There's More Than One Way To Burn - Jude Ouvrard's short contemporary romance - Keep Me Warm #contemporary #romance
KEEP ME WARM by Jude OuvrardGenre: short story contemporary romance
When a fire turns your heart into ice, it can’t possibly melt without revealing scars.
Adele has lost everyone and everything she loves. Now she’s coping with an unwanted new reality which includes working as a maid in a chic hotel in downtown Seattle to make ends meet. Uninterested in a relationship, her frozen solitude suits her just fine.
She thinks.
When a handsome guest walks into the room she is cleaning and sets her frigid life ablaze again, Adele discovers there is more than one way to burn. Will this new friendship be a smoldering ember or ignite a conflagration which could consume what remains of her heart and soul?
Sitting in the back of a cab on a cold, starless night after an amazing night with my friends, I see flames leaping from a roof down the street and the flashing lights of firetrucks. Checking our location, I try to convince myself the chaos is far from my place, but the closer we get, the harder it is to breathe. My chest aches and my mouth is dry. In actuality, we’re very close to my home.“This can’t be real,” I mumble to myself.
When we reach the last corner, a police officer asks the cabbie to stop. Panic and agony build in me at an unreal rhythm. There’s no more question as to whether it’s my home, our building, on fire. I jump out of the car and run toward the scene, but am held in place by two strong men. Though their hands are keeping me in place and they’re talking to me, I don’t hear anything.
“My husband and my son are in there. My husband… my son… please. Hurry!” I yell at them urging them to get my family out. Pushing their hands away, I try again to run inside to get them myself. My life is in there. My whole world. “Gabe? Brock!” I pray calling upon all the Saints, and God.
“Ma’am, you can’t go inside. It’s too dangerous.”
Crying, hurting, and looking everywhere around to see if they’ve made it out, I don’t see them. I don’t. The firefighter is trying to bring me to the ground. I’m kicking, pushing, and punching, though; there’s nothing stopping me while I yell, “A boy and a man from apartment four, on the second floor.” Pushing myself from the ground with my legs, once more I’m trying to run away.
“Ma’am, you can’t go in there.” Another man has joined the first, and together, they drag me out of the danger zone.
“Where are they?” When his face falls, void of all emotion, I know how bad my life has just gotten.

Jacquie Biggar's holiday romance - Silver Bells #holiday #romance
SILVER BELLS by Jacquie BiggarGenre: Holiday Romance
Mystery writer, Joel Carpenter, has no time for romance. He has a deadline to meet, and too many skeletons in his closet to trust the slightly spinny artist renting his house.
Christy Taylor has her hands full dealing with an ailing business and a diabetic daughter, she doesn't need the temptation that is her landlord, Joel Carpenter.
Can a Christmas wish bring two stubborn souls together and give a little girl the gift she wants most?A family of her own.
A pair of dark brown hiking boots—size enormous—came into her line of sight and her heart skipped a beat. Most people on the island were friendly and kind but she was a woman on her own and it was rapidly getting dark. How stupid. She tightened her grip on the bag and cursing the fact she’d been so irresponsible, slowly rose to her feet, her gaze following the long, clean line of jean-clad legs, dark cotton shirt, tucked in and belted at the waist, open leather jacket, and chiseled jawline covered in a day’s worth of stubble. Glittering eyes stared at her from a deeply tanned, aloof-looking face.
“Quit following me.” The voice matched his visage, cold, harsh, and unforgiving.
So much for her fantasy hero, Christy stiffened and glared. “Kind of full of yourself, aren’t you?”
He leaned back and crossed his arms, his stance unforgiving. And to think she’d found him intriguing. Ha, more like infuriating.
“So it’s just a coincidence that every time I turn around, there you are?” He lifted a hand and she flinched. He hesitated, then rubbed the back of his neck. The rasping sound along with the backdrop of the swishing waves made her feel—restless.
“Look, I don’t do interviews, okay? Not even for cute little pixies. Tell your boss, next time I’ll call the cops.”
Incredulity overrode her curiosity. “Are you serious? I have as much right to be on this beach as you do, buddy. Trust me, you’re not half as fascinating as you seem to think you are.”
