Spotlight on E. Ayers latest - Loving Matilda from the Montana Sky Series

Hi, Victoria. Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog and allowing me to visit with your followers.

I know I've virtually vanished off the face of the earth. Not quite, but I have dug into my writer's cave as though I were hibernating. Sometimes I have envied our furry friends who do that. How many times have we wished the children would just sleep for more than twenty minutes? How many times have we wished we could just snuggle in with our honey and sleep? No alarm clock, no job, no reason to get up? No meals to fix, no bathrooms to clean, and no vacuuming. And one of my favorites is the idea of sleeping through labor and delivery. Not that I would have preferred to miss that exciting time, but the idea of sleeping through all that pain…And although honey doesn't mind our extra pounds, we get to lose them as we sleep! Easiest diet ever! Instead, I have emerged from my cave to the dirtiest house ever! But I'm hoping it will be worth it!Several months ago, Debra Holland asked her friends to join her in Kindle World. Oh, what fun! We've all been writing stories set in Morgan's Crossing, Montana. This is different from a boxed set or an anthology, because we've all written our own stories tied to Morgan's Crossing. They will be available individually. Many of us have brought our own characters and places into the stories. We've borrowed each other's characters as we've written, used Debra's, and had a grand time interacting and chatting behind the scenes. I've been working with some authors such as Caroline Clemmons who I have admired for years and now I call these authors friends. Everyone involved in this project is a skilled author, and we all have totally different ways of writing and speeds with which we write. Some are pantzers and some are plotters. And what exactly does that mean? It just reinforces the concept that there is no perfect way to write a story except that somehow, words have to be committed to virtual paper, and they aren’t going to magically appear. It requires hands to keyboard. When I write, I go to what I call the computer room and I stay there and write. No TV or music, just total quiet and I write. Okay, I lied, my dog goes in there with me, and she has a habit of barking at every tiny sound. She’s the reason I stand up and walk away from my computer. Usually she needs to go outside, and when she’s done, she gets a good dog treat. But there are times she thinks she’s entitled to more than one treat. She has me very well trained. In spite of the interruption, I go back to writing, because that’s the only way the words will appear. When faced with deadlines and my slow typing speed, I don’t dare waste time. This is the first book being released this year. But I will have another historical novel releasing this summer. I’m committed to at least two additional books this year one of which is another historical. I’ll be honest, I enjoy writing the historical novels and doing some of the research, but the research does take time. And then I get caught up in what I’m researching and spend way too much time.Fortunately, my readers seem to enjoy my stories that are historically accurate and they are often surprised to discover how things really were back in that time. I don’t write historical facts. I write about people and how they lived and loved.

BIO
Born and raised with wealth, E. Ayers turned away from all of it and married a few days after turning eighteen, to the shock and dismay of family and friends.A firm believer in love conquering everything, there was never cause to look back. The newlyweds’ life-long love became the springboard for many future novels.Fascinated with the way people deal with everyday problems, E. Ayers has always been an observer and a listener. A simple problem for one person is a mountain for another. Utilizing those common predicaments, the subsequent novels have touched many lives.Today finds E. Ayers writing while living in a pre-Civil War home with a dog and a cat. Rattling around in an old money pit provides one’s muse with plenty of freedom. A perfect day is spent at the keyboard, coffee in hand, and everything in the house actually working as it should. As the official matchmaker for all the characters who wander through a mind full of imagination and the need to share, E. Ayers enjoys finding just the right ones to create a story.

Another point for my Ruby-Slippered Sisterhood total #FlashFiction #amwriting

I'm multitasking. I've decided to start the rewrite of my flash fiction - Sunrise and get  it ready for publication under the Romantic Flashes series. Sunrise will probably be a 2 book series.

Also, I'm participating the the Ruby Slippered Sisterhood which in Jan and Feb holds a writing challenge to score 50 points. You set up how you will collect your points and then try to meet your challenge.
example - 1 point for attending yoga class (because an author has to stay healthy)
2 points for writing a chapter (3 points if it's over 5,000 - lol)
1 point for editing a chapter and putting it on blog

What is a flash fiction? I belonged to a group that posted weekly prompts that were to inspire us. I added the personal challenge of using as many as I could in my weekly chapters. Some weren't suitable as this is a sweet romance story and some of the pictures or written prompts were on the "hot" side.

