~~SUMMARY~~ EDK-3D-Open-Book-2 A man of ability and ambition, Tuirgeis Erlingrson has nurtured the desire to carve a place of leadership for himself on the Green Island, Éire, that he has raided multiple times. After the death of his wife in Nordweg, he takes his surviving son to Éire. He desires above all things to maintain a safe home for his wife and children in Dal Fíatach. Charis encourages Cowan to do the same, though this makes for tense moments between them. After initial disastrous attempts to achieve his ambition, Tuirgeis comes to learn that there is more to claiming a kingship than merely overpowering the locals. Tuirgeis finds himself at odds with the very people he had hoped would reinforce him. In addition, he wants to establish his father-line. He has one son; he wants another to be born of Éire. Will the woman of his choice accept and support him?At length, Agnarr and Aislinn—though she is heavy with child—sail with Cowan and Charis to join Tuirgeis as he battles over one final summer to attain the High Kingship of the island.Tuirgeis knows he doesn’t have long to make his claims; the Danes are coming in greater numbers than before. As he wins men of Éire to his cause, he has to maintain the relationships he has already fostered with Agnarr and Cowan. Charis finds that her Otherworldly gifts are needed by a man she considers her enemy.
~~EXCERPT~~ EDK-3D-Paperback-1 It was dark in the langhús, save for the glowing of the coals banked in the fire ring. Agnarr enjoyed his wife’s responsiveness to him, and when they made love, he never forgot to thank his new God for letting her live through the births of the children their bodies made together. Before the sun crept under the door and through the shutters over the new windows, they were smiling and silent and relishing the moments—he knew there would only be moments—before the children stirred in the bench-bed they shared. Later, as their son and daughter began shifting restlessly prior to awakening, Agnarr sat up and blew out a breath. “Wife.” “Yes, husband?” She joined him, finding his hand with hers in the shadowy enclosure of their private area. “We need to be ready. You need to be ready. You and the children.” She sighed and shifted on the blankets so that she was looking directly at him. As was her habit, she continued to touch him with her fingers as she spoke. “I can fight. And you gave Dow a real knife at the Christ Mass.” Discomfort tightened his stomach as he shook his head. “You need to be able to escape, just in case.” He knew far too well what would happen if someone found his attractive wife. Someone whom he didn’t know. Someone who would find her dark hair appealing and the tatú on her cheek mysterious and alluring. Someone who would want to take her as their leman, as he had once taken Charis. Someone who might take his son as a slave. Jaw tightening in anger, he shook his head again. Hard. “You know what can happen to you.” Her eyes were on his face, and he met their steady gaze. “And the children. You need to be able to get away. We should find a way to make you safe.” Goodreads * Add to Want To Read List

~~SUMMARY~~Carly Daniels knows what it is to suffer loss. She knows what it is to sacrifice. In the two years since a pandemic virus—known only as the Infection—decimated humanity, she’s made choices she never could have imagined. She’s condoned violence in the name of peace and done the unthinkable in the name of mercy. But with Justin at her side, she’s also learned there’s nothing she can’t face and nothing she wouldn’t do to protect those she loves. But now another threat has arrived in the form of a uniformed man driving an army truck, claiming to represent the remnant of the United States military. Someone has set their sights on their community . . . and on Justin. The struggle to defend their little homeland is far from over, and the visitors may have brought more danger with them than just their weapons. The shadows are closing in. Carly has to find out whether she has the strength to stand on her own when all of her support has fallen away. What remains when the shadows have gone?~~EXCERPT~~ Shadows-Have-Gone-3D-Paperback-eReader
“There’s other news,” Justin said. “We made contact with a man driving an army truck.”“The army?”“Someone with the army?”“There’s an army?”“Whose army?” Pete’s voice rang above the excited babble.“That’s the right question,” Justin said. “Whose army? He might have been wearing a uniform and claiming affiliation, but I have my doubts.”“He claimed to be from the US Army?”“Claimed,” Justin said, stressing the word hard. “And his claim had a few inconsistencies. I was in the Army, and I know. Whatever this guy is a part of, it’s not the army as we knew it.”“What did he want?”“Said he was out scouting and saw the smoke. He agreed to leave a message outside of Clayton if his people want to get in contact with us again. And I would imagine they will.”“Last thing we need is another fight,” Grady said. He took off his hat and wiped the sweat from his forehead. “You think they know where we are?”“General area. We wouldn’t be that hard to find if someone was really searching for us. If they’re really army, then yes, they know exactly where we are as we speak. But as I said, I have my doubts.”“Think it will come to a fight?” Pete asked.Justin scratched his chin. “I really can’t say. What I can say is that we always need to be prepared for it, prepared to defend what is ours.”“What if they really are the army? Would we be America again?”“Wait. When did we stop being America?”“America is dead.” This came from David, his voice as blunt as a dropped stone. “We all saw it die two years ago. I don’t know what we are now, but the Constitution sure ain’t in effect anymore. There’s no government. There’s no social contract holding us together. That’s what America was, you know—a collective agreement of the people. Now we’re just—” He sliced a hand through the air.“If the army is still active, that would mean there is a government, which would make this still America,” Grady said. “They’d be the government’s representatives, establishing order.”Justin shook his head. “You’re thinking way too far ahead. Even if they are US Army—and that’s a very big if—they don’t have control of the whole country. There is no centralized government, no law enforcement. They’re not coming to rescue us.”