In between one breath and the next, Mr. Personality seized the bag out of her grip and delved inside.“Hey, give that back,” she cried, trying to wrestle it out of his grasp.
“If you have nothing to hide…” He pulled the drawings free and turned his wall of a back on her.
Christy couldn’t believe this was happening. Adrenaline zipped through her body, leaving her feeling more alive than she had in a long while. And it was all due to this… this jerk ripping pages out of her workbook while she stood by helpless to do anything about it. All that work—gone.
“Please,” she begged, her throat husky. “I meant no harm. I draw for a living. That’s all they are, drawings.”
At least the shredding stopped.
He leveled his gaze on her again, as though deciding whether to throw the whole bag out to sea or not. She really hoped not. It had taken months to save up for those pencils. They were the very best and made a huge difference to the level of her workmanship.
“Please,” she said again.
He hesitated, then folded the sheets of paper he’d taken and shoved them into his jacket pocket before handing over her bag.
“Next time you might try asking,” he said dryly. His voice floated on the breeze as he clumped away in those heavy boots. “The answer would’ve been no, by the way.”
Was it too much to ask that he trip over his enormous—arrogance?

This is the story of a man who dared to listen to the land and the woman who went in the face of society to change the world. Lady Valaria and Master Dallam may reside in vastly different social strati, but deep down inside they are very much alike. Both have family issues that push them to succeed and both wear blinders when it comes to certain aspects of their world. Lady Valaria, the ambassador’s daughter, is a scientist who believes many of Earth's problems exist because people are not eating the nutrients they need. She is fascinated to find that someone on her planet, Master Dallam, has coaxed the barren landscape into offering up her bounty. There is an instant attraction when the two meet, however, both are determined to ignore it and get on with the business at hand. Things start looking up for this headstrong couple but fate and a certain hateful half-brother set a wrench in the works. And when that doesn't work he resorts to greater measures to rid himself of any obstacles to achieving his political dreams. Will good conquer evil, and will Valaria and Dallam live happily-ever-after?
BLURBDallam’s sleep-weary voice startled her, and she turned to see he had stripped off most of his clothing. A pair of loose-fitting cotton pants hung low on his lean hips. Her eyes traced the muscles of his torso. She sat there staring at him as he lounged against the doorframe before finding her voice. “I’m sorry I’ve invaded your space. I thought you would have turned in for the night. I’ll leave.” The speed and agility a man of his size possessed surprised her as he stepped before her, blocking her from standing. He crouched by the stool and nudged her hand away from where she was still rubbing her aching foot. He took her foot between his two large hands, and, despite the bite of pain from the pressure, it felt marvelous. She couldn’t help but moan, and then followed it up with a nervous chuckle. “I can’t believe just how much my feet ache, but your touch is amazing.”She’d never felt like this before, both soothed and disturbed. Her usual bouts of physical contact occurred to scratch an itch with no real intimacy and no emotion. Yet she found she enjoyed spending time with Dallam, enjoyed spending hours in stimulating conversation about everything from the mundane to the fantastical. He shared the same passion for his work she did for hers. She appreciated his intellect and how her social standing had no impact on his interactions with her.The longer his fingers roamed her sore foot muscles, the more she lost thought of anything and everything but the feelings he evoked. She moaned again and dropped the journal, wanting more from him. She didn’t care about anything except his fingers on her body, and she wanted them on more than her feet. She reached out and clasped his hand in her own, stopping the motion. His bright eyes imprisoned her. She could see the desire and the regret in the depths, but she knew he would step away from her with just one word. She would utter no word. She took the initiative and bent forward, kissing him. Her lips skimmed his. After the brief touch, she smiled as he moved her legs into his lap and took a seat on the stool. He made no move to resume the kiss.
About the AuthorAbout Me . . . just a little because I'm pretty complicated I am an author, a reader, a reviewer and proofreader. You can blame my parents for my love of reading and my personality! My first vivid memory is of my mother sitting me down on the potty with a book in my hands. Ever since then I will read anything available including extremely outdated magazines and shampoo bottles (rinse and repeat).
