Only 99¢ USD March 17-21, 2017

AMAZON US | UK | Canada | Germany | Australia | Japan

Jared shucked his towel and stroked his rigid cock. That woman made him hard every time she came to the door, trying to persuade him to sign up for the Space Service. Her claims had seemed far-fetched when she’d first approached him, yet his commander had confirmed her credentials, having been approached to join by another many years ago. While Jared would never add his thumbprint to the contract he’d read, he wouldn’t mind if she stopped by to try and convince him again.

Ms. Brown, with her black blazer revealing a hint of cleavage and a skirt that showed the perfect curvature of her ass. When he’d answered the door fresh out of the shower and seen her on his porch, he’d gripped the door handle to hold himself back from yanking her inside and tearing off her fine-pressed suit.

He squeezed his balls; no time to jack-off. Dylan and Madison would arrive in an hour, and he had to take one last run through his house to get rid of any lingering dust bunnies before Children’s Services appeared. No obvious dirt in the living room, he headed toward the kitchen, but his mind kept flying back to Ms. Brown.

She had the whole librarian thing going on, with her dark hair tied up in a bun and glasses resting on the end of her nose. Though, none of the women who worked at the local branch made his cock throb. Perhaps there was some truth to the naughty librarian tale. He wished.

Most women’s version of naughty did not come close to his. While the whole BDSM club scene didn’t appeal to him, he enjoyed a little bondage during foreplay. He’d spent months at a time deployed in the Middle East. While home, he appreciated the opportunity to date the pretty women who found a guy in uniform sexy. But once he fetched the cuffs, they bolted. They hadn’t even wanted to use them on him.

Ms. Brown was no girl, though. No more than a couple years his senior, she exuded experience with her seductive glances, her posture that plunged her cleavage into his line of sight, and that damn wiggle of her ass as she sashayed back to her car. She could teach him a thing or two. He yearned for the chance to find out.

No, his next lay could no longer be at the forefront of his mind. In less than an hour, he would become the father-figure to two impressionable young children. His sexual urges would have to take leave for the foreseeable future.

He’d been in his last month of deployment to Afghanistan when the call came in. And it took another day for his commander to reach him with the news. His brother-in-law had been killed in a car accident, leaving his niece and nephew orphans. And as much as he loved the Marine Corps—Semper Fi—he couldn’t let the kids be raised by strangers. They had no other family left.

So, after he returned to the States, he contacted his lawyer and spent a couple of weeks obtaining guardianship of the children. He’d received his discharge papers, found a civilian position working as a desk jockey for the CIA through his contacts with the Marines, and bought a house suitable to raise two growing youngsters. After months of preparation, they were coming to live with him.

He glanced at his watch. Ten minutes until they arrived.

Shit! He’d wasted precious time thinking about Ms. Brown and his new life.

Grabbing a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, he yanked them on. Screw the boxers; his niece and nephew wouldn’t notice. He peeked into their rooms to ensure they looked somewhat presentable. Would Children’s Services take them back to California if his new living space didn’t meet their standards?

He groaned. They weren’t even at his house yet, and he’d been distracted. No more. Nothing would come before them. The children would be his priority. Everything he did would be for them, for the rest of his life.

#MidWeekTease: He knew her former identity in BRYCE #scifi #romance #GalacticDefenders #MWTease

Get teased, titillated, and tantalized with this week's Mid Week Tease

Happy Wednesday! It’s been a while since I participated in Mid Week Tease, but I’m back. I’ve missed you all! Today, I’m sharing an excerpt from BRYCE, which is the first book in my Galactic Defenders series. The second book, JAGER, releases March 27.

Setup: Lindsay (or Lalia) has just been rescued from the grotesque Erebus creatures by a Galactic Defender. Now, he’s questioning her about what she knows…

Lindsay shivered as the Kalaren Galactic Defender eyed her, his brow ridge prominent in his look of disdain. Glancing away from his stare, she pressed her temples. She never should have escaped to this planet. Her fate was to die like everyone else back home, not to pretend to be a Terran, to have a life when none of her kind survived the Erebus attacks on Hemera. They had to have followed her to Earth somehow, and now they would destroy those she knew, and eventually all of Earth.

The Kalaren slammed Katrina’s knife on the table. “Where did you get a zuranium blade?”

“It is an heirloom belonging to my family for generations.” Turning her back to him, she pulled her hair aside, exposing the back of her neck. “I’m the only Hemera to survive the Erebus attack.”

Her daughter gasped beside her. “What the hell does that mean? Mom, you said those spots were just a bunch of birthmarks we shared. What’s going on?”

