Add Milk and Stir. The Art of Keeping Up

I feel like I need to make it up to you for my last cry-baby post. I don’t really expect all of life to smell like roses. What fun would that be?

Today, I have made waffles, cleaned the family room and guest bathroom (childbirth class tonight), and wrote a tweet. I really need to tweet more, like once a month or so. I can’t promise to ever figure out when I’m going to read anyone else’s tweets, but I’m working on it. Honestly, how is that even DONE?

I still need to do the breakfast dishes, toda...

Kobo? So Far, It’s a Major Fail for This Author

I hate it when I whine. But I’m seriously pissed off.

At Kobo.

Several people have recommended them as a distributor. They’ve got a hot new publishing tool, and independent authors should go NOW and upload their books. If you’re not selling on Kobo, you’re missing out on hundreds of sales!

So I read all about it and reviewed post from several authors who recommended it.

I spent a day figuring out how to format Shipbuilder for epub. I even spent $250 for ISBNs, so Shipbuilder would have its own nu...

A Post of Inconsequential Things

The days are full of catching up on the small parts of life.

Upon our return from vacation on Tuesday – say an hour or two – we heard the merry sound of water gurgling. Not having a fountain, this concerned us, so we went looking for the source. And found it in the garage, where our 30-year-old water heater was doing an excellent job of watering the junk we keep in there.

Relieved that this waited until we were home to start (we didn’t come home to several feet of water in our garage, and belie...

To Romance or Not To Romance: What is RWA Doing?

There has been a disturbing development over at Romance Writers of America. Before I get into it, let me talk about why this organization is important to me.

I write science fiction because I love the idea of space travel and civilizations on other planets. I grew up reading the writers of SF’s “golden age,” and Star Trek was the coolest show to ever hit TV when I was young.

I write fantasy because I love magic and fairy tales, and elves. I love the quest nature of fantasies, and I love the (us...

Hey, Don’t I Know You?

I have been absent for a while.

What? You didn’t notice?

I’ll pretend you did.

I’ve been absent because I’ve been on vacation. Not anything like the BIG, long Titanic Memorial Cruise vacation, but a vacation, nevertheless. I could have posted to the blog, but every time I started to do it, I just couldn’t wrap my mind around it. So I shrugged, and went on my way.

That way probably included an amusement or animal park. I have never been to so many amusement parks in so short a time. We’ve done the...
