This Looks Like Fun
I seem to be posting a lot of links lately. Blame it on the heat.
Thank you, Will Wheaton, for a good idea. Maybe I should ask for this for my birthday. (David Fortier are you paying attention? You’ll like this!)

3 Parent-tested Ways to Teach Responsibility | Pioneer Woman Homeschooling | Ree Drummond
For all the young parents on my list. Oh, and it has nothing to do with homeschooling. Just parenting.

The #AmWriting Report
My various novels-in-progress are all over the map these days. I should put microchips on them so I can track their movements and always find them when I need them.
Bridgebuilders is out to beta readers, may-the-universe-bless-them. Once I get their comments (and make the necessary edits), it will then go the editor.
Moon Over Donamorgh is with a potential editor. Depending on her desires (will she even want to work on it?), and her schedule, I’ll be getting that story ready for publishing.

darkmoontarot: STOP POISONING YOUR FAMILY, PETS…
This article has some good ideas for safer and better cleaning supplies. Everyone should avoid the cleaning supplies aisle in the grocery store – it’s full of poisons and endrocine disruptors. This is especially important for pregnant women and families with young children.
My own favorite cleaning device is this:http://www.ecloth.com/

The Author as Publisher, Author as Fraud | The Passive Voice
The Author as Publisher, Author as Fraud | The Passive Voice.
This is an interesting idea. I confess I’ve never thought about forming my own publishing company to put out my books. Several people point out that doing this makes taxes easier, but I’m not sure I see how. I’ve had businesses, incorporated and non, and the taxes don’t get easier either way.
I consider my writing a business, although if I really think about it, it’s the act of publishing and selling a book that brings in the money....

A Hodgepodge of Pictures
Consider this a catch-up post of Baycon and the eclipse. But first, a current photo.
Today’s harvest, the first of the season, consists of basil leaves and blueberries. These are the only things, besides lavender, that I can grow consistently. You can see why I also subscribe to a CSA. We’d starve, otherwise.
As for the eclipse, we have lots of pictures like this:
Here’s a cool picture, showing the shadows on our fence:
I love the mysterious darkness that falls over the earth during eclipses. It...

Weekend Report and a Cooking Post
This isn’t really acookingpost, because there’s no cooking involved. I do have a recipe for you, though. We’ll get to that in a minute.
Monday is here, which means we’ve made it through our weekend with two furry guests. I’m happy to report that Jekyll-and-Hyde adjusted to his unusual living arrangement, and stopped trying to kill his keepers. In general, we acted like a Hilton hotel, providing fancy meals, plenty of water, and twice-daily walks. Comfy furniture. And a backyard that a little d...

Six Tough Truths About Self-Publishing That The Advocates Never Seem To Talk About | LitReactor
Six Tough Truths About Self-Publishing That The Advocates Never Seem To Talk About | LitReactor.
All six of these truths boil down to the idea that patience is a good thing for the self-published author. We aren’t going to sell thousands of copies the first week. We may never sell even a thousand copies, ever.
So writers, put out a good, well-edited book, try to tell people about it, and then get on with your life. Write the next book. Don’t quit your day job.
Lastly, let me take this opportunit...