“Give me a minute, and I’ll explain everything.” The truth wouldn’t be easy for her daughter to hear. Not after growing up believing she belonged on the planet.

“Impossible.” The Defender moved behind Lindsay and ran his fingers along the back of her neck, over her people’s markings, a bold move for a stranger, especially one not from Earth. His touch sent a thrill through her body, one she hadn’t experienced for a long time. Not since Quinn had last made love to her, a year before he’d presented her with divorce papers. Though her ex-husband—visiting to celebrate Katrina’s eighteenth birthday and now dead on the deck outside the patio window—had never been able to penetrate the part of her heart belonging to a man from her past, and from the same planet as the Kalaren touching her.

“You are a Comosova. You’re royalty.” The Kalaren moved in front of her and bent down on one knee with a quick bow of his head. “Lalia, I am very sorry I failed to save your partner. I should have been there to defend him, and I failed.”

Comosova? Lalia? How did he know her former identity? Lindsay hooked a finger under the Kalaren’s chin and lifted until his gaze met hers. She stared into his eyes, looking for something familiar. A long time ago, she’d fallen in love with a Kalaren Defender, but her parents had convinced her she provided a diversion for him, believed Kalarens stole the innocence of women all over the universe before moving on to the next pretty face. Had the man she’d given her virginity to, the one who’d stolen her heart, found her again on this planet?

BRYCE: Galactic Defenders book one

A dedicated Defender…

Bryce fell in love once, but after Lalia was ripped away from him, he locked his heart from feeling anything for anyone else. Instead, he devotes his life to the Galactic Alliance, killing every bloodthirsty Erebus he comes across.

A shunned princess…

Lalia Comosova fell in love with the wrong man. When her parents learned of her transgressions, they sent her to Earth to hide her error in judgment from the rest of the kingdom.

A second chance?

When these lovers are reunited after many years apart, they have a chance to find happiness together. But fate steps in and threatens to rip them apart as it did years ago.

#8Sunday: Fraternizing with the competition in JAGER #GalacticDefenders #scifirom #scifi #romance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

JAGER is the second book of my sci-fi adventure romance series, Galactic Defenders, releases March 27. This is the second excerpt I’m sharing. You can find the first one here.

Set-up: Last week you learned training for Jager’s squad wasn’t going so well. Though Katrina definitely proved her skills. Well, the simulation is now finished, and Katrina killed all but one of the Erebus. Jager downed the other. Now, he’s trying to meet up with his squad after… (edited to fit)

Jager spotted Katrina leaning against the fence surrounding the forest, chatting with Jace, a Mingot, and a seventh-year Defender like him; his competition. They both had new squads and had to prove to the Alliance they were ready to go on missions. The new Zulu squad had already aided Echo on a humanitarian mission in the Tuey system. Probably because Katrina shared information about the drills with Jace so his team would perform better. Each drill was supposed to be different, but Jager couldn’t be sure. Katrina would do anything for the Defender who had helped saved her father when the Alliance had turned their back on him. How he wished he’d been sent instead.

No, he didn’t like Katrina. He didn’t like her fraternizing with Jace, the only Mingot he knew with hair. And he definitely didn’t like what the guy did with Katrina behind closed doors.

JAGER: Galactic Defenders Book Two

Jager’s new squad of Defenders has completed training, but the spoiled princess who has grated on his nerves since her first day of training is called back to Hemera for a yearly celebration. When Princess Katrina doesn’t show up, Jager must drag her home, where he wishes she would stay.

Katrina is a Defender, not a Princess. And there is no way she wants to return to a planet she hates for some stupid ceremony. Not when she could be out killing Erebus with her squad.

But when a new enemy threatens both their lives, they must work together to survive.

Interrogated by the Defender in BRYCE #MFRWHooks #GalacticDefenders #MFRWAuthor #sfr #romance

Happy Wednesday! Today is my first time participating in the MFRW Book Hooks. Jager, the second book in my Galactic Defenders series releases on March 27. But for those who haven’t ready BRYCE, the first book, I’ve decided to tease you a bit from that book as well. Enjoy!

Setup: Lindsay was outside cleaning up after her daughter’s  (Katrina) birthday party when an alien tried to attack her. Another alien arrived to kill it, but is now questioning her in her kitchen…

Lindsay shivered as the Kalaren Galactic Defender eyed her, his brow ridge prominent in his look of disdain. Glancing away from his stare, she pressed her temples. She never should have escaped to this planet. #8Sunday: Training in the Kalaren forests in JAGER (Galactic Defenders) #sfr #scifi #romance

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

All of my promotion is now finished for It Took a Zombie Apocalypse. Now, I am focusing on the upcoming release of JAGER. I have finished edits, and now have to format it for print and ebook. JAGER is the second book of the Galactic Defenders, a sci-fi adventure romance series.

