeine with fear and anxiety.
the prophecy / skulls & bones.
Dmitri cried out,  “The Prophecy says the Queen of Light will sit on the throne, the King of Night will fight as her Champion, and their family will rule the Elders with truth, wisdom and justice!”
Tabbruis shouted, “No Dmitri! It cannot…She cannot…I cannot…”
“Tabbruis…God’s will be done, not yours,” Dmitri said.
It seemed the air was knocked out of his lungs, and Tabbruis tried to control the absolute dread in his heart.  He thought, ‘The Prophecy is to be carried out by my family?  So it is my duty to protect Charmeine?  She is supposed to fight Evil?’
Tabbruis’ head was spinning.  For he knew what Dmitri said was true.  Charmeine was the Queen of Light, and he was the King of Night.
Dmitri held up his hands and yelled, “Praise Be to God!  Finally the Elder Council will be destroyed!”
All of sudden, his face went black with foreboding, and he said, “Oh my children, the Prophecy says there will be great suffering, and a battle which will be tragic and bloody.”  He turned slowly and went up the stairs leading to the Ball Room.
Everyone was baffled and tried to process the last few minutes.
However, Tabbruis felt like his shoulders had a thousand pound weight on them.  His wife was the Queen of Light.  His charge was to Champion and support her.
Then Dmitri turned around and said in a commanding voice, “Practice to do battle with the Elder Council begins tonight on the lawn at sunset.  I suggest everyone rest,” looking at Charmeine and Sandra, “you will need it.”

Tabbruis solemnly approached Charmeine and said, “My Queen of Light, I will accompany you in battle and be your Champion.”
She shook her head and said softly, “I am no Queen.  I am only a wife and mother protecting her family.”  She reached her hand out to him
Tabbruis hesitated as he thought, ‘She is no longer mine…she is God’s Queen of Light.’  He took her hand and white sparks flew from it.  He took her in his arms, and he lovingly kissed her.  He whispered a prayer in her ear, “May I be worthy of her God.”
Charmeine whispered in his ear, “May I be worthy of him God.”
They embraced and pulled away looking in each other’s eyes.
Shane walked up to Charmeine and asked, “Mother… Char my God, how?”
“I don’t know Son,” she replied and shook her head.
Shane turned to Sandra and asked, “How, Sandra?  Did you know you were a Light-Bearer?”
Sandra answered, “Surprise!” waving her hands up in the air.  She became serious and said, “No, I didn’t know, but I am.  Are you upset with me Shane?”
Shane looked at her with surprise.  He bent down to stare in her eyes and said, “What? Babe I love you.  As you accepted me, I take you just the way you are.  I don’t know how or even why this happened, but it doesn’t matter.  All I want is you.  Babe I love you, all of you!  I knew you were my fire rocket, Babe.  But now, you are my eternal flame.”
Sandra’s jet black curly hair was shining in the sun, and Shane buried his face in it while he hugged her tenderly.  Shane said, “I love you Sandra.  From the first moment I saw you, I chose you, and it has been only you.  Babe, nothing will ever change that!”

English: Jacob Wrestling with the Angel. Česky...

Lord Cromwell furrowed his brow, got up, went across the room and poured a glass of water from a silver pitcher.  He offered it to Charmeine.
She said, “It’s probably laced with drugs because I wouldn’t put anything past you.”
Lord Cromwell smirked and said, “Angel I promised I would not hurt you.  This is just cold water.  Drink the water.  It will settle your stomach.”
Charmeine took it and drank a few sips.  Her stomach settled down.
He patted her back and asked, “Better now?’
She nodded.
He took the glass and put it on the coffee table.
She was in awe that he was kind to her.  Charmeine said weakly, “You cannot be Uriel.  He was an Angel of good and you are…”
“That is where your black and white philosophy of the world fail you Angel.  What makes you think that my works have NOT created a higher consciousness in humanity?” he asked.
Lord Cromwell got up and moved the glass to the other side of the coffee table and sat directly in front of Charmeine looking her in the eyes.  He calmly asked, “Do humans not band together in times of need and strife?  Does humanity not rise to overcome death and destruction?  You do not realize the darkest times have brought God’s light and love to the forefront.  God knows this.  You said earlier, ‘God knows everything,’ and I know for a fact that He does, absolutely.  But… there is always free will.”
“Cromwell, you have caused so much death and destruction, pain and heartache… God have mercy on your soul.”