Guest Post
Writing a series is hard. What struggles have you faced and how have you overcome them?
There are some particular challenges that come with writing a series. This was my first, so I got to learn about them “on the job,” so to speak. The End of All Things was never meant to be a series. I had envisioned it as one book. When I pitched it to my publisher, I was confident I could write the whole story in about 100,000 words. I had “written” the whole thing in my head over the years, and I was trying to estimate its length by comparing it to a few other stories I had written on the internet. Yeah, it feels about that size, I thought.  I was wrong. I got to about 80,000 words and realized I was only about half way through the story. At that point, I had a moment of minor panic. I contacted my publisher and they suggested that instead of making it one mammoth-sized book, we’d shoot for two. I relaxed a bit and agreed. I wrote to what seemed like a good “stopping point.” In retrospect, I would have done a few things differently if I had planned it as a series from the beginning and realized that’s where I’d be ending the first book. I probably should have plunged right into the second book, but I thought I’d take a mental vacation from the apocalypse and write a historical romance in the meantime. Which was a lot of fun — don’t get me wrong— but it ended up diverting my mind and causing issues later. So, I started The Land of The Shadow, and as soon as it hit the editing process, I realized my mistake in taking that break, because I had a sharp-eyed editor and a lot of continuity errors. They weren’t issues that affected the storyline, but things like, “You said the bracelet was pink in the first book. Now it’s green, and you’re comparing it to the color of So-And-So’s eyes, so that whole paragraph has to be changed.” And there was another issue… Once I got to the end of book two, I realized I wasn’t “done” with these characters. I wanted to continue with them for one more book. I know I could go on writing about their lives in the post-apocalyptic wasteland forever, but I wanted just a little bit more time with them to show how they’ve come full-circle and dealt with their challenges. I think I’ve learned a lot from this experience, and there are certainly things I’d do differently now, but perhaps things happen the way they’re supposed to. At least, that’s what Carly would say.   Goodreads * Add to Want To Read List~~ABOUT THE AUTHOR~~ bc1e2-lissabryan2 Lissa Bryan is an astronaut, renowned Kabuki actress, Olympic pole vault gold medalist, Iron Chef champion, and scientist who recently discovered the cure for athlete's foot...though only in her head. The crowd surged forward, eyes shining and eager hands outstretched.“We’re going to pass the toilet paper out equitably,” Carly said. “Divided up by household.”“That ain’t fair. Some households have more people than others!”“Maybe everyone should get a share, not just households.”“Adults and kids? What about Dagny? She’s just a baby, and babies don’t use toilet paper, so why should she—”“Jesus, people.” Justin rubbed his face. “Look, there are twenty-seven of us—”“Twenty-three,” Carly said softly. “The Swintons left, and then we lost Kross.”Justin grimaced. “I’m sorry. Twenty-three of us. There are three cases of thirty-six rolls here. That makes one hundred and eight rolls, divided by twenty-three. Four rolls apiece. We’ll distribute it that way.”“There’s sixteen rolls left over. Who gets those?”Justin took a deep breath. “We’ll keep them in reserve, okay?” He glared around at the group. “There may be more people coming this way in the future now that—”He stopped because he didn’t need to say that travelers and traders might start coming around again now that Marcus’s men weren’t preying on them, and once the bad reputation this area had gotten began to dissipate.“Any problems with that? Good.” Justin tore open the plastic wrappers and began to distribute it to the eager hands that reached into the wagon.“It’s like being a kindergarten teacher,” Justin muttered to Carly when the last of the crowd had scurried away with their bounty. “Good grief, none of them even asked for the food.”“The person who reinvents a way to produce toilet paper is going to be the richest person in the wasteland,” Carly said.“Carly?”She turned and found the Reverend standing by, Dagny in his arms. She was chewing on her favorite toy, a set of plastic keys that she held out to Carly in an offer to share.Carly took her baby into her arms and kissed her plump little cheeks. “No, thank you, sweetie, but thank you for offering.”“Mom mom.” Dagny snuggled her forehead into Carly’s neck.“I’m home now,” Carly said. “Sorry I had to leave you.”“Where is Kross?” the Reverend asked.Kaden was sitting on the end of the wagon, silent, staring off into the distance. The Reverend eyed Kaden for a moment and then rubbed his chin. “I see.”“There were more,” Carly said. “More people. Beside Marcus’s crew, I mean. There were . . . victims.”“The whole damn place is a blight on the earth.” Justin’s jaw clenched, and Carly saw that hard glitter in his obsidian eyes. “Cursed.”The Reverend gazed at Carly. “Did it convince you that what you’ve done was right?”“I don’t know about right,” Carly said. “But I know it was the only thing that could be done. What I’m asking you about is . . . they didn’t have any kind of funeral, and I feel like I should . . .”“The dead don’t really need prayer, Carly. The prayers are for those who have to live on. But I’ll say a few words for them at our next Sunday service.”She gave him a brief smile. “Thank you.”Carly shrugged into the baby carrier, and Dagny kicked her legs in excitement. She said something that sounded like home, but it might have been hum, mum. Carly turned her head to smile at her and said, “Yes, going home.”
She took Shadowfax’s bridle, but before she could begin to draw the horse toward home, Justin leaned over to murmur in her ear. “I’ve got something I need to do before dinner.”Carly suppressed a sigh. Didn’t he always? But this was the life she had chosen for them. “Go on. I’ll have your plate waiting for you.”He smiled and kissed her before pecking a kiss on the top of Dagny’s head. She let out a little squeal and reached for him, but Justin just gave her a little wave.Carly watched as Justin headed across the commons and wondered where he was going. She supposed she’d find out soon enough, so she and Kaden started down the street.Shadowfax apparently felt that Carly wasn’t giving her enough attention and nibbled playfully at Carly’s shoulder while Carly led her toward the barn. Dagny laughed as the horse’s breath tickled the top of her head.“Let me take Dagny,” Kaden said, eyeing the horse with eyes sharpened by caution, and Carly agreed, slipping the baby carrier from her shoulders. As much as she loved her animals, she knew they could hurt the toddler without meaning to, and they had to be careful.Carly kept pushing Shadowfax away, but the mare would dart in as soon as Carly’s eyes drifted away and start again. Carly stopped the wagon to give her a hug. Shadowfax laid her head over Carly’s shoulder and lifted a foreleg to hook it around Carly’s hip. “Whoa,” Kaden said. “What is that?”“It’s the way she hugs people,” Carly said.“I’ve never seen anything like that.”“Well, she’s a special girl.” Carly patted Shadowfax’s neck.“No, I think Justin’s right about you. You’re some kind of animal whisperer.” Carly laughed “Not quite.” She drew back, and Shadowfax turned her large head to gaze at Carly with one large brown eye. Carly stroked her velvety soft nose. “I’m sorry, girl. We’ll be able to spend more time together now. Sam’s mad at me, too, you know.”She scratched the itchy place in Shadowfax’s mane near the top of her head, and Shadowfax gave a soft snort of enjoyment.“I’ll put Shadowfax away,” Kaden said, taking over Carly’s grip on the horse’s halter and handing Dagny back to her. She propped Dagny on her hip and eyed him with speculation.“Thanks. You okay?”“Yeah, sure.”She raised an eyebrow. “No, really.”“I will be.” Kaden shuffled his feet against the grass. “That’s the way it is, you know? You have to be okay these days.”She gave him a hug, awkwardly with one arm but full of love nonetheless. “You don’t have to be okay all the time, you know? And when you’re not okay, we can talk about it. It really is better if you do. Ask Justin. He’ll be the first one to tell you that keeping it all bottled up inside isn’t a good idea.”Kaden gave her a slight smile. “Yeah, but he still does it.”“He’s working on it.” Carly bumped his shoulder with her own, and his smile grew. “Come inside when you’re done with the animals, and I’ll make you some dinner.”“Okay.” Kaden headed toward the barn and then paused. He looked back over his shoulder. “Carly?”“Yeah?”“Thanks.”
She nodded. “Any time.”