And the author who was supposed to post on my blog today isn't available.

Chapter 4

J'dol dismissed the scent of summerberries drifting from her hair as he leaned close. His mouth hovered next to her ear. "Who are you and where the hell am I?""I ct t wt o hng m?" Sian slapped her hand on the table top. Her fingers nudged her coffee mug. She grabbed it and threw it over her head."Hey!" J'dol released his grip and jumped back as hot liquid streamed down his face.Sian shoved back her chair and spun around to face him. "How the hell am I supposed to answer your questions, when your hand is over my mouth?"If eyes could throw flames, J'dol knew he would be burnt alive. She reminded him of his sister when she was angry. A pang of loss stabbed his heart. Using his sleeve, he wiped his face."And just who the hell are you, sneaking up and grabbing me. I should call the cops." She turned slightly to look for her cell.J'dol grabbed her wrist. Sian twisted her arm and pulled back, breaking his grip. She swung her left arm, but he raised his and blocked her strike. She tried to kick, but was hampered by the chair. He jumped aside then retaliated by lunging forwards and tackling her to the deck. She struggled for a few moments until he straddled her and pressed her flat with his hands holding her arms on the boards.Looking down at Sian, he watched her pupils dilate as she scanned his face. A sudden urge to kiss the feisty woman tickled the back of his mind. "I said, who are you and where the hell am I?""I won't talk with you holding me this tight.""That does not answer my question.""Sian. My name is Sian and who the hell are you?"J'dol." He leaned back on his haunches releasing his pressure on her arms. He glanced around the deck and back towards the cottage. "Where is your man?"She rubbed her wrists. "I don’t have a man."He raised an eyebrow. "A woman lives alone? That is not safe."She matched his facial expression. "Excuse me?"J'dol stood and offered a hand to help her stand. "Who protects you?" His eyes closed as dizziness flooded his brain. He stumbled into the side of the table."You're hurt."He gripped the edge of the table and shook his head. The jolt of energy had worn off. The pain of his wounds and his loss poured back into his mind. "Where am I? Where is Orondonto? My village. It should be…" He waved his arm. "It should be here.""Sit." Sian pointed to a deck chair. He wrapped his fingers around her small forearm. The scent of summerberries filled his nostrils. Focus. Ignore her. Ignore her beauty. "Where is my village? I must find it. I must bury—" A sob tried to escape his lips, but he swallowed it back."Sit!" Sian's gaze flashed anger.  "You are hurt. You're bleeding."J'dol's knees buckled and he plopped onto the chair. She raised both hands in front of him. "Stay there. Don't disappear again. I'm going to get the First Aid kit. I'll be right back."He watched as she scurried into her home. She was a beautiful woman. Were it not that his heart was filled with loss and anger, he could woo her. Bringing his mind back from fantasy to reality, J'dol glanced about. A very large home, in perfect condition, stood where the charred shell of the bakery had been moments before. No destruction was visible. Instead large white flowers with sun-yellow centres decorated the land. On the table, several were in a tall mug with a yellow ribbon wrapped around the outside.Nothing made sense. The air was fresh. No putrid scent of burnt flesh revolted his senses. The sky was a brilliant blue. No storm. Birds sang happy songs. This was all wrong. Where was he?Sian startled him from his thoughts as she dragged a chair closer and sat. She placed a white box on the table and opened it. Medical supplies filled it. "Let's clean the wound on your cheek first." She released a soft snort. "The cop tried to convince me you were a fish. Fish, my ass!"J'dol sat patiently through her efforts to cleanse his wound. She pointed to his arm. "Can you pull your arm out of the sleeve, so I can...uh…see…the injury."A soft blush covered her cheeks. J'dol wondered if she was feeling as ill as he was?He reached his arms across his body to pull his shirt over his head, but yelped in pain.Sian jumped, leaned closer and pulled apart the tear in his sleeve. "Oh. I think wrestling with me, made you shove the…wood…further into your arm."J'dol peered at his wound. The gash dribbled blood and a large piece of charred wood bit into his flesh. The throb in his arm was nothing compared to his back and leg."What happened?" Her voice was soft and relaxing to his ears."They attacked. They destroyed my village. Killed everyone. Killed…Odine." He lowered his head and squeezed his eyes shut."Let's go inside. You can lie on the couch and I can get a better look at that."J'dol opened his eyes and saw her hand before him, held out, offering to help him stand. He wanted to grasp her hand. Feel the comfort of her warm flesh. But he had no right. He was a warrior. He had to avenge his village. He pushed up off his chair. His head spun. Conceding to needing assistance, he followed her into her home.He stepped into the living room and recoiled against the door frame. On the wall was a large painting of a tall, greyish teal, slender woman, with elongated, pointy ears. She wore a tight silver breast plate and flowing green skirt. Large earrings adorned her ears. By her clothes, J'dol recognized her as royalty. The enemy. He turned and growled. "You are one of them."