“Yes Angel, He has mercy on my soul because I am part of His design.  How can you be so black and white in your thinking when you have witnessed one of the most hideous and insidious acts portrayed on humanity in millennia on 9/11?”
“Oh… My… God… You?” she inquired with terror in her eyes.
“No!  NEVER!” he vehemently replied.  He looked hurt as he gazed into her eyes.  He shook his head in disgust.  “That act was senseless and horrible!  Humanity all over the Earth came together and screamed to God in a shout of alarm!  God heard their prayers, thoughts, fears and woes!  God is absolute in His power!”  He shook his head and ran his fingers back through his hair.  He continued and said, “God is omnipotent, but there is a grand design which only God knows.  No Angels, not even Archangels has knowledge of what God knows.  However, you have to realize we are all part of God’s grand design… even I have a purpose.”
“So you didn’t…?”
“No Angel, that pointless deed was portrayed with free will.  I cannot control free will,” he said as he gently touched her forearm.  He whispered, “However, I know this much is true, I have seen parts of God’s grand design,” while he looked her in the eyes.  Lord Cromwell touched her cheek and sighed at the feel of her skin under his fingers.  He said, “I have had a purpose all along.  You, my Angel, only see the black in my assignment, but believe me, there are more shades of grey than you know in my mission.”
“You have a mission Cromwell?”
“Yes, but I am lost without my heart,” he answered as he took her hand and put it on his chest his eyes started to water.
Charmeine was struggling to breathe, her head was spinning.
Cromwell took her in his arms and held her tightly.
Charmeine’s world, the world which she was sure God was her protector and Tabbruis was her soul mate was falling apart.  She instantly thought of Tabbruis and pulled away from Cromwell.  Charmeine put her arms across her as if she had Tabbruis in her arms.
Seeing this, knowing why she pulled away from him and frustrated on how to proceed, he said, “Angel, you are mine.”

Tunnels appeared in Charmeine’s vision.  Flashes of light began to bombard her reality.  Charmeine’s head exploded in pain.  Her heart began to skip beats.  She began to sweat and clutched her chest.
She cried out in excruciating pain. Her heart which had already been injured by Bathsheba’s dagger… now had a sword run through it. That sword was Cromwell!
She screamed in terror and felt like she was being tortured.  The agony was intense and unrelenting.  Charmeine’s heart was under attack!  Her heart was literally ripping in half in torment, agony and pain.
Never before had she experienced such anguish.  Tears and sweat soaked her face.  She yelled, “Semper Tua Ero Tabbrius!”
As she fell to the floor, Charmeine’s heart stopped beating…

When opposites attract, are they opposites?

Reblogged from Vampire Syndrome Blog:

Click to visit the original post

I’ve been reading the five novels (so far) in Emily Guido’s Light-Bearer Series.

The central theme is “opposites attract.” The Light-Bearer (angel) Charmeine and her eternal soul mate, Blood-Hunter (vampire) Tabbruis, battle those prejudiced against their “forbidden” mixed relationship (much like my character Jack must overcome his community’s prejudice against special-needs vampires).

As you delve deeper and deeper into the saga, the question becomes: Are the attracting “opposites” in fact opposites, or merely two sides of the same coin?

Wonderful explanation of "The Light-Bearer Series"!!! It's too bad that people judge the series by the first book Charmeine because it has just the base of the soup, so to speak. However, if you read through to Ransom, you get the meat and potatoes of "The Light-Bearer Series"! I hope you read and enjoy. Thanks to Daven Anderson an accomplished novelist in his own right with "Vampire Syndrome" a wonderful novel I highly recommend! Thanks, Emily

At sunrise, Tabbruis and Charmeine woke up in each other’s arms.
She was listening to his heartbeat feeling safe and content
He was holding her tightly in his big arms.
 “Hello Wife.”
“Hello Husband,” she yawned.
“How are you this morning?” he asked with a husky voice.
Smiling with satisfaction, she replied, “I’m supremely blissful.  How about you Husband?”
“I feel… I cannot even tell you how wonderful I feel,” he said with a big smile.  Then he sighed and said, “However, we do need to get back this morning.”
She put her head down on the pillow with a grunt, and whined, “Can you tell them we gave at the office?”
Tabbruis laughed and said, “I think that only works with fundraisers.”
Charmeine dug her forehead in the pillow and sarcastically said, “Make the bad men go away… need more sleep!”