As far as my personality, when you are named for an amatory Roman Goddess you can’t help but start reading Harlequin novels when your classmates are still reading Judy Blume.
When I was a teen my father used to yell at me to get outside in the fresh air and I would have to sneak a book down my pant-leg, which was no easy task seeing as I was (and still am) a supreme klutz who trips over her own feet at least twice a day.
I usually have a minimum of four books on the go at the same time. I read fiction and non-fiction anything I can get my hands on; I love kilted hotties, demons with hearts of gold, shapeshifting Alpha males and any well-written leading man. My favourite heroines are curvy gals, after all I find them easy to relate to. However my favourites are happily-ever-after romances.

New Release - Wrapped Up in You by Erin Bevan #contemporary #holiday #romance
WRAPPED UP IN YOU by Erin BevanGenre: Contemporary Holiday Fantasy Romance
Princess Jenny Claus has thirty suitors to choose from to take on the role of Santa and her husband, and only three weeks to do it. When an outsider crashes into and destroys the toy factory, her Gala and the prospect of Christmas for children everywhere are ruined.
Logan Moss awakens from his plane crash, suffering from partial amnesia. Surrounded by a world he always considered make believe, he has a hard time accepting his new surroundings. Except for one snow princess who he’s deeply fascinated with. And when Logan realizes she only has three weeks to pick a husband, he begins to feel compelled to be that man. Problem is, he can’t remember if he has a wife.
With Christmas getting closer, Jenny has to make the hardest decision of her life...duty or love.
She gazed over the rest of his physique. Broad shoulders strained the stitches of his suit jacket, and from the looks of his chest, she would be willing to bet he hit North Pole Fitness on a daily basis. His grin showed snow-white, straight teeth, and a blush crept up her cheeks at his sparkling, undivided attention. An answered prayer. At least God hadn’t taken a vacation day.
Her eye twitched again. Benigan must have thought she winked at him because his smile widened, and he twitched his eye back at her as he strolled away. She’d probably just filled the man with false hope. Then again, his chances seemed pretty great compared to the others, so maybe she hadn’t. Was this small flutter in her stomach love? Was this what all the hype was about?
She’d expected a bolt of lightning to shoot from the sky, something earth shattering that would flip her whole world on its head to point her in the right direction. So far, all she got was a flutter…
A loud BOOM suddenly shook throughout the cottage walls as the lights flickered overhead.
Okay, that was definitely earth shattering.
She sucked in a breath and spun around to glance at her parents. The orchestra stopped playing while the party guests ceased their mingling and began speaking in startled cries and hushed tones.
Her father stood from his white and gold throne to place his hand on the small of her back.
“Dad, what do you think that was?” she whispered. “I don’t know.”
Sirens wailed in the distance as Peace and Joy, her father’s assistants, ran for the stage, each pressing a finger to their ear pieces.
“Ladies, what’s wrong? What’s happening?” her father asked.
“It’s the toy factory, sir,” Peace replied, nearly breathless.
“The toy factory? What about the toy factory?” Jenny grabbed her father’s arm and squeezed.
“A plane has crashed into it,” Joy answered. “It’s on fire.”

