#8Sunday: Zombie Family ~ Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #scifi #sfr
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you for coming to visit me! Here’s another excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse…
Set-up: Last week RJ finally got his kiss, but they were interrupted by Missy’s mom. The zombies arrive shortly after, and Missy and RJ make a run for it. RJ receives a text from his father (a doctor) saying that a virus has been released in the hospital turning people into zombies and that he should go to the underground bunker in their backyard. Missy is ready to go with him until her dad arrives.
“Dad, you have got to come with us. There is a viral outbreak at the hospital, and it’s spreading through town.”
No way did he want to be in a confined space with that man. But, if it meant getting Missy to safety, he’d suck up his pride.
“I know.” Missy’s father lunged forward and grabbed her hand, yanking her away from RJ. “Your mother and brother are sick. We need to get them to the hospital.”
RJ heard moaning before two figures appeared around the corner. The rest of Missy’s family had been infected all right, their faces gaunt and bodies twitching as they sauntered closer and closer.
IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
It started with a kiss.
Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.

#8Sunday: Caught! Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #scifi #IRMC
Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!
Thank you for coming to visit me! IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE released on Monday. It is a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse. Here’s another excerpt…
Set-up: Last week Missy gave RJ his kiss, but it wasn’t at all what he’d hoped for or expected. Though when she’s done volunteering at the kissing booth, she finds RJ to give him what he expected.
What started as a gentle, sweet ballet of a kiss quickly turned into a frantic lambada. Missy clung to him, desperate for more. She straddled his lap, pushing against him. Why had she waited so long to act on her feelings for him? She’d had plenty of opportunities to be alone with him. Yet, what her parents thought had always seemed to matter. Not anymore.
When he slid his hands under her shirt, she moaned, anxious to feel them all over her body.
“Get your hands off my daughter!”
Missy pushed off RJ and turned to face her mother.

#NewRelease ~ It Took a Zombie Apocalypse (to get them together) #romance #scifirom
Hello! I’m excited to announce that It Took a Zombie Apocalypse is now available. This story is a romance that takes place in a small town between an interracial couple during a zombie apocalypse. Not an ideal time to fall for someone, but love doesn’t seem to care.

IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE
It started with a kiss.
Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.

“You wanna get out of here?” RJ jerked his thumb over his shoulder, anxious to be long gone before Missy’s father arrived. He’d had enough run-ins with the man over the years, for things like taking the garbage out too early, not cutting the grass often enough, and for parking on the road. Simple things, teaching him to avoid the man at all costs. How would he react when he found out RJ had kissed his daughter?
“Yes.” Missy grabbed his hand and pulled him toward the park entrance, their houses only two blocks from there.
They raced across the grass when a roar erupted from the crowd. Missy paused, jerking him to a halt. Had her father reacted that poorly? Then came the screams. People scattered, racing in every direction around them, while others fell to the ground, trampled by those fleeing the park.
RJ focused on their destination and ran faster, not letting go of Missy. His phone vibrated in his pocket, but he refused to stop. Not when he feared the worst. Someone had a gun.
He raced up the steps to his front porch where he finally paused to catch his breath and fish for his key in his shorts. They were probably the only ones who locked their house in the entire town, but previous encounters proved it necessary.
With a shaky hand, he slid the key into the lock. He was already pushing on the door when the lock clicked open. Missy rushed inside without any hesitation. After slamming the door shut again, he locked it then dared a peek outside. No one. They were safe. At least for now.
Missy touched his arm. “What do you think happened?”
He turned from the window and noticed the fear in her eyes. “I don’t know. But it’s best we stay here until everything is settled.”
His phone vibrated again, reminding him he had a message. No one in West Vitula had his number except his father. And all his friends back at Fielding University knew he wasn’t around for the summer.
He pulled out his cell and saw the text from his dad. Had those injured in the park arrived at the hospital? Did he know what had triggered the stampede?
RJ pressed on the text and read….
Contagion arrived from Ostrander.
Spread through the hospital.
Stay in bunker.
I’m infected.
Zombies
Zombies? He dropped his phone and stared at it on the floor, expecting it to explode. Zombies didn’t exist. He was in some kind of dream. Had to be. Missy actually had come home for the summer. And kissed him. Now, zombies.
Will RJ & Missy have a chance to be together when the zombies come? #newrelease #romance…

The creation of Goudrogen Crystals in PASSAGES by @LaurelWanrow #scifi #romance #giveaway
Goudrogen Crystals
When readers first meet Eve, the empathic cyborg heroine of Passages, she is wearing a crystal ring. It’s not just any crystal, or even a familiar one.
I did consider using quartz, scientifically known as silicon and the second most common mineral on earth. (Feldspar is the most common.) It is abundant on other rocky planets we’ve explored, so it makes sense for it to be found on another planet.
But, it was quartz, a mineral everyone knows, which would make it meh in my story.
Goudrogen is anything but meh.
Yet I had to base the tory crystal on something familiar, so I considered its properties. Goudrogen, or ‘goud’ as Passages’ characters refer to it, is a non-metal element. Only 18 of the elements on our Periodic Table of Elements are non-metals, but they make up most of earth’s crust, atmosphere and oceans, and are even found in the tissues of living organisms. Goudrogen had to be a non-metal, because it is everywhere on Aarde, and even has its own cyclic system.
I decided goud crystals would be in the hexagonal crystal family, like quartz and its other forms, such as amethyst. They form six-sided prisms, with six-sided pyramidal ends.
In my world, they are all doubly-terminated crystals, which if I told you why, would be a spoiler.