Let's Try this Again - Dancing in Circles on Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday

Link back to WWW
From Dancing in Circles - NA contemporary romance. So last week I posted but forgot to sign up on the linky list - doh! So here's last week's post for this week. And yes, I checked to see that I'd signed up this week.

Scene set - Called out by classmate, Stephan and the football team, Robert faces his challenger - but he has a surprise waiting.

Stephan straightened his shoulders, trying to look menacing. Julie bit her lip as Robert walked towards the group. He'll get killed. He can't possibly fight the whole team.Robert positioned himself in front of Stephan. Both men glared, visually challenging the other person. With a rustle of leaves, several black leather jacketed figures dropped from the surrounding trees and formed a group behind Robert. "Hey, guys, I was wonderin' when ya all was gonna drop in."

Blurb – One born into privilege and a charmed life surrounded by love and family. The other born to a life of violence on the streets as the solemn gang leader of the notorious Shoresmen. A young, idealistic co-ed, Julie, meets a jaded, cold gang member, Robert, and cracks his icy shell, allowing the warmth of her love to awaken his soul.

5 Stars - Author Victoria Adams does an excellent job at bringing characters to life. I really enjoyed living through Julie's dream of becoming a dancer and her connection with Robert. Yeah, Robert may have gotten himself in the wrong crowd, but he really does portray a compassionate person and in the end he really does grow on you. Can't wait to see the next one in the series!

Welcome to the 127th week of My Sexy Saturday #MySexySaturday #MSS127

Welcome to the 127thweek of My Sexy Saturday.
This week’s theme: A Sexy Encounter - well - more of a playful encounter.
From NA contemporary Circles Divided -

He sat on his motorcycle, leaning on the handlebars. His helmet rested on his lap and the wind blew through his hair. He wore his jean jacket on over his leather jacket to ward off the brisk November air. His long fingers stuck out of his cut off gloves. His unshaven face broke into a lopsided grin when he saw her step through the doorway.Julie flung her dance bag over her shoulder, stood erect, raised her head so her nose tilted up and walked along the sidewalk."Hey lady." Robert nodded towards the dance studio. "You see a cute little ballerina in there?"She turned her head only enough to glance at him then continued walking.Robert dismounted his bike, scooted up behind her and spun her to face him. "I was talkin' to you. And I don't like bein' ignored."Julie rolled her eyes and yawned."Too good to talk to me, eh?" He grinned. "Maybe I should check to see if your mouth is broken." He slid his hands into her coat, around her waist and under her blouse. As his lips touched hers, Robert placed his icy fingers on her warm bare back.

Is the love of a girl from wealthy Westland and a street punk from the slums of the Shore strong enough to surpass all that life will throw at them and forge a life together? Is Julie willing to sacrifice her childhood dream of becoming a professional dancer for the man she loves? Is Robert willing to lay down his ties to the gang in order to hold onto his new found love?
Sacrifices must be made, but will they be enough?

