Here’s another excerpt from BRYCE, the first book in my Galactic Defenders series which released at the beginning of the summer.
Setup: Lalia and her daughter, Katrina, have left Earth and are on the Galactic Alliance’s carrier ship with the Defenders, including Bryce who saved her. Though she received strict orders no one can find out about their previous relationship, Lalia can’t help a late night visit to her former lover’s quarters. The first line is Bryce’s…
“Are you sure?”
She nodded, chewing her bottom lip.
“Good.” He untied her belt and let the robe fall open. “Because I want you.”
He slipped her robe from her shoulders and let it fall to her feet. “I always have. Always will.” Brushing his lips along her neck, he made her feel young again, like a rebellious princess falling in love for the first time. A spell she would willingly fall under time and time again with the man who had stolen her heart many years ago.
Lalia moaned his name. “Promise me you’ll be with me when we land on Hemera, help me through the first couple of days.” She couldn’t do it without him, had no will to return without him by her side.
Lifting her chin up, he stared into her eyes, his lustful gaze leaving her weak in the knees. “I promise.” His mouth crashed down on hers, sweeping her away to a world where no one but the two of them existed. He grasped her hips and drew her closer, his hands sliding around to the globes of her ass.
In a swift motion, he lifted her up. She wrapped her legs around his waist, his erection evident through the thin layers of clothing between them. Lying her on his narrow bed, he kneeled between her thighs and cupped her cheek. “I will do everything I can to be by your side for as long as possible.”

Halloween and Horror Movies (Or what to watch on Halloween)
Horror movies are a favorite for many people, and Halloween is always a ripe time to watch them. Top ten things that rile Alisha into action
10) Not retreating when there is no hope of winning. The first day as a captain, Alisha challenges the general because his stupid plan is going to get everyone killed.
9) Generals who berate her when she says she has specialized flying skills, assuming a woman can’t fly. Thankfully MAC and her colonel insisted she could fly into the wind, even though everyone believes that to be impossible.
8) Colonel Logan, who makes love to her one night then declares it a mistake that won’t happen again.
7)Stupid regs that are used to punish a Ryder after the fact when all they did was obey orders. Yes, Ollie tried to kill her, but he was only following the orders of a demented captain. So the fault was Colonel Logan’s for allowing a demented captain to lead his squad. (She is so pissed about this reg, she refuses to go on her next mission until MAC removes this reg forever!)
6) The way everyone assumes Alisha is sleeping around. She was a 21-year-old virgin until she and Logan got it on one time. But rumor has it she and Colonel Sparks are lovers and no one will believe her when she tells them that’s not true!
5) Alisha is really angry at her parents. First and foremost because they abandoned her gramps and when she found him living in a dangerous apartment in Capital, he was almost dead.
4) Alisha’s also angry at her parents because they planned to drug her so when she woke up she’d be the new wife of the President of the Americas. Sounds like a great marriage for a debutante, but the guy made her skin crawl every time he’d stop by to enjoy her mother, so Alisha climbed out a window and ran away instead.
3) When Alisha discovers signs on two showers declaring them the private use of the former captain and his lieutenant, leaving the rest of the squad to use the third stall that has no door, she loses it!
2) Alisha hates that she can’t visit her gramps. Colonel Logan has moved him to Broadtown and assures her that her grandfather is fine, but she won’t stop worrying until she can see for herself. So many people have lied to her: Her parents, Colonel Logan…
1) The person Alisha hates the most is the SkyRyder who killed her best friend, when she lived on the streets of Capital. He beat Betty to death because she refused to ‘service’ him if he wouldn’t pay. Needless to say, Alisha is not happy when she discovers he is her new captain. When he nearly kills her the first day she flies with the squad, finally Colonel Logan realizes he has a demented captain. But until MAC reassesses DC there is little Logan can do, and since the General likes DC, matters look very dangerous.
SCAVENGER’S MISSION