Armed with hatred deep in his bones, all Cyrus cares about is getting even, and Zane has it coming. Cyrus soon finds himself torn between the crippling desire for revenge and his responsibility to his friends. When he begins to spend time in the company of the beautiful and pureblooded vampire, Isidora, her presence in his life makes him rethink his priorities. Reckoning-3D-Bookstack Isidora is able to read minds. The thoughts she hears from the respected and irresistible vampire, Cyrus, are filled with both anger towards Zane and a deep admiration for her. Being closeted all her life, Issy has no idea what to do in the face of the outside world’s war, death, and challenges. One thing is clear. She craves Cyrus, but his need for vengeance is clouding his mind. After discovering a previously hidden family member and being called to serve the Council, Issy is at a crossroads in her life and struggles to find the right path. Both vampires face tough choices. Should Issy pursue her feelings for Cyrus or wait until he can return her affection? Will Cyrus deny his attraction to Isidora so he can kill the man who made his life a living hell on earth? Every decision leads to a reckoning.
~~EXCERPT~~With Isidora in his arms, Cyrus found comfort from the torture of his nightmares and his past. The warmth of her touch and the sweetness of her kisses made him think of nothing but the present and the desire he had long denied.Cyrus had no idea how to take things between them. He had given her rough sex because he had been a jealous ass. If he’d been thinking clearly, he wouldn’t have done it. Yet he had given in to the intense need to possess her. Maybe, if he took things slow and started from the beginning, he could make do with the little kisses and touching. However, the tenting inside his pants was a cause for concern. It didn’t take long for her to notice. Reckoning-3D-Paperback-eReader Issy broke their kiss and smiled up at him. She had that gleam in her eyes, the kind that told him she knew what he was thinking. He rotated his hips, trying to create room between their bodies, but she refused to let him go.“This is a good time to see if we can work things out.”“Damn it,” Cyrus muttered. Was he ready? The answer was out of his hands. With the massive wood he was sporting, even a long dip in an icebox wouldn’t chill him out. His body needed Issy, and there was no doubt she wanted him, too.“Cy, you can take charge of everything. We’ll go at your pace and on your terms. I’m here to enjoy the ride.”This made him smile. “Even if the ride is bumpy?”“As long as I’m with you.” She tightened her arms around his waist. “I don’t care how rough, how easy—just take me with you.”Goodreads * Add to Want To Read List