Excerpt from Fake It:JJ Keswick was even more gorgeous up close, in a completely unfair kind of way. Everything about him was exactly like the fairy tales, teen rom-coms and auto-tuned pop songs promised it would be, right down to the halo of light from the window on the stairs that made his fashionably messy blond hair glitter like freshly polished gold. “Hi,” he said, his cupid’s bow mouth tilting into an annoyingly alluring crooked smile. “Are you lost?” Jessica asked him, her dinner plate eyes betraying the careful coolness of her tone. “Maybe,” he replied, his smile flickering into a full-blown wicked grin as he pushed his sunglasses up into his hair. His eyes gave him away, as they do with most people. Up close, I could see that they were a couple of shades darker than I had expected. They were not summer sky blue. Instead, they were like the last gasp of a winter afternoon, inky, conflicted and streaked with darkness. The bags under his eyes looked like bruises, and he seemed paler, smaller somehow as he stepped into the room. “Can we help you?” I asked him, forcing my politest smile onto my face. “I’m here to audition,” he said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his never-gonna-have-kids skinny jeans. “You?” Ash laughed, shaking her head. “But you’re JJ Keswick!”“At least ninety percent of the time,” he replied, his shrug indicating that her surprise was not unexpected. “No offence, JJ, but this isn’t a joke,” Jessica began as she put her bass down. “We’re a real band, we’re good and we’re looking for someone who will take this seriously.”“How do you know I won’t take this seriously?” he asked her, something like fire stirring in his steady gaze. “Because you never take anything seriously,” I pointed out, unease battling with curiosity right in the pit of my stomach. “Well, looking this good doesn’t happen by accident,” he said, turning to me with a small, knowing smile on his face. He did look perfect for the part he seemed so intent on playing. Those jeans could have been stolen from the wardrobe of a dozen different rock stars, the kind of musicians that caused extreme adoration in all who saw them. They hung low, exposing a strip of skin across his stomach and hinting at what looked like a tattoo across his hipbone. The spindly, delicate lines dipped below his waistband in an inescapably tantalizing way. The tee shirt he was wearing was surprisingly simple, a white v-neck with the sleeves rolled up to display his lightly muscled, tanned arms. I could feel his eyes on me, watching me watching him. Something about his presence made my stomach twist, as if the radiance of his appearance did nothing but illuminate everything that was just average about me. Jessica crossed the room, pinching me as she did. I glanced down at her, the curiosity in her expression matching my own. We had nothing to lose by letting him embarrass himself, I supposed. “Fine,” I sighed, shrugging out of my guitar. “Give it your best shot.”I could feel Dylan and Ash’s disbelieving stares as I sat back down, but they didn’t argue. They made their way back to the table, throwing glances over their shoulders at JJ. He nodded once before pulling his phone from his pocket. He turned to the docking station, his shirt riding up as he leaned over. Ash elbowed me, winking and blowing kisses behind his back. I rolled my eyes at her, folded my arms and focused my gaze on a spot on the wall behind JJ’s head. The beat of his chosen song filled the room as he turned back to face us with a silver hip flask in his hand that he had seemingly produced out of thin air. He kept his eyes on me as he took a quick sip before tucking the flask into his back pocket. I vaguely recognized the song—a radio friendly pop song with lyrics that were much darker than the slickly produced track suggested. As it turns out, JJ Keswick was just full of surprises. He didn’t just sing the song, he owned it, the whisky tainted rasp of his voice rising and falling perfectly in line with the backing track. He didn’t miss a beat, didn’t falter, his gold tipped eyelashes fluttering against his flushed cheeks as if he had spent years seducing people with his voice alone. I could tell that I wasn’t the only one that had been caught off guard by him. Jessica had gone completely still, her eyes impossibly wide and fixed on JJ. Ash had slumped a little in her chair, gaze half lidded and glossed lips parted ever so slightly, utterly disarmed. Even Dylan was making something that could have been an expression, the corners of his mouth at least two millimeters higher than usual. The spell was broken as soon as the track faded out. JJ grinned at us, his confidence blinding. He knew he was good, just like he knew he was gorgeous, his talent mirrored in our stunned expressions like the flawless reflection he no doubt spent hours preening over. “Well, that was . . .” Jessica began, looking at me as if hoping I was still coherent enough to string together an adequate response. I was overwhelmed by how good he had been. He was the best singer I’d heard in a long time. Listening to him had lulled me into a new daydream—Daydream Three, where the half-empty rooms of Daydream Two were replaced with arenas full to the brim with screaming fans, each of us bathed in the glow of a thousand camera flashes as JJ dazzled everyone with all the swagger and seduction that came naturally to the greatest frontmen. “Thanks for coming in,” I said, slipping into customer service mode. “We’ll let you know.”He clearly wasn’t prepared for that response, and the mask of confidence cracked at the edges of his faltering grin.