He smiled and said in a sexy manner, “I do not want to go back to reality either… in fact…”  He whispered in her ear while kissing her ear lobe, “We do have a few minutes more to enjoy…”  He sighed, “Make love to me Wife.”
Enjoying the invitation, Charmeine smiled and rolled on top straddling him.  She bent down to kiss him while he said, “Thank God.”
Charmeine said, “Hallelujah.”  She stopped an inch above his lips and saw his eyes were black with desire, and said, “Going for 5 and 0?  That’s not too bad.  Nope, not bad at all… Husband.”
Tabbruis now full of desire said, “Woman, you talk too much,” and rolled on top of her.
*****
Tabbruis and Charmeine got back into their room at the castle early.  They weren’t tired but wanted to spend the whole day in bed making love and holding each other.  They began to kiss and fell on the bed together.
Interrupting the moment, there was a soft knock at the door.
Charmeine whispered irritatingly, “Geez Louise…  Love is a great dream, but marriage is the alarm clock.”
Tabbruis rolled over laughing choking out, “Who is it?”
Shane answered through the door, “Hey Dad, can you and Mom come to the main terrace for breakfast?  I want to introduce you to the future Mrs. Shane Kelly.”
Tabbruis and Charmeine both yelled in unison, “Coming!”
Shane said, “Take your time, the future Mrs. Kelly is still getting dressed.”
Tabbruis still laughing said, “Okay be there in few minutes.”  He turned and said to her, “Well my love, it is time to get back to life.”
As they both got out of bed, she headed to the bathroom and sarcastically, “Oh yeah?  Just put a bookmark in it Husband.  You’re not off the hook!” and closed the bathroom door.
As Tabbruis heard the shower go on, he went out to the terrace breathed deep the sea breeze and reveled in the memory of last night with his wife.  He looked to Heaven and said, “My wife is with me again.  God, please help me protect her.”
Charmeine came out of the bathroom still drying off.
He came into the bedroom and said, “That was almost as fast as me.”
Smiling, she said, “Oh yeah, well I’m pretty fast,” as she was brushing her hair.
“Oh, a challenge is it?” he asked with curled lips in a sexy smile.  Then, like a flash, he went into superhuman speed mode.
Charmeine smiled while seductively brushing a long piece of hair while going to the dresser sighing deeply and dropped her towel.  She said in a Southern accent, “Oh my, I’ve dropped my towel.  Whatever shall I do?”
All of sudden, Tabbruis stopped, lifted up his eyebrows and raked his eyes over her naked body.  He shook his head, picked up the towel, handed it to her and said desirously, “You… do not play fair… my dear.”
Charmeine saw he had already showered, shaved and put on fresh boxers and pleated khaki dress pants.  She groaned in frustration.
Tabbruis grabbed and kissed her with passion.
She pressed her naked body against him and said with a seductive glint in her eyes, “All is fair in love and war…”
He bent down, gave her a ravishing kiss delving his tongue into her open mouth which made her weak in the knees.  He brought her to the bed, and laid her down continuing the kiss.  He whispered breathlessly in her ear, “You…”
She moaned and closed her eyes loving his touch on her bare skin.
“Lose!”
Before her eyes could focus, Tabbruis was dressed in a nicely pressed blue oxford shirt belt, khaki pants, polished black penny loafers, and his hair was even combed.
She rolled her eyes disgusted and said, “Oh for the love of…”
He smiled wide with a twinkle in his green eyes and walked to the door, “See you on the terrace when you are ready,” laughing as he went out.

Rosa Celeste: Dante and Beatrice gaze upon the highest Heaven, The Empyrean. This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1923.

Charmeine awoke in a cloud of white and felt no spike in her body.  She saw Shane, her baby, beside her.  She got up and took Shane in her arms.  Instantly, she thought of Tabbruis and how he needed to be saved and ran to the Gate of Heaven.
The Gatekeeper said, “I cannot open the Gate of Heaven.  It has been closed.  God’s Day of Judgment has passed.”
Terrified, her head started spinning and she yelled, “Tabbruis is a good and righteous man.  He belongs with me and our son, not in Hell!”
Unexpectedly, Charmeine saw a bright and perfect light.  She heard a voice say to her…“The Gate of Heaven is closed.  However, you sacrificed yourself to try and save Tabbruis.  I will allow you across the Gate of Heaven to save your husband.  However, you must take your son or you cannot go at all.  I warn you Charmeine, the road to Hell is very dangerous.  You may never find Tabbruis.  You and your son could be left in perpetual night and darkness.”
Charmeine answered, “I do not want to hurt my son, Shane.  However, I must find Tabbruis.  Our son needs his father.  Tabbruis is our soul, our protector, and he does not deserve to be in Hell.  Tabbruis is honest and just!  He is our defender!  Most of all, he is God’s defender!  Please do not condemn a good and faithful Angel like Tabbruis to Hell!”
The voice said, “God knows all.  His purpose may not be for you to know.  However, if you choose to find your husband, Tabbruis, I caution you now, this road is fraught with danger and pain.”
Charmeine took a long piece of cloth and wrapped her son up in sling around her chest.  This left her hands free.  Then she put her hands to Heaven and said in a loud voice, “My family has and will always follow the Lamb, so we can be with God!”
The voice said in soft whisper in her ear, “Accendo Charmeine.  Light your world with love.  Love will always bring you home, my child.  Believe in God, have faith God will lead you.  Love yourself and your family completely, honestly and unconditionally.”
Charmeine started to feel a thousand black hands pulling her down.  Secure with Shane wrapped around her, as soon as she hit the ground, she started running and calling for Tabbruis.  Then Charmeine felt the heat and smelled sulfur.  She heard screams of pain and suffering.
Charmeine realized she was being dragged into the Lake of Fire and Torment.  She began to scream from the pain and cried out, “Oh God, help me!  Tabbruis!  Tabbruis!  God, help me!”