~~SUMMARY~~Pre-med student Sarah Jones is back in Beaver, Alaska, for summer vacation. A loyal member of the Gwich’in tribe, she accepts the rules set by her father, the leader of their small town. Raised in a strict household, she learned early on to do what is expected of her and has agreed to an arranged marriage. Despite her reluctance to marry without love, Sarah is unwilling to defy her father’s wishes. She hopes to help usher in an era of independence and stability for the town, but for now, her focus is finishing med school so she can become Beaver’s resident doctor. 10985573_1773370876221799_7732791205552470490_n Business owner Greg Andrews needs a change of atmosphere, away from his philandering wife and life in general. Leaving New York City to join a hunting expedition in Alaska, Greg’s plans are turned upside down when he is shot on Gwich’in land and ends up on Sarah’s operating table. In the absence of a qualified doctor, Sarah must operate to save his life. She refuses to wait for the consent of their tribal leader, and her father banishes her from the tribal land in punishment.Grateful for his life, Greg concocts a scheme to help. Plagued by the side effects of her unconventional operation, he convinces Sarah to become his live-in nurse. Without the means to support herself, Sarah agrees to the questionable arrangement, but she soon finds herself in even more trouble. Her new problem is that she is falling in love with this infuriating man, and the choices she now must make are much more difficult than the simple act of saving a man’s life.Together, Sarah and Greg must both decide whether they can overcome the vast differences between them, or if the indivisible line that separates their worlds will ultimately pull them apart.
~~EXCERPT~~For the first time since he had been brought in the clinic, Sarah got a good, long look at him. She noted the perfect blond hair that fell on the side of his face—matted but still perfect. His features were rather forbidding, even in his unconscious state. The defined jawline framed well-proportioned lips that were pale and parted slightly. The suggestion of dimples on either cheek made her ache to see him smile. Then there were the long, dark eyelashes and the contoured nose, all coming together to create a striking, attractive package that kept her eyes glued to his face. Indivisible-Line-3D-Paperback Her heart began to race. What is wrong with me? Shaking off another wave of nausea, Sarah closed her eyes and concentrated on breathing. Her knees weakened underneath her, but she kept on inhaling and exhaling. A few more minutes and it would be over.In her short life, Sarah hadn’t met a man who evoked the well–documented “butterflies-in-the-stomach” phenomenon. Now here she was, staring at a complete stranger with her heart banging against her chest in a frenzy. This man was just too perfect, too beautiful almost. She was even gladder she’d managed to keep him alive. He’d make a woman happy someday, if he hadn’t already. Instinct made her eyes travel to the man’s ring finger, and her heart skipped when she found it bare.Goodreads * Add to Want To Read List  ~~Book Trailer~~ [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l2di...]

