Drawing and Fun
Hi everyone!
I hope your holidays treated you well. Back to the old grind, eh? Wait, wait, WAIT. Let’s not put it like that. Let’s not let it BE that. I want to have fun. I want work to be fun and experimental. I want to take risks.

On and off throughout my life, I’ve dabbled in drawing and painting. I’ve never had any lessons–and it shows. Remember when I talked about needing a hobby? Something that wasn’t work but ALL fun? Well, I’ve decided to...

New Year, Non-negotiable Goals
[image error]
We’ve said farewell to a decade, guys! It’s the ’20s again, and that is cause for celebration.
I considered attending a Roaring ’20s NYE party, but I’m not big on crowds. Or booze. Or being out late, for that matter. Did you y’all do anything fun to ring in the New Year? Kiss someone special?
Since it’s the beginning a new year, I’ve set a few goals for myself. I have other people depending on me now, so most of these goals are pretty much non-negotiable:
Send in polished (final) draft of...December 27, 2019

Mental Illness and the Holidays
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanza, the New Year, Festivus (my spell check recognizes that word, huzzah.) I celebrate Christmas, Jolabokaflod*, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. I also have several disorders that I’m coping with. And I’m an introvert…or maybe just very shy.
OCD + clinical depression + social anxiety disorder + more = a tangled ball of Yuletide Fear.
At a party, OCD’s all like, “Hey, I wouldn’t drink anything. You might have to use someone’...

Christmas Movie Bingo
Hey, everyone! I’ve been thinking about all of the Christmas movies I have watched throughout the years, and was wondering: who else has seen what I’ve seen? Soooo…I’ve decided to do a game of Christmas movie bingo. Whoever gets five in row going up and down, side to side, or diagonally, gets bragging rights and can pick up a free copy of LADY CATHERINE SAYS, if they want. Just email me. Ready? (If you have trouble viewing this, please let me know and I will try to work something out.)

Book Lover’s Christmas List
If you have an avid reader on your Christmas shopping list, here are some ideas that will hopefully spark your imagination.
*
Shopping for a Jane Austen fan? These advent calendar gift bags look awesome! Each day up until Christmas has a numbered bag with a print of an Austen character on it, along with their name and what book they appear in. You could put all sorts of cool little gifts in each bag and make it a yearly tradition.
Know a Harry Potter fan (skip this if you’re squeamish about...

Happy Early Thanksgiving
Next week is Thanksgiving (US)–can you believe it?! And, not to induce an unnecessary major panic/freak-out for anyone, but
CHRISTMAS IS ONE MONTH FROM MONDAY–AHHHHHHH
Sorry. I had to.
What are your Thanksgiving plans, US peeps? Anything in particular that you’re grateful for this year?
A very happy weekend to all!
Keep your nose in a book,
Beth

Interesting Tweeps – Leigh Hartman
Today I have writer and fellow Twitter peep (Tweep) Leigh Hartman on my blog. You can follow Leigh on Twitter at @HistFicHartman.
BETH: Hi Leigh! Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed on my blog. I’ve followed a lot of interesting people on Twitter, and you are one of them, hence the name of this blog series: Interesting Tweeps. Catchy, right? No, don’t answer that.
Tell me, please, what is your favorite thing about Twitter? What makes you stay on?
LEIGH: As...

Book Signing – May 2020
I announced it first in my newsletter and to my Street Team, but I have my first engagement booked for The Goblets Immortal’s release! The Amherst Public Library (Ohio) will be hosting me for a signing and launch party on May 16th of 2020 (time TBD.) There will be books for sale there, free refreshments (possibly), and maybe this time I’ll do a reading. To do voices or not to do voices: that is the question…. Not.
Stay tuned for other in-person, in-print, or virtual appearance announcements.
