Well Played 2025 edition (and some thoughts)

The 2025 edition of Well Played is now available in the Philippines under the Vida New Adult imprint of Vibal Group. Same Pride & Prejudice retelling, now updated 12 years after the first edition. I will also be signing copies at the Manila International Book Fair on September 14 (Sunday) 11am – 12pm at the Vibal booth. Catch my fellow Vida New Adult authors Carla de Guzman, Celestine Trinidad and Mina V. Esguerra there too!

It’s been quite the journey and I can’t help but feel a bit ...

Migs and Rachel read from Well Played

Two years ago today #romanceclass had its first live reading. Since then, live readings have become a hallmark of our events–and a special experience for authors. Here, Migs Almendras and Rachel Coates breathe life to Well Played’s Paul Dalmacio and Patrice Reyes. So so so lovely.

Alive, and with a new book cooking!

First things first: Berry The G, my long-time-in-the-making manuscript, is finally done! You can read the first chapter here. Some details about this book:

– It’s in the New Adult (NA) genre

– It has romance elements–romance figures heavily in the plot–but isn’t a romance per se as it does not fulfill the HEA/HFN requirement of the genre (I’m putting this out there now just so expectations are aligned oh god I’m using corporate-speak in my blog please help me)

– Like Well Played, Berry The G is ...

Berry The G Chapter 1

Oh my God, my last post was on March 2016?! Kaloka. I’m sorry for neglecting this blog. Howevuh, I have not been dormant. In 2016, I released a lot of books

under my ~steamy~ persona (which is discussed quite a bit in this BookThingo podcast, yay!), including this anthology (which you can buy here yay again).

That said, I’m gearing up to finish a young adult story that’s been percolating for a while now (and was shunted when I got into a roadblock and started developing  my romantic suspense w...

Well Played – the student edition

Calling all teachers and students! We’re doing this experiment with student editions of our work, which includes guide questions for students, discussion of themes and rationale for teachers. Here’s for Well Played:

Well Played is a localized and modernized version of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. Considered one of the masterpieces of English literature, Pride & Prejudice is a comedy of manners, an early feminist novel and a keenly observed slice of life from the Regency period in England. It...

Throwback: publishing before email(!)

We’re counting down to the 2015 Filipino Readercon on various social media platforms, which has led to some fun posts like #shelfies (where I shared my super messy bookshelf) and book spine poetry and yesterday, #bookstash — where the lovely Marian Tee shared this stash of rarities from back in my Psicom days. And I do mean rarities: these were the last extra copies I had, and these books are extremely hard to find now. (And the publisher still won’t revert the digital rights to me to allow me t...