What struggles did you face and how have you overcome them? So far, I haven’t faced any major difficulties as far as the storyline for every installment for my existing series is concerned. The Gates Legacy series (which happens to be my only series at the moment) has a multitude of characters and each book focuses on two main characters while introducing the next ones for the following installment. With that said, there are enough meaty subplots, back stories and scenes to last me until the fifth book of this series is written, and even for the spin-off series that is already brewing inside my head. However, what I encounter while writing the stories has more to do with keeping the balance of information and when to give them away. It is about knowing when to introduce a particular concept or even keeping tabs of the character names and the chronological order of incidents. The easiest one to write for me was the first book, Hunted. The reason for this is being the first one, all the ideas are fresh and telling the story is not a daunting task. On the second installment, I have to constantly go back to the first book and check the order of incidents, positions, and descriptions are accurate. Furthermore, I have to check on the death register just to be certain that a particular character is still alive. Let’s face it. This series has seen so many deaths—enough to give anyone whiplash. It gets harder as we delve deeper into the series because I’m constantly reminded by my well-meaning authors to give a short description of a certain character or incident to make it easy for the readers to follow just in case they caught the series in the middle. Now that is quite ironic considering I’m the author and I’m having a tough time following every single detail. It’s a tough call on when to give a certain idea to keep the balance as well as the interest of the readers. Sometimes, I find myself wanting to give all the details in one sitting which can create confusion since this series involved a long list of characters and multiple subplots. I think the best thing I have done with this series is the introduction of multiple points of view. While each of the key characters tell their stories, I have all the time to pace the narration and stay true to the main plot.

REVIEW: The One That Got Away

Here is my review for The One That Git Away by M.B. Feeney:

When I got the chance to read The One That Got Away by M.B. Feeney, I grabbed it with both hands. I've been a fan of Ms. Feeney's since her first book, and one of the things I've noticed about her writing is how much she's grown as a storyteller. And in my opinion, this book is her best yet. The love story between Heidi and Shane was so realistic. The attraction was there, but it wasn't the cliched loved-at-first-sight kind. The characters had real problems, real doubts, and they were written in a way that made it easy to connect with them.

My only criticism would be that I wish there had been a bit more build up between when they were the ones that got away and to when they reconnected. I would have enjoyed reading more of how they found each other again, but overall, the story was amazing. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read!

