#8Sunday: The kissing booth ~ Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #IRMC

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I took the last two weeks off as I was busy with family things, but I’m back to share another excerpt with you from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. This is a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse. It has come back from my editor already. I will be formatting it and uploading it for pre-order this week.

Set-up: This excerpt continues after the last one, still at the beginning of the story.

Kids ran from games to rides to carts selling cotton candy and candy apples, spending their parents’ money like it would never run out. But the longest line was for a booth at the very end of the park. Males of all ages, from kindergarteners to seniors who needed a walker to travel ten feet, lined up in front of a hand-painted sign reading $5 for a kiss, and beside the words, a pair of bright red lips.

RJ bypassed the line to see who was so in demand with the male population. Sidney Flowers, former captain of the cheerleading squad and all-around bitch. The disgusted look she gave the crowd after she’d kissed various men on the cheek proved she hadn’t changed. Yet, no one in line seemed deterred. Only him.

No way did he crave the touch of the girl who’d falsely accused him of killing his own mother and sending his father to the psych ward. All because RJ had caught Sidney helping her boyfriend cheat on a test.

IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

It started with a kiss.

Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.

Available soon.

2016 in Review ~ Coming in 2017 ~ Reader Contest! #reading #giveaway

Hello readers! Well, 2016 is over and 2017 is here. I wish you all the very best this year! I have skipped last weekend’s and today’s Weekend Writing Warriors posts, as I have been busy celebrating the holidays. I will return next weekend with a new excerpt from It Took A Zombie Apocalypse.

2016 IN REVIEW

2016 was filled with some personal highs and lows for me. I completed the 22-Day Push Up Challenge to bring awareness to PTSD and  the high suicide rates of the men and women who serve our countries, finishing off with a donation to Wounded Warriors Canada. I also completed a 90-Day Fitness and Healthy Eating Challenge where I lost 27lbs, went down two pant sizes, and learned to love vegetables. (Or most of them, anyway.) The challenge ended with a photo shoot. I also participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time. While I didn’t hit the 50k word target, I managed 40,284 words, which is a personal best for me.

But, on the day of my fitness photo shoot, I came home to find out my grandmother had passed away. And at the end of December, one of the retailers I used to sell my books informed me that they were closing and weren’t going to pay me my contractually-obligated royalties. And that doesn’t include the ups and downs in the world around me.

Please Note: On December 29, I removed all of my books files from All Romance eBooks so the owner would not have access to them when the site went down. If you purchased one of my titles from the retailer, but did not get a chance to download it, please email me at jess @ jessicasubject.com.

COMING IN 2017

All-in-all, I’m glad 2016 is over, and I’m looking forward to what 2017 has in store. This year, my country will celebrate its 150th birthday. In fact, the celebrations started last night.

At the beginning of 2016, I’d planned to release Made For Her, Beyond Reach, Bryce, and have Jager written. Well, I managed to accomplish that and a little bit more. During NaNoWriMo, I finished writing It Took A Zombie Apocalypse, and wrote most of Jager.

So, here’s what I plan to release in 2017:

It Took A Zombie Apocalypse

Galactic Defenders: JAGER

Secret Multi-Author project

Always Her Wingman

Galactic Defenders: JACE

They may not release in that order, but those are the stories I will be focusing on, with the first two stories now in edits.

I also plan to read more. I know I say that every year, but I didn’t read near enough in 2016. What’s on my immediate to-read list?

#8Sunday: Home for the summer ~ Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #newadult

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Hello! I’m ready to start sharing excerpt from my NaNoWriMo stories. The first I’m sharing from is IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. This is a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse.

Since this story is only self-edited at this point, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Set-up: This is the beginning of the story when you meet the hero of the story.

RJ strolled through the booths at the fun fair. Another gathering where people either glared at him or pretended he didn’t exist. Growing up in West Vitula, one would think he’d be used to it. But a lifetime of not being welcome in the small town never came easy. Why couldn’t his father have secured a position at a hospital in Ostrander, only an hour away?

Women stood behind rows of wooden tables, selling pies, bread, and jams to other women. Some men gathered in various groups, drinking beer from plastic glasses and telling recycled stories from their youth, or checking out the college girls who had returned for the summer. Just as RJ had come to do. Yet, he hadn’t seen anyone worth his time. If not for the anniversary of his mother’s death, he would have stayed away from this town, insisted his father take some time off to visit him.

IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

It started with a kiss.

Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But, zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.

Available in early 2017.

#8Sunday: Nothing but snow ~ Excerpt from SEXY SUITORS FROM SPACE #alien #menage

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Hello! I had intended to share an excerpt from one of my NaNoWriMo stories this weekend, but I received some sad news last weekend, and had to travel away from home to attend my grandmother’s visitations and funeral. So, I did not have a chance to review those stories before sharing them.

Since I seemed to bring the snow back with me from Northern Ontario, I thought I’d share an excerpt from SEXY SUITORS FROM SPACE, where my heroine is expressing her thoughts on the white stuff.

Set-up: Heather has been sent to Lapland (in Finland) for a vacation where her grandmother holds time share. Only, it’s not the vacation setting she’s used to.

Some vacation. Nothing but snow for miles. I might as well have been visiting the North Pole with all the layers of clothing I had on. And, somehow, the cold wind still managed to find the small amount of face I didn’t have covered, stinging the skin around my eyes.

“Are we almost there?” I could barely see five feet in front of me, only the mountain of a man directly ahead. If he slowed down for one second, I’d grab his coat with one hand and cover the rest of my face with my free arm. But if I didn’t keep up, I’d get lost in the blizzard. “Seriously, is the place I’m staying anywhere nearby?” Every other hotel I’d stayed at had the check-in desk within the building, but apparently not this one.

SEXY SUITORS FROM SPACE

A vacation to the far North…

Heather is gifted a week away at a resort in the Arctic Circle by her grandmother, a chance to finally move on after finding her fiancé in bed with another woman.

With two Nordic hunks to keep her company…

The two sexy studs make it easy to get over her failed relationship. That is, until they tell her their secret.

Are the two men really extraterrestrials or just a fantasy created by her lonely soul?

Caution: Includes alien probing, anal sex, and a hot MFM ménage.

Available from:

Buy from All Romance eBooks Buy from Amazon / Kindle Buy from Barnes & Noble / Nook Buy from Google Play Buy from iBooks Buy from Kobo

AMAZON US | UK | Canada

Story is also part of COSMIC DESIRES anthology.