Just a post because...

Today's author didn't send the media - so I'm tossing up a post about beaches. Why beaches - because I live in Canada and it's winter. It's dull, grey, snowy and about this time of the year, I begin to miss green.

I miss warm sunshine. Walking in the beach. I love to walk on the beach. Don't know why. I just do.

So here are some of my beach photos. Sit back. Stare and fantasize.

The first 2 are from St. Simon Island, Georgia.

The next two are Coco Beach, Florida.

And the last 2 are Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

Sun. Sand. Waves. I love it.

Busy days and constant travel leave no time for anything more than the occasional short-term relationship—which is just the way he likes it. He’s come to accept the regret of leaving the woman he loved for the pro rodeo circuit. The future is set for both, until a chance meeting ignites long buried emotions neither is willing to face.Forced to work together, their attraction grows, even as multiple arson fires threaten Cassie’s new home of Cold Creek, Colorado. Although Cassie believes the danger from the fires is remote, she knows the danger Matt poses to her heart is real. While fighting his renewed feelings for Cassie, Matt focuses on a new and unexpected opportunity offered by MacLaren Enterprises—an opportunity that will put him on a direct collision course with Cassie. Will pride and self-preservation control their future? Or will one be strong enough to make the first move, risking everything, including their heart? No Getting Over You, book seven in the MacLarens of Fire Mountain Contemporary series, is a full-length novel with an HEA.Excerpt:Staring at the MacLaren family pictures on the wall, Matt waited for Cassie to join him. It had been over thirty minutes, and given her usual insistence on being punctual, he had to attribute the lag to a desire to let him stew. It didn’t faze him one bit. He’d wait her out, no matter how late it got. At some point, she’d have to face him.“Okay, I’m here now. What do you want to discuss?” Cassie breezed into the room, not making eye contact as she lowered herself into a chair.Matt held her gaze, uncaring of how stern his next words would sound. “Your thoughts on the changes. Specifically, if you’ll be able to accept I’m your boss and you’ll be reporting to me.”“And if I don’t?” She lifted her chin, daring him to threaten her.“You’ll be gone, the same as anyone else.”Cassie blinked, knowing if she didn’t produce results, her father would agree to a termination. He’d give her no special privileges. Treating family different than regular employees wasn’t tolerated at MacLaren Enterprises. You were professional, showed respect, and did your job. No excuses. If not, you were gone. “Fine.” She stood, turning toward the door.“Hold on a minute, Cass.”“What? There’s more?”“I want to know what you mean by fine. Are you saying you’ve bought into the program and are on board? I don’t want any misunderstandings between us.” He took a step forward, then stopped when he saw her eyes narrow in frustration…or resentment…or possibly desire. He couldn’t tell which. All she wanted was to leave. Get out the door and away from Matt. She’d made him wait for her to join him, not because of the changes, but because her traitorous heart wouldn’t stop pounding like a bass drum. Being this close to him did dangerous things to her body. Breathing became difficult, labored, the walls closing in around her. Ever since she’d spotted him coming through the front door, she’d fought the attraction so hazardous to her health. She could deal with him, but only if he kept his distance and didn’t require face time. Taking a couple steps closer, she tilted her face up, fisting her hands at her sides.“What I’m saying is I’ll report to you and do my best to meet your expectations. But I’m warning you, Matt. If you start feeding bullcrap reports about my work to Dad and the others, there will be hell to pay!” Cassie’s face reddened as her eyes sparked.Holding up his hands, palms out, he took a step back. “Calm down, Cassie. No one is trying to sabotage you.”“Oh, right. That’s easy for you to say. You waltz in here after disappearing for years, and all of a sudden, you’re the golden boy, handed a promotion which vaults you above Sean, Skye, or even me. We’ve all been paying our dues. What the hell have you done?” Crossing her arms and planting her feet, she glared at him, daring him to explain.“I didn’t ask Heath for a job. He came to me. What would you have done?”Without missing a beat, she took a step toward him, stopping within inches of his face. “I would’ve realized I’d be jumping headfirst into a firestorm. Do you have any idea what it’s like to be in my position with the change? Of course you don’t. You’re still a selfish sonofabitch without a clue of how your actions affect others. It’s always all about Matt and what he wants. No one else matters, and no one gets in your way. Well, I have news for you, hotshot. Your job won’t be some easy ride where you can float to the top on Skye’s and my achievements. You damn well better show everyone how good you are or you’ll be out on your butt just like anyone else.” Her voice had hardened with each sentence until she’d gotten out the ball of frustration knotted inside her.The clear combination of anger, betrayal, and pain on her face hit Matt like a punch in the gut. He’d had his share of disappointments, knowing how it felt to be shoved aside.“Cassie…I—”“Save it, Matt. I’ll do the best I can, but it won’t be for you. My best will never be for your benefit ever again.” Turning, she froze at the sight of Heath, Jace, and Rafe standing in the doorway. Pushing past them, she didn’t explain further. She was certain they hadn’t missed a word.