BLOG BLITZ: Diane Munier's Me and Mom Fall for Spencer

The house next door to Sarah and her mother Marie has been vacant since the murder that happened there when Sarah was ten. Their neighbor, Frieda, was like a second mother to Sarah and she died brutally and the neighborhood never recovered. No one has lived in Frieda’s house for seventeen years. Imagine Sarah’s surprise when it finally sells to an on-line buyer. She looks through the thick growth separating her house from the other and a wild man looks back. He’s not exactly wild. He’s thirty-seven year old Spencer Gundry. Once he shaves the beard and gets a haircut, he’s not hard to look at. Well Sarah’s mom doesn’t think so, and neither does she. Problem is, Spencer has a few secrets of his own.
Things don’t sell quickly in this town, that’s for sure. But with the murder, no one wanted Frieda’s haunted house even though it was repainted beige and all personal knick-knacks were long gone. Such as blood spray on the walls. No one wanted that really.
So imagine my shock, or dismay I should say, when he moves in. I see him over the fence. I go out there because the squirrels keep stealing my sweet corn and I only planted four short rows. So I go out there to whack a stick at the squirrels and I see that rental truck in front of the place and no sooner do I think about that and here he comes from around the back of it.
Right off I am interested. I mean, who buys a house where…who does that?
But I’m oohing and owing my way to the backdoor cause, no shoes, and I am nearly there when he calls out, in a very handsome voice, a voice so nice I would know it belonged to a very handsome man if it’s all I had to go on. And he is handsome. I knew that at the three second glance when he’d first manifested from the back of the rental truck.
The closer he gets the more right I am. And I have to make myself not bolt.

SNEAL PEEK SUNDAY: Unscheduled Departure by T.M. Franklin

Sneak peek sundayToday we get a sneak peek at T.M. Franklin's paranormal romantic adventure, Unscheduled Departure! Unscheduled DepartureSummaryRowan Elliott is devastated when her boyfriend, Finn, tells her he’s moving across the country to take over the family business, and thrilled when he changes his mind at the last minute and gets off the plane.
But then things get . . . weird. Finn’s acting strange, and Ro’s getting mysterious phone calls that have her questioning if her boyfriend’s really who she thinks he is. As Ro races to figure out what’s going on, she discovers it’s more complicated than she could have ever imagined.
And if she’s not careful, she could lose her Finn forever.
Excerpt"You okay?"I hummed something in response. "Where were you when you called?" I asked, half-dozing already."Hmm?"I opened my eyes to look at him drowsily. "I got your voicemail, but I couldn't really hear what you were saying."He scanned the road before turning the corner leading to my apartment building. "Voicemail?"I sat up, the queasy feeling in my stomach easing back in. "You said you had bad service. Said you loved me and we'd make it through this.""Through what?""You tell me." I was getting irritated. What the hell was going on?"Ro, I have no idea what you're talking about," he said, pulling to an abrupt stop in the parking lot of my apartment building. "I never left a voicemail. Not today."I fumbled in my bag for my phone. I was not imagining this. "You did. You called—" I thumbed through my calls and held it up victoriously so he could see. "—at 12:06 p.m. today. See?"His eyes narrowed at the screen. "That says Private Number.""Yeah. Yeah, I know. I was going to ask you about that.""Why do you think that was me?"I rolled my eyes. "Because you left a voicemail!" My voice grew louder, a little screechy, but I couldn't help it."Babe, I never left you a voicemail today!" Finn said, aggravation growing in his own tone. He pulled out his own phone and stabbed at it a few times. Finn's familiar ringtone sounded on my phone, his picture popping up on the screen, along with his name."See?" he said. "At 12:06 I was driving. I didn't call you. Whoever that Private Number was, it wasn't me." He tapped his phone and the ringtone stopped.I stared at my phone and rubbed my forehead. My stomach roiled and an ache throbbed behind my eyes. "I don't understand. I heard—""Let me listen to the voicemail.""It...got deleted." I met Finn's unreadable gaze and knew how it sounded. Weird. Crazy. But I had heard him. It was Finn.Wasn't it?Shelve It Unscheduled Departure Buy it