Christmas tidings of comfort, joy, and temptation - Cover reveal for Jenna Jaxon's Seduction at the Christmas Court #coverreveal #regency
Cover Reveal for SEDUCTION AT THE CHRISTMAS COURT by Jenna Jaxon
BLURB:Alyse and Geoffrey, Lord and Lady Longford, have journeyed to the glittering Christmas Court of King Edward III in the year 1349 to wait upon the king and take part in some Yuletide merriment. However, when Geoffrey is suddenly called into the king’s service again, Alyse must remain at court, attending the queen and persuading her rebellious sister to accept an unwanted betrothal. When rumors of Geoffrey’s death arise, Alyse fends off an old suitor who wants to renew their friendship. But how long will he take “No” for an answer?EXCERPT:“This entertainment will be tedious. I would much rather retire for a good night’s bedding right now,” he whispered, the puff of his breath tickling her ear and sending prickles of excitement down her neck. She laced their fingers together. “’Twill be finished ‘ere long, my love. Then you can wield your weapon with a vigor yon knights cannot.”He laughed and drank deeply. “Aye, sweet Alyse. My skill with both weapons outshines any other knight.”“As you will not want me to be judge of that, I think, I will demur to your claim, although I will test your skills again with the one blade ‘ere the night is done.”At Geoffrey’s bark of laughter—so loud it turned heads on the dais their way—Alyse settled back to watch the mummers, her cheeks burning, but a pleasant anticipation building within as well. The mummer playing St. George took the center spot in the Great Hall and began a sing-song rhyme that soon had the court laughing at its nonsense. A stream of knights—played in turn by the other mummers—approached, made their rhyming challenge, and were quickly slain by St. George, whose wielding of his sword became swifter and swifter. He slayed the knights in such short order that by the time he faced the final knight, he did no more than look at the Turkish knight than the man fell down, his toes jingling softly as he landed on the soft rushes covering the floor.A burst of laughter and applause followed that performance as the quack Doctor shuffled forward, his “magic potion” in a large bottle, gripped in his hand.Thoroughly engrossed, Alyse laughed and clapped her hands. She held her breath and leaned forward as the Doctor poured the potion down the throats of the slain knights, spoke his own rhyme over them, and one by one, they began to twitch and dance, the rush-strewn floor seeming to come alive as they did. The room resounded with merriment as all seven knights revived.Loud applause burst out from the courtiers, many of whom threw gold and silver coins onto the floor. Geoffrey tossed a gold florin to the Turkish knight. “For my lady’s pleasure,” he called. The man nimbly caught the coin and made a deep bow. “Thank you, my lord.”With a lecherous grin, Geoffrey grasped Alyse’s arm and urged her to rise. “And now allow me to attend to my lady’s pleasure as well.”

From my NA contemporary romance- Dancing in Circles.
Scene set - Julie and her friends have planned a horse riding day at a local ranch - but Julie is terrified of riding.
She glanced back towards the barn. Somebody walked between two horses leading them in her direction. Oh great, my turn. Remember, big, brave girl. You can do it.When the rest of the body emerged from between the horses, Julie broke into a wide grin. You're alive!"How're ya?" Robert wrapped the reins over a rail.
Dancing in Circles. One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.
Amazon
What people are saying 5 Stars - I loved the cover, as well as the story. I liked the school setting, and the description in the beginning of Julie and her friends. Julie is the dreamer, searching for a happy ending. I also liked Robert, who is a "bad boy" gang leader, "from the wrong side of the tracks," etc. One of Julie's relatives says he has a heart of gold, and he does. He's smart and practical and I think he's great.

Contrary to her nature, trading in her heels and curling iron for an easy chair surrounded by cats sounds appealing. Is she cursed, or can she find the man who will steal her heart?
The Rock and Roll Fantasy Collection takes place in a mystical world where rock and roll will save your soul.Although the books can be read in any order, the collection begins with It's A Marshmallow World before moving on to Scary Modsters ... and Creepy Freaks, Queen Midas In Reverse (all found here in Pretty Things), and then Voices Carry and Moonlight Serenade (both also found in the special set Forever Changes).

Enjoying San Francisco as a backdrop, the ghosts in USA Today Bestselling Author Diane Rinella's one hundred and fifty-year old Victorian home augment the chorus in her head. With insomnia as their catalyst, these voices have become multifarious characters that haunt her well into the sun's crowning hours, refusing to let go until they have manipulated her into succumbing to their whims. Her experiences as an actress, business owner, artisan cake designer, software project manager, Internet radio disc jockey, vintage rock 'n' roll journalist/fan girl, and lover of dark and quirky personalities influence her idiosyncratic writing. ABOUT TERRI NIXON
Terri was born in Plymouth in 1965. At the age of 9 she moved with her family to Cornwall, to the village featured in Jamaica Inn -- North Hill -- where she discovered a love of writing that has stayed with her ever since. She also discovered apple-scrumping, and how to jump out of a hayloft without breaking any bones, but no-one's ever offered to pay her for doing those.
