Made-It Monday: Cake The Fifth

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! The rules are easy: post a pic somewhere of something you’ve made in the last week (ish; let’s say in the last month as the hard-and-fast) and tag it. Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

More cake! If you were playing along on social media, you’ll...

More #FoxBook Songs: Silk Road By Hannah Peel

Hannah Peel all over is very #FoxBooky, but this one is a particular favourite, all the more so after seeing the music video that goes with it for the first time in constructing this post. The eerie, disjointed nostalgia of the accompanying video is just #FoxBook all over, and it makes me all squishy in the feelings. If the book comes out with HALF that much *weight*, I’ll be a happy lil chappy.

Back To The #FoxBook Playlist: Human By Gabrielle Aplin

Let’s get back to some #FoxBook music for a couple of weeks, since I’m in the throes of trying to wrestle this beast of a book into submission again.

I swear, this book, urgh. It is either going to kill me with doubt or kill me with pride, there will be no in between >.<

But anyway, this lovely, emotive song hits the nail on the head:

Show me that you’re human, you won’t break
Oh love your flaws and live for your mistakes
And beauty’s on the surface wearing thin
Come closer show the marks upon...

You Can Kiss My Fat… ;)

I mentioned Amy Sheppard yesterday in my post, and in browsing back through her Insta feed, I realised she’d released a single with accompanying music vid. As the pioneer of the #kissmyfatass tag, and given her wonderful IS feed, I thought the song would be good – but it’s actually better than I’d hoped. Catchy, boppy… Not surprised that her followers have reported hearing tradies whistling it on worksites

On Who I Have Been, And Who I Choose To Be

I’m tearing up a little as I’m writing this, because I’m writing this on Sunday, and my Nana is dying, and I fully expect that by the time this posts on Thursday, she will be gone. (And that makes four grandparents in four months. Can 2019 just stop already, please?)

My mum has been going through the old photo albums, pulling out pictures of Nana, who lived with us for a while when I was little, and who often came to stay. She was the grandparent I saw most growing up, and I have a lot of...

General Updatey Post Of Things

*deep, contented sigh* Deadlines are over for the year, my health is steadily improving, sleep is actually a thing, and I had a whole weekend with *no homework*. I had a few of those in September, but that’s because I was ignoring the homework, not because there was nothing that needed doing

Ermasquersh, It’s Book 16!

That’s right, book 16.

You guys. I’ve made 16 books. o.O Wow.

Anyway, today is release day for How To Create Life, my cute lil handbook for writers (and anyone else interested in comparative anatomy) about why plants and animals look/function the way they do, and what habits result in what appearance, and what climate results in what appearance, etc etc. Very cool. The research for this one was a lot of fun, as was going through the process of designing my own creature and plant (and...