Set-up: For those of you who read Bryce, (spoiler alert if you haven’t) you know that Katrina joined the Galactic Defenders so Bryce could retire. She is in Jager’s squad, but training isn’t going so well… (edited to fit)

As he weaved his way through the massive prickly trees whose canopy blocked out most of Kalara’s orange sun, Jager listened for his team. Erebus, with their lumbering bulky bodies, moved through the area with more grace. Dhranash squeaked with every step, and Aram sounded like a herd of rehn stampeding through the area. Jager covered his face with his hand. How many times would they have to run this drill before these lightweights learned how to cover the area properly?

A twig snapped behind him. Jager twisted around and raised his plazer, ready to shoot. Instead of their enemy ready to attack, he found Katrina, who had already downed the Erebus with just her blade.

She gave him a weak smile. “Sorry, it snapped the branch when it fell.”

Zombie Therapy ~ It worked for me! #writingtherapy #zombies

Today is the last day of my promo for It Took a Zombie Apocalypse, which released January 30.

Earlier this week, I was a guest on Jenna Jaxon’s blog where she interviewed me about the story and other fun stuff.

Today, I’m visiting Multiuniverses of Liza O’Connor where I’m talking about how writing about zombies was therapy for me. Visit the post to find out how, and to read Liza’s review (spoiler alert).

Tomorrow, I start sharing snippets from Jager (Galactic Defenders #2), which releases March 27, 2017.

“I had a feeling I’d see you again,” the voice called.

Dina looked around the wooded area, feeling confused for a moment. It seemed familiar. Across the marsh, Liam was leaning against a tree, casually dressed, hair slightly less shaggy than it had been last time, hands shoved in his skinny jeans. A light mist lingered over the grass, a taste of salt in the air. How did she get here?

“What?”

“Didn’t think it would be this soon,” he replied with a shrug.

The Gut surrounded her. She didn’t remember coming here, yet she was in the Bay Hook. Solid ground beneath her feet and the stench she breathed in, all real. “Why, uh . . . did you come back?”

“The real question is why did you call me here?”

“What are you talking about? You were already here, and I didn’t call. I don’t even have your number.”

“Want it?” he asked, smirking, then shook his head. “No, wait . . . oh. Uninhibited speech, foggy backdrop, extra flirty. I get it.”

“Get what?”

“We’re dreaming. You’re asleep right?”

“No,” she spat, spreading her arms, twisting in place. She pulled a cattail-punk out of the ground and shook it at him. “We’re in the Hook, hello, don’t you see the trees? Can’t you smell the marsh?”

“You must have been thinking about me, which is normal, frankly, given the circumstances. But how the hell are you keeping me here?”

“I’m not doing anything.”

“Dina, did both your parents have psionic abilities?”

“Only my father, why?”

“Curious,” he said, moving toward her, gray eyes sweeping up and down. “What about his parents, either of them?”

“I don’t know. What does it matter?”

“People don’t normally share dreams. You’re strong—”

“Why does everyone keep saying that?” Dina threw her hands up in the air and walked away. “Who cares if I am or not? There’s some dude out there burning up people, and I don’t have time to tramp around the swamp with E.T.”

“What did you say?”

“Nothing. Doesn’t matter. I’m outta here.”

“Wait, Dina,” he said, catching up and surpassing her. He grabbed both her arms to stop her. “You really are dreaming.”

Everything around her was too real to be a dream. She felt the pressure of his fingers, even the sinking feeling of her feet on the soft ground. “So this isn’t the Gut, it’s a dream? Right, and you’re sharing it with me, sure.”

“You’re amazing!” He laughed boyishly. “Even after all you’ve seen, you’re still questioning everything.”

“Then prove it to me. Call me, here’s my number,” she said, mentally sending the digits to his head.

Liam smiled at her. A sweet, sincere smile that made her smile back before shrugging.

“Dina—”

Her eyes popped open. The ceiling of her bedroom stared back. “Oh, what the hell?”

Dina sat up, brow furrowed. She reached toward the nightstand for her phone. Was it going to ring? It had felt as if she had been there, standing in the grass with Liam. She shut her eyes, trying to bring the images back, but they were already fading.

Had she just shared a dream with Liam?

#8Sunday: Missy the Archer ~ Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #scifi #zombies

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you for coming to visit me! Here’s one last excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse. I’ve received edits back for JAGER, the second book in my Galactic Defenders series, and hope to start sharing excerpts from that next weekend.

Set-up: Last week you were grossed out by the description of Missy’s dad as a zombie. Well, her and RJ have had to leave the bunker to get food and other supplies. RJ has killed the majority of the zombies, but on the way back from the bunker, Missy proves she isn’t helpless.