Meet Logan: A SkyRyder colonel in charge of a sleepy fort with little to do other than arrest the occasional scavenger.
For the first time in his life, Logan’s attracted to a young woman, only she’s probably a scavenger and he’ll have to arrest her. But first he offers her a shower and food while he checks on his crew. His videographer has captured her extraordinary flight through the Cully and her flying is astounding!
He forgoes arresting her and puts his career at risk by asking MAC to assess her skills and integrity as a potential SkyRyder. If he can get Alisha into the SkyRyders, it will be his greatest contribution to the Corps.
Meet MAC: The Artificial Intelligence that runs the SkyRyders Corps.
Upon seeing her arrival, MAC upgrades Alisha’s test. Her flying skills are not just excellent; they exceed what was previously thought possible. MAC classifies her as its top asset and soon she proves her value.
But…the SkyRyders remain a male dominated Corps where Alisha’s sense of right and wrong often clashes with her superiors. How long can a rebellious young woman survive in a regimented Corps?
“If the men can learn this drop, it’s a much better attack plan,” Sparkes said.
“That’s a big if, and if they can’t, then we’ve let half the drugs fly off pissing the morning away.”
Ensuring her voice remained respectful, she replied, “No, sir. You’ll lose no more than ten percent, and it’s just black market medicine. The dangerous drugs will still be there.”
“We could send a squad out to pick up the morning dealers after they buy,” Sparkes offered.
Her friend Denny would be buying in the morning, and if she didn’t do something, he’d probably die out there. She had clearly heard the general give clearance to kill anyone involved. He didn’t want arrests; he wanted eliminations.
“You go anywhere near one of the morning dealers and we’ve lost the advantage of surprise. The little dealers are used to test the lanes and make sure everything is okay. All it would take is one squeak, and these guys would be ready for World War Four.”
“So you’re saying we should just let these criminals fly out of there with their newly purchased drugs?” Powell asked in outrage. “You seem to have an odd idea about what the Corps stands for!”
Matching his outrage, she volleyed back. “I’m focused on getting ten thousand kilos of Phantasia off the market. And the Ryders we’ll save in a surprise attack. If letting a black market dealer selling arthritis medicine slip through is the price we have to pay to succeed, I think it’s a damn low cost.”
Everyone fell utterly silent. She might be the first captain ever to have yelled at a general. It would probably cost her big time, but to save Denny, she had to try.

He grasped her hands before she could withdraw them, trapping them against his heat. His eyes glittered in the growing darkness.
“Sometimes thinking is overrated. I like to do and deal with the consequences later.” He lowered his head toward her.
No way. He wouldn’t. He had as much disdain for her as she had for him. She glared at him, refusing to call his bluff and pull away.
His lips pressed against hers, hard and demanding. He plunged his tongue into her mouth. She gasped as fire raced through her veins. Clenching her fingers around the fabric of his T-shirt, she met the demands of his mouth.
She refused to be intimidated just because he was sexier than sin and could kiss a hell of a lot better than anyone in recent memory or, um, in ever. Oh God, she couldn’t remember anyone else. She couldn’t even remember her own name.
A moan tore from her throat. She bit down on his lip then thrust her tongue, tangling it with his.
He bracketed her ribs, sliding beneath her jacket and the hem of her shirt then over her waist and up, cupping her breast.
Holy hell. Who knew being groped could feel so good? With one touch, she nearly believed she could leave behind stress and responsibility and reclaim her femininity. “Fondle me, you bastard, and make it good.”

