Inanimate Objects: 4, Humans: 0

In this house, we are notvaliantsoldiers in the war against the unalive. Around here,the battlefield is strewn with sleepy people.


I suppose it started on the mountain. After the astronomy lecture on Mt. Tamalpais, we took special care to pack all our stuff, rolling up the picnic blanket and tying it into its carrying strap, then diligently searching our area in our flashlight beams to make sure we got everything. Then we shouldered it all and hiked back to our car.


No blanket.

Shipbuilder is on the Front Page of Addicted to Books

That was fast. I just found out about Addicted to Books yesterday (through Ruthanne Reid, whose book, The Sundered, was up yesterday). I signed up, sent them my book info, and lo, The Time Travel Journals: Shipbuilder is the second book listed on today’s front page!


If you don’t click on the link today, you probably won’t see Shipbuilder on the front page. They change the first page daily. You’ll have to “search this site” for it.

Authors Have So Many Choices

Choices about what? Our books.


The novel is finished. Do I:


Query agents?

Query publishers? E-publishers or traditional? Small press print?

Self-pub? ebook only? POD or pay for a print run? Where?

Ask for review blurbs?

Enter contests?


Every choice deserves consideration. Each has its merits and drawbacks.

What should you expect from a developmental editor?

What should you expect from a developmental editor?


I’ve been looking for an editor to take on Bridgebuilders, so this article caught my interest. I’ve just hired someone – still in the contract stage – and I’m happy to say I think she meets the criteria Mr. Rinzler sets out here.
