Comforting Things
This is a time where we all could use a little extra comfort. What are some things in literature and in real life that bring you a calm happiness? What lights a comfy tealight in your soul?
For me it’s…
CATS, because they are the bestest, snuggliest good-os there are
TEA with enough sugar to make a fairy’s teeth rot
BOOKS, whether they end bitter-sweetly or HEA (happily ever after–which is the kind of ending I’m leaning toward these days)
CANDLES ^ like the ones from FrostBeard that are liter...

Recommend a Book
Have you ever enjoyed something so much that you couldn’t stand it and had to walk away? Probably not.
Right now, I’m reading the fourth book in a paranormal romance series (Darklight by Bella Forrest.) I was really enjoying the tension and the chemistry between the two leads, but things started going poorly for the characters. Like, things are really, really bad. Normally, I might just plow through, but not this time. I can hardly take any tension at the moment, so I’ve had to put the book asid...

Lessons I’ve Learned: Quarantine Edition
Well, self-isolation is ending in some places (Im not getting into whether or not I agree with that) while social distancing is still encouraged. Its times like these that we learn something about ourselves. Someone online suggested that you are boiled down to your essential, true self.
I did learn some things about me during quarantine. Like that fact that I am easily stressed and grow distraught at the drop of a hat. Those are two things Ive always known on a certain level, but never really...

What’s Up
What Im reading: Right now, Im reading two different series by indie author Bella Forrest: Darklight and Harley Merlin. For those not in the know, Darklight is about vampires seeking asylum in our dimension after a hole is ripped in the divide between theirs and ours. Harley Merlin is about a young woman with abilities who discovers shes not alone in the world as she always thought.
Both series are extremely fun and relaxing to read, though Darklight has had me on the edge of my seat several...

Tethered Worlds
Today I have a guest post from writer R.A. Johnson. Enjoy!
Tethered Worlds
by R.A. Johnson
Here we sit at a standstilla tethered world. In the midst of this crisis, you can find peace. Picture yourself back in time, perhaps as far back as the 1800s. In those days they played parlor games, knitted, read books, wrote books, made art, journaled, took long walks, and prayed for health and goodwill. Picture yourself as Emily Bronte or Jane Austen. Place yourself in character such as Jane Eyre....

Hiatus? Maybe
I made it! Three months in a row, I blogged every Friday. Now its April, and were in the midst of a pandemic. Inspiration is at an all-time low. Im struggling just to write tweets, never mind Facebook posts and blog posts or words on my novel/s.
Its a tough time. Stay in, take care, and hopefully youll hear from me next week. If not, that means Im taking a hiatus to work on my mental and emotional health.
You guys are the best! Keep your nose in a book,
Beth

Preparedness for the Coronavirus
So. I wrote a post two weeks ago, before things escalated to where they are today. I gave the usual advice (dont panic, stop spreading misinformation, no hoarding, wash your hands, etc.) and it still stands. But we all know it, and while it bears repeating, I wanted to say something more.
You dont have to panic.* Really. Life is a scary mess on the surface. But we have not been abandoned. Lets love each other, be kind, and look up. You are very loved

For advice and information on the...