Yikes. I joined another writer's group #IWSG

Link Back to IWSG
Welcome to my Februaryposting for ISWG. Where we: post our thoughts, talk about our doubts, any fears we may have conquered, discuss our struggles and triumphs, and offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling.

Before I start  - sorry for having to scroll down - as I said I, accidentally, double-booked my blog today because I am incapable of reading a calendar! *rolls eyes and shakes head in disgust*

Last month, I wrote about the new writer's group I'd joined. A writer's group where I had to go and meet people. Actual flesh and blood humans!

Well, I am glad to announce – I survived :-).  The meeting flowed along swimmingly. Each month they have a writing challenge. I read mine in a strong clear voice – although by the time it was my turn I was a bundle of jelly inside.  When I read it, people laughed in all the right places and the applause at the end was genuine.
The challenge was to write a piece – max 750 words – about breaking rules. One of my favourite topics.  There were at least 20 writers there and the stories/essays were varied and interesting.
I live way out in the country and the closest city is rather small. I was amazed that there were 20 people at the meeting. I'm looking forward to the next time I can attend, which unfortunately isn't in February as I have a previous engagement on the meeting night.
So what am I insecure about this month? I joined another writer's group. I gotta stop doing that!!! And this group wants a blog post. So?? You're wondering what the problem is as this is a blog post on my blog. Well, when I went to check the blog for the types of posts they do. They are professional looking and writing oriented and that's not me. I don't do posts about "How to write a book." Or "15 Things you should be doing to promote your brand."
If you poke around my blog, you'll see I have the promo blog thing down pat. Having to write something about the profession scares the crap out of me. I never feel like I'm…smart enough…professional enough…worthy???
So I've got a month to get over this or run and hide under a rock somewhere. (Secretly, if you know of a good rock to hide under, let me know.)
I let you know what happens.