Since publishing in paperback for the first time in 2002, Terri has appeared in both print and online fiction collections, and is proud to have contributed to the Shirley Jackson award-nominated hardback collection: Bound for Evil, by Dead Letter Press.
As a Hybrid author, her first commercially published novel was Maid of Oaklands Manor, published by Piatkus Entice (a digital-first imprint of Little, Brown) in 2013. The paperback is published by Piatkus Books. The two further books in this series: A Rose in Flanders Fields and Daughter of Dark River Farm are published by Carina UK (a digital-first imprint of HarperCollins)
Terri's self-published Mythic Fiction series set in Cornwall, The Lynher Mill Chronicles, is available in paperback and e-book.
Terri also writes under the name T Nixon, and has contributed to anthologies under the names Terri Pine and Teresa Nixon. She is represented by the Kate Nash Literary Agency. She now lives in Plymouth with her youngest son, and works in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Plymouth University, where she is constantly baffled by the number of students who don't possess pens.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/terri.nixon.page Twitter: @TerriNixonGoodreads Author Page: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7161840.Terri_Nixon Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/telnixon/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/telnix Blog: https://terrinixon.wordpress.com/ Website: www.terrinixon.com

Spotlight on erotic murder mystery/ romantic suspense - The Warrior in Me by Anita Philmar #erotic #suspense
Jurassic Park Theory with Neanderthal DNA
Remember in Jurassic Park how scientist recreated dinosaurs for the DNA recovered from mosquitoes.
Well, now that scientists have found Neanderthal DNA in humans what if they discover, that this is the missing link to psychic abilities?
True or not, this is the premise in which I used to build my new series The Ancient Warrior Prophecy.
A secret society of people have Neanderthal DNA. They know the power, which is being passed down through the generations. Their leaders and shamen have been passing down the knowledge of the tasks they need to perform for humanity. This prophecy requires strong men and women to step up and save us from the destruction of the world.
The Warrior in Me – yes, it appears to be nothing more than a simple murder mystery with strong romantic elements. But it also reveals the secret people who carry the burden of saving the world. How they work to protect the secret of Neanderthal in the human genome.
The Warrior in Me – Erotic Murder Mystery/ Romantic suspense
Blurb:
Special Security Agent Sebastian Berlin is eager to track down his partner's killer. Instead, he’s assigned the job of baby-sitting a scientist. His boss thinks she's the key to an Ancient Warrior Prophecy. Science never interested Sebastian, but the know-it-all female standing at the end of his Alaskan dock could persuade him to do a little experimenting. That is, if he can keep his Neanderthal Warrior genes from taking control.
DNA specialist Lily Sinclair is in need of a vacation, or so her over-protective ex-husband tells her. Arriving in chilly Alaska instead of sunny Cancun, she's tired and cranky and so not in the mood for her bodyguard's he-man tactics. Still, there's something about the sexy eye-candy that makes her want to lick him all over even as she's demanding to go home.
Then Lily's ex is poisoned, and Sebastian is certain the two murders are connected and she could be next. She knows he's hiding something, but with the worldwide release of Neanderthal DNA project only days away, she has no choice but to trust him to protect her. But can she trust him with her heart?
Excerpt :
She blinked. He had to be joking.Lifting her hand to her chest, she sputtered, “Excuse me, what did you say?”“Cain was murdered outside your lab.” He rephrased the sentence, but her brain registered only one word…—murdered. She jumped to her feet and planted her hands on his desk. “Why didn’t anyone tell me this before now?” She glanced around for her purse. “I need to call Mark. We have to call the police and find out what the hell happened. Did they break into the lab?”Without waiting for his reply, she turned and headed back down the hallway to where he’d left her suitcase. She didn’t see her handbag anywhere near it. Did she leave it in the small, tin-bucket-sized plane? Or had Bruce left it on the dock?Desperate for answers to a whole host of questions, she rushed outside. “Damn it, Bruce, how do you expect me to stay in touch with home if you fly off with my purse?”