#8Sunday: Jumping through the portal ~ Excerpt from COSMIC SUTRA #scifirom #lesfic #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Hello! I’m going to start sharing excerpts for COSMIC SUTRA, which releases November 7th. It’s a lesbian sci-fi new adult romance that takes place on another planet. In fact, it takes place at Thanh Academy, a university for beings across the universe. Victoria is the first student from Earth to be offered a scholarship there.
Set-up: This snippet is from the beginning of the second scene of the first chapter, when Victoria is leaving for Thanh.
The multi-colored mass swirled in front of Victoria, churning and spinning, ready to suck her in and spit her out in another galaxy. She’d already stepped through one portal to meet up with the other new students from the Milky Way, a greater variety of non-humanoid creatures than she’d ever imagined. And those were the few types of extraterrestrials allowed to attend Thanh Academy. Many others would eat all the undergraduates if permitted to visit the school.
While in the space station, she had to take one last march into another gateway before landing on campus, ready to complete her fourth year of university studies with creatures from all over the galaxy. Since Earth—along with many other planets—couldn’t afford to build a portal all the way to the space academy, they used the station as a stopover. One-by-one, the individuals in front of her disappeared, on the platform one second, and gone the next. Their bodies seemed to stretch and bend before they vanished, like some sort of cartoon from Earth’s ancient past. The being in front of her jumped into the circular bulk, fading away much faster than those ahead of him.
Victoria treaded forward.
COSMIC SUTRA
When Victoria is offered a scholarship to attend Thanh Academy for her last year of university, she jumps at the opportunity. Nothing could be more practical in her psychology studies than to travel to the other side of the universe and live amongst the life forms she strives to learn from.
Upon her arrival, she is met with hostility. Convincing the other students she is not like those from Earth who came before her takes time, but eventually she is embraced by a small group of friends, including a sexy female alien she fantasizes about on a daily basis.
Based on past experience, will Victoria keep her lust hidden deep inside to prevent losing a friend? Or will she confess her feelings to Kaye and possibly find her one true love?

Today I’m returning to BRYCE, the first book in my Galactic Defenders series which released at the beginning of the summer.
Setup: Lindsay/Lalia’s house has just been attacked by a swarm of Erebus, and a Galactic Defender arrived in time to save her and her daughter. Though, her ex-husband was killed in the battle, and her daughter had to kill one of the ugly creatures. Now, the Defender has questions for her.
The Kalaren slammed Katrina’s knife on the table. “Where did you get a zuranium blade?”
“It is an heirloom belonging to my family for generations.” Turning her back to him, she pulled her hair aside, exposing the back of her neck. “I’m the only Hemera to survive the Erebus attack.”
Her daughter gasped beside her. “What the hell does that mean? Mom, you said those spots were just a bunch of birthmarks we shared. What’s going on?”
“Give me a minute, and I’ll explain everything.” The truth wouldn’t be easy for her daughter to hear. Not after growing up believing she belonged on the planet.
“Impossible.” The Defender moved behind Lindsay and ran his fingers along the back of her neck, over her people’s markings, a bold move for a stranger, especially one not from Earth. His touch sent a thrill through her body, one she hadn’t experienced for a long time. Not since Quinn had last made love to her, a year before he’d presented her with divorce papers. Though her ex-husband—visiting to celebrate Katrina’s eighteenth birthday and now dead on the deck outside the patio window—had never been able to penetrate the part of her heart belonging to a man from her past, and from the same planet as the Kalaren touching her.
“You are a Comosova. You’re royalty.” The Kalaren moved in front of her and bent down on one knee with a quick bow of his head. “Lalia, I am very sorry I failed to save your partner. I should have been there to defend him, and I failed.”
Comosova? Lalia? How did he know her former identity? Lindsay hooked a finger under the Kalaren’s chin and lifted until his gaze met hers. She stared into his eyes, looking for something familiar. A long time ago, she’d fallen in love with a Kalaren Defender, but her parents had convinced her she provided a diversion for him, believed Kalarens stole the innocence of women all over the universe before moving on to the next pretty face. Had the man she’d given her virginity to, the one who’d stolen her heart, found her again on this planet?

#8Sunday: Leave while you can ~ Excerpt from BEYOND REACH #scifirom #romance
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Canadians! Today I’m sharing another snippet from BEYOND REACH, which released on Monday. It’s had a great ride so far on the All Romance Bestseller list. As I mentioned, I will not share the more sensual snippets for Weekend Writing Warriors, so I’ve skipped the beginning where Mekai and Nixie are getting to know each other.
Set-up: In last week’s snippet, Nixie found out the woman who raised her had been killed. Mekai has offered to take her away from the planet, but she needs a little convincing from the man who helped raise her, whether or not it’s what she wants to hear.
Garesh clasped her shoulders. “I am not your father, and with Cyresse gone, we are no longer family.”
Nixie stopped breathing, shocked by the man’s words. “What are you talking about? How can you say that?”
“Nixie, you walked out on a client. Therefore, you probably do not have a job to go back to. And with Cyresse gone, you no longer have a home.” He spun her around to face the door. “Leave; get off the planet while you have the opportunity.”