RJ rushed down the stairs and set the food on the cot. Just as he reached for the last box, snarling came from the area they’d heard the bushes rustle. A cat lunged out and raced toward them. Not just any cat, but a giant white house cat with its fur knotted with blood and half of its face missing.

He sucked in a breath, stunned by the sight. Animals had been affected by the virus as well. Yet the cat didn’t reach them. It thumped to the ground five feet away, an arrow embedded in its skull.

Missy stepped over to the animal, planted a foot on its body, and pulled the arrow out. Definitely not her first time using that weapon.

IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

It started with a kiss.

Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.

Good morning readers!

Thanks for having me crash your world today and celebrate my new release, Guarding His Anchor. I had so much fun writing this story. Frank really cracked open my heart and left me breathless.

I hope you enjoy him – and his lady, Charlie – as much as I did writing their story.

Happy reading!

Charlie closed her eyes and leaned against the door. Tonight had resolved nothing. She’d tried to let Neal down easy, but everything she’d said had gone over his fucking head. Confusion rioted in her skull, throbbing non-stop.

A shift of movement caught her attention, startling her. She opened her eyes and lifted her head, standing tall, on the defense.

Oh, for crying out loud!

All she needed tonight was Frank Shaw in her house, staring at her with anger spitting fire from his eyeballs.

But there he was, eyeing her open collar and cleavage, fists bunched at his sides.

Frustration, sexual and otherwise thanks to him showing up when she least expected, curled around her like molten lava spilling from a volcano.

If he wanted a fight, he’d come to the right place.

“What the hell are you doing sneaking into my house?” she demanded, stomping toward him.

“Calm down. Vikki called, asked me to hang some fucking curtains. She said you were at the bar.”

“Can’t you think up a better excuse than that?”

His eyes roamed over her from head to toe. Damn that spark in his eyes when he gazed at her like that. Anger turned to potent hunger in seconds flat, watching her as if she were the prey and he the hunter … She swallowed hard.

“If I’d known you were home and … busy, I wouldn’t have bothered. Vikki said the back door was open.”

“I’ll talk to her about that.” Charlie sighed, then walked into the kitchen. “Her room is across the hall, last door on the right.”

Undeterred, he followed her. “Hot date, huh?”

“None of your business.” He was the very last person in the world she wanted to discuss Neal with.

He leaned on the island in the center of the room. “I guess Vikki wasn’t even aware you had a date tonight.”

No doubt Vikki didn’t cared anyway. She was Team Charlie and Frank, and Charlie wouldn’t be surprised if her pal had planned the whole thing. Hang curtains, indeed. At this time of night? Without running it past the owner, her roommate? Charlie suspected Vikki was up to no good.

“Doesn’t matter.” Charlie put the last of the wine in the fridge, grabbed a cloth, and cleaned the counters. “You can do it tomorrow when I’m at work. Good-night.” Focused on one spot, she scrubbed hard, hoping he’d take the suggestion.

“You look beautiful.” His soft comment skimmed along her ear as he moved in behind her.

“Frank, don’t. I just had another guy here, for heaven’s sake.”

“Doesn’t matter. It sure didn’t end the way he thought. I know when you’ve been fucked good and satisfied and when you’re not.”

#8Sunday: In the Bunker ~ Excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE #romance #scifi #zombies

Weekend Writing Warriors personal

Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warriors post!

Thank you for coming to visit me! Here’s another excerpt from IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, a New Adult Interracial Small Town Romance story that occurs during a Zombie Apocalypse…

Set-up: Last week RJ was heading to his bunker with Missy, but her dad stopped them, along with Missy’s zombie brother and mother. Well, they made it to the bunker, but someone wasn’t so lucky…

After RJ pressed the power button, the screen took forever to come on. What started out as a little dot of light grew into live feed of his yard and the zombies in it, all of them wandering aimlessly. All except the one at the door to the bunker. Her father, now one of the undead.

She reeled back at the sight of him, the bone of his right arm exposed through a missing chunk of flesh, muscle, and whatever else used to be there. But, his face was worse. One eyeball hung from its socket while that side of his face drooped past his chin, as if his skin disintegrated and slowly fell off.

And still he banged. He knew they were in there. Instead of wanting her away from RJ, he simply wanted in, to eat their flesh, turn them into zombies as her mother and brother had done to him.

“Turn it off,” she said as her stomach turned.

IT TOOK A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

It started with a kiss.

Then the zombies came. Now, Missy must work with the neighbor her parents hate if she wants to survive. But zombies aren’t the only threat to her life, or her heart.
