Titanic Memorial Cruise: The Gist of It

There were lots of wonderful comments about yesterday’s post – thanks everybody. This comment by Amy Daily brings out the heart of the matter:

“That no matter what, opening your heart by thinking of someone other that yourself and allowing them to become a part of your conciousness is the important part. They are remembered and will live at least as long as we do. Does it matter if it’s through Jehovah, Samhain, or Yama as long as we do it for them?”

Exactly. More than anything else, this is wh...

Titanic Memorial Cruise: the Memorial Service

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern...

The link is to a five-minute BBC video of our memorial service at the Titanic Wreck Site. This took place about 2 a.m. out on deck.

Now I’m going to vent, and hold onto your hats, because I may very well offend you.

I loved being on this cruise. I was thrilled and honored to be there. But there was one problem that came very close to spoiling the whole thing. You can see and hear examples of it in the video, which is only five minutes of two...

The Weekly Report

It’s time to force a blog post – so easy to let it slide. But what to talk about?

Writing: I’m making progress on Bridgebuilders. It’s tempting to give in to writer’s block, but I’m trying to keep myself on a schedule. I’ve learned that I cannot sit for hours in front of the computer. This means that the time I am here, needs to count. So if I give myself an hour to write in the book, and after that I have to get up and do something else – well then, I have to spend that hour writing in the bo...

Back in the Kitchen Again

I loved my vacation. I evenloved having every morsel food prepared for me and set before me, and someone else doing all the dishes. I had a whole month of that, and really – what’s not to like, other than a dearth of organic, local food, whole grains, and vegetables? Even I can live on common food for a month if someone else is fixing it.

Nevertheless, I am quite happy to be back in my kitchen. Just to prove it, here’s what’s happened tonight:

Gorgonzola-Stuffed Chicken with Strawberry Gastriqu...

Happy Blog Awards

How much fun is this? I get to pick an award from Alica Mckenna-Johnson. I can pick either the Sunshine award or the Versatile Blogger Award. Now, I’m a nice enough person, and usually my friends don’t run screaming the other way when they see me, but I must be honest. I’m no Molly Sunshine.

So I choose the Versatile Blogger Award.

After all, I do have several things going on at once, and my blog reflects that. I’ve tried having separate blogs for things, but I just can’t compartmentalize my li...

Other Writers: Interview with Raymond Masters

Meet Raymond Masters, author of Forging Truth, a post-apocalyptictale about a man who has to discover who he is, and what he needs to do. Raymond is a new indie author, and he’s doing a blog tour to get the word out about his book. Give him a shout-out if you like the sound of it. Here’s a little about him.

MD: Welcome to my blog, Raymond. Tell us a little about yourself. How old are you? What do you do in real life? Married? Children?

RAYMOND MASTERS: Thanks so much for having me on here to he...

The Aftermath and Other Fun Things

We’ve been home for two full days. We are still getting caught up, which will take a while. The yard. Oy. Rick mowed the grass the day before we left. It grew about two feet while we were gone. Wait, did I say grass? There issomegrass out there, I’ll grant, but mostly it’s weeds and crabgrass. Anyway, they grew with merry abandon. Evidently we had lots of alternating rain and warm weather. That’s the kind of weed growth we can’t keep up with even when we are home, let alone being gone for a m...

#Titanic Memorial Cruise: Over and Out

You may be saying to yourself, “Whew! I”m glad that’s over with. Maybe now, she’ll talk about something else.”

Well okay, I will. But not yet. I sort of left you hanging back there, on the day we reached Titanic’s wreck site. I wanted to post, but Ack! No luck getting my old laptop to do anything by that point. Eventually, I just quit bothering to turn it on – I could get a connection, but nothing would post. I spent all my very expensive internet minutes watching that little dinosaur walk and...