Spotlight on - By the Rules (Evergreen Grove #3) by Elisabeth Staab

About the BookBy the Rules (Evergreen Grove #3) by Elisabeth StaabM/M RomanceRelease Date: 1/19/2016He thinks I want him because of the rumors around town. Because I think he’s easy. I want AJ, because he’s AJ. No liars. No suits. Absolutely no straight guys… AJ Fabin’s list of rules keeps him safe. Since getting kicked out of his parents’ home and attacked by a former escorting client, his rules and his life in the tiny town of Evergreen Grove provide a quiet haven. He may be lonely, and he may stick out like a sore thumb, but the folks like him well enough. When he’s not dodging his old pimp, things are peaceful. Hayden Price is having a quarter-life crisis. Engaged to a woman he can’t connect to and working a job he secretly hates, he comes to Evergreen Grove to help his mother through a health scare. Returning to his childhood home makes Hayden reevaluate a lot of things, including himself. When he meets AJ and finds he can’t stand the mouthy jerk—almost as much as he can’t stop thinking about him—he has a lot more to change than his career. To be together, they’ll both have to break all of their rules. By the Rules is book 3 in the Evergreen Grove series, but reads as a standalone.Amazon | ARe | iTunes | Google | Kobo | B&N | Goodreads Excerpt (AJ's POV)You know that movie where the devastatingly handsome billionaire falls head over heels for the former rent-boy with a heart of gold and they ride off into the sunset with their limo, their unicorn collection, and a cuddly little Bichon Frise?Okay, me neither.Nobody’s ever gonna make that movie, because nobody would buy the premise. Not even if Julia Roberts does make the prospect look all kinds of glittery-ever-after on camera. And for real, I’m telling you I could rock a string of diamonds just as well as her (I could!), even if you wouldn’t catch me dead in an evening gown. Or doing a douche who drives a five-speed penis-mobile.Well…maybe it would depend on the penis-mobile.God bless Richard Gere’s fine ass in a three-piece, though. I may have a rule against dating a guy like the one he plays in Pretty Woman, but there’s nothing wrong with a little fantasy. Like a big ol’ slab of red velvet cake, it may not be healthy for you to eat, but looking doesn’t cost any calories.Rule #1: Watch out for rich guys in business attire. They’re sleek, gorgeous, and powerful looking, like jungle cats, and as likely to take a chunk out of you when your back is turned.Rules aside, Gere’s chiseled cheekbones help me stay awake when I’m stuck behind my ratty, wood-paneled check-in desk, working dusk to dawn at The Grove Inn. Not much else going on at night in the speck of a town that is Evergreen Grove, NC.Once in an extremely blue moon we get a flurry of activity after dark like a tired traveler or two, but mostly it’s me, my laptop, and my movie marathons. Next up is An Officer and a Gentleman, because I’m all about indulging a good movie star crush. Gotta get my feel-goods where I can. Travel/Memoir - A Blonde Bengali Wife by Anne Hamilton

A BLONDE BENGALI WIFE BY ANNE HAMILTON

Travel/MemoirRelease Date:       Originally released October 2010. Reprinted 3 November 2015
They all said that Bangladesh would be an experience...For Anne Hamilton, a three month winter programme of travel and ‘cultural exchange’ in a country where the English language, fair hair and a rice allergy are all rare in the extreme was always going to be interesting, challenging and frustrating.  What theydidn’t tell Anne was that it would also be sunny, funny and the start of a love affair with this unexplored area of Southeast Asia.A Blonde Bengali Wife shows the lives beyond the poverty, monsoons and diarrhoea of Bangladesh and charts a vibrant and fascinating place where one minute Anne is levelling a school playing field ‘fit for the national cricket team,’ cobbling together a sparkly outfit for a formal wedding the next.Along with Anne are the essential ingredients for survival: a travel-savvy Australian sidekick, a heaven-sent adopted family, and a short, dark, and handsome boy-next-door.During her adventures zipping among the dusty clamour of the capital Dhaka, the longest sea beach in the world at Cox’s Bazaar, verdant Sylhet tea gardens, and the voluntary health projects of distant villages, Anne amasses a lot of friends, stories...and even a husband?A Blonde Bengali Wife is the ‘unexpected travelogue’ that reads like a comedy of manners to tell the other side of the story of Bangladesh.

ABOUT ANNE HAMILTON
Anne Hamilton wrote A Blonde Bengali Wife after she fell in love with Bangladesh on her first (of many) visits there. The travelogue inspired the charity, Bhola’s Children, and continues to support it. Before she became a full time writer, editor and tutor, Anne’s career was in social work and community health – which led to many of her earlier international travels.  Anne can never quite decide if she comes from the East of England or the West of Ireland, so she compromises by living in Scotland, with her small son; they still travel when they can. Anne has a PhD in Creative writing from the University of Glasgow, and is the editor of local online magazine, Lothian Life. She is currently revising and seeking representation for her first novel, Chasing Elena, and working on her second.Facebook:    https://www.facebook.com/ablondebenga...Twitter:        @Anne_ABBW     & @AnneHamilton7Goodreads:   https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8860907-a-blonde-bengali-wife http://anne-ablondebengaliwife.blogspot.co.uk/ www.annehamilton.co.uk www.bholaschildren.org