This is a featured picture on Wikimedia Commons (Featured pictures) and is considered one of the finest images.

The Lake of Fire and Torment was getting deeper and deeper, her body was burning.  The fire made her scream in suffering anguish.  Charmeine ripped Shane off of her and held him up screaming, “Tabbruis!  Save our son!  Our son needs you!”
Charmeine shrieked in agony and suffering.
Suddenly, she and Shane were being pulled out of the Lake Fire and Torment.  Charmeine’s defender and soul mate, Tabbruis, was above her.  Disheartening, she cried because his body was scalded and burnt to a crisp.  Flesh just hung off his bones.  His once beautiful, strong and powerful body was reduced to bone and cooked skin.  Tabbruis’ face was nothing but crust.  She recognized him by his eyes.
Charmeine cried in sorrow for him and his pain.
She grabbed Tabbruis and no matter how he looked, she kissed him.  His dry parched flesh and bones became smooth with her kiss.  Charmeine’s love was a cure to Tabbruis.  He began to heal.  As she kissed him, Tabbruis became perfect like he was in Heaven.
Charmeine began to feel his flesh knitting together and his body was cooling under her touch.
When she pulled away, Charmeine looked at herself.  Even though she felt like she was being burned alive, she was not hurt.
Tabbruis took Shane in his arms and kissed his son.
Immediately Tabbruis shouted, “Charmeine, we have to get out of Hell!  There is no time!  The portal to Earth is closing.”
Charmeine said, “We have to get back to Heaven, Tabbruis.”
Tabbruis said, “Charmeine, we will never be allowed to go across the Gate of Heaven.  It has been sealed.  The portal to Earth is our only way out of Hell.”   His eyes became wide and sternly said, “Charmeine, LISTEN!  Heed what I say!  The portal may separate us on Earth by space and time but whatever happens, know I will find you!  Do not be afraid!”

Tabbruis secured Shane in his arms and they ran.  As they were running to the portal, wind was whipping all around like a tornado.
Fallen Angels were running to the portal also pushing and shoving them.
Then a man grabbed Charmeine.
Tabbruis looked behind him and screamed, “No!  My God, Charmeine!  Leave her alone!”
The man was healing his flesh and burns from the Lake of Fire and Torment like Tabbruis did.
Tabbruis quickly ripped her away from his arms and asked, “Are you okay Charmeine?”
She was nauseated from the man’s touch but Charmeine said, “Yes, I think so Tabbruis.”
Tabbruis handed their son to Charmeine.  Tabbruis leapt to defend Charmeine, and the man raised a finger to Tabbruis.  He said, “Temper, temper.”  The man smiled like the Devil at Charmeine.  He said with a sing-song voice of lurid sexuality, “My name is Pascal, and I look forward to seeing you again Charmeine.”  Then Pascal ran into the portal.
Filled with anger Tabbruis lunged for the man, Pascal.  Tabbruis and Pascal were lost in the portal.
Charmeine’s eyes became wide and she screamed, “Tabbruis!  Tabbruis!  Don’t go!  Oh God, help me!  What do I do?  Tabbruis!  Shane and I need you, Tabbruis!”
Fallen angels were pushing her around.  She was struggling with the wind until she felt Shane being ripped out of her arms into the portal.  Charmeine instinctively grabbed for her baby going into the portal.  She had her fingers on him trying to get a better grip but she could not get a good hold.  She cried out, “Oh God! Shane, my Son!  Help me Lord God!”

Still in her dream and looking down, the Angel Charmeine awoke on the beach in Patchogue, Long Island, New York shaken and confused.
The Angel Charmeine did not have Tabbruis or Shane, but she did not know about them either.
The only thing she knew was the first part of her name, ‘Char’ and nothing else.
Everything, all her past had been erased.  She was scared and confused.
The Angel Charmeine was now Charmeine as she now remembered walking aimlessly through the streets completely and horribly alone!

Charmeine began to smell a sea breeze which she loved.  She thought it was a dream because it smelled like the Black Sea.  She also smelled the sweet scent of the plum groves and… roses?  She thought, ‘Am I smelling my rose lotion?’
Navigating her eyes around in her eyelids, she heard voices which said, ‘I am here, I love you.  I am waiting for you.  Come back to me Charmeine.’
Then she heard another voice and it was trembling as it said, ‘Mom, I love you.’
She began to blink her eyes and they were trying to focus.  With weak lips, she tried to mouth, ‘I love you,’ but she couldn’t and went back to sleep.
Charmeine began to dream this wonderful dream of all of her family being together.  They were standing outside at night on the green lawn of the Dmitri’s Castle in Romania.  Meteors were falling all around the constellation Taurus.
She saw the Elder Council was lying about on the grass dead along with their Guards.
Charmeine saw Shane and Sandra!  He picked her up and spun her around like a rag-doll so happy together.
She looked over and saw Dmitri hugging Hera, and two children were with them, she figured it was Percival and Athena.  The little girl had blue eyes and blonde hair, while the older boy stood almost as tall as Dmitri.  They were all smiling with pure joy and began to hug each other.
Charmeine sighed with such happiness.
Then she saw Thomas and a beautiful young woman with him, which she assumed must have been his lovely Laura with long, straight brown hair.  They were hugging each other and kissing passionately.  Charmeine thought they looked so perfect for each other.
Over her shoulder, she heard a soft moan and turned seeing Neal kissing a tall, gorgeous man with dark hair.  She figured it was Neal’s lover, Hameal.

Where is Tabbruis?

All of sudden she felt alone and filled with want of Tabbruis!
Charmeine turned around and he was not there.  Tabbruis wasn’t there!  She was in a bright light and ran trying to find him.  She shouted, “Tabbruis where are you?  I’m here!  I can’t find you!  Where are you Tabbruis?”
She heard a voice in the white light.  It was the same voice she heard in Heaven.
The voice said, “Love Charmeine.  You are God’s child, and He loves you.  Now, you must believe in God’s destiny for you and Tabbruis.  Charmeine, you are a child of the light.  Follow your heart, it will never steer you wrong.  You have saved Tabbruis with your love; now let him rescue you with his. Tabbruis is your husband, and he is strong because of you.”
With that, a bright light only surrounded her and everywhere she looked beyond the light was dark.
“God, I believe you and have faith, but I am scared also,” she said.
The voice said, “Your fears will dissolve if you love.  Love Charmeine… Love.”
*****
Charmeine could feel gravity pulling her down into a body in pain.  She shuttered at the impact of all the agony coursing through her body.
Slowly she opened her eyes.  She turned her head and saw Tabbruis standing at the patio doors facing the sun with his head down, feet spread apart and arms crossed on his chest.  His beautiful multi-colored chestnut hair was blowing in the wind.  He looked like a three-dimensional Greek God come to life, and she warmed with contentment to be with him.  Charmeine said softly still thinking she was dreaming, “Tabbruis, you are so magnificent, I can’t believe you are real.”
Immediately, Tabbruis turned and stared into her eyes with so much love she thought her heart would burst.  He ran falling to his knees by the bed and leaned down whispering in her ear, “My love, my light, my wife, you have come back to me!  Thank you God!”
Finally waking up, she opened her eyes and reality sank in.  She asked, “Where?”

Charmeine and Tabbruis Forever

Immediately, he said in a calm tone, “You are safe now.  We are safe.  We are in Romania.”
She looked at Tabbruis and his green eyes were pale.  He had heavy black circles of unrest and hunger under his eyes.  His pallor was almost lifeless… a grayish hue, and a worry-line looked nearly permanent in-between his eyes.   She asked, “Oh Tabbruis are you okay?  Did you get hurt in the battle?  You look so haggard.  Please tell me you are okay!”
Tabbruis twisted his lips and compressed them together in a straight line.  He gently replied, “I was not hurt, my love.  Do not worry about me, how are you?”
“I could care less about me,” she answered.  “Is everyone okay, including you?” she asked with wide eyes.
