Another day...
Editing the editor's notes---A HORSE NAMED JOE
Oh, going through editing can be so time consuming and cause doubt and second guessing. I wonder if it's this hard for every writer?

First night
The sex was incredible. He was able to bring her
to orgasm the first night, and every time since. Now she knew why the women
that could and did experience it, wanted it. She couldn’t get enough of him. Stella
was obsessed...

Lusty tone
It was
light in the room. I suddenly felt
shy. I watched
as he took his shirt off and undid the button on his swim shorts. I could see the thin line of hair that
trailed from his belly button down into his shorts. My heart started to beat faster.
“Take it off,” he said in a lusty
tone.
I
took off the shorts and T-shirt I had on and stood in
my bikini. I was with him in this all
day and yet now I felt naked.
“The top.”
He watched as I untied the ties
taking it off. I took a
deep breath and waited.
“Now the bottom.”
I spread my legs slightly and untied
the strings on both sides letting the bottom fall to the floor. When I looked into his eyes I could see the
desire and I started to move toward him.

Heard it
I hung up the receiver and leaned against the
glass staring out at the desert. A
tumble weed rocked against the other side of the glass with the wind. Trash had piled up around it. Maybe the lonely feeling would go away once I
got home. I tried to call Max collect,
but the operator got his answering machine.
I felt like calling Ryan and realized there wasn’t anything to say. He had already heard it.

Funk
I felt
my funk creep back in. Ryan and I hadn’t
spent a lot of time together. We were in
different stages in our lives. With him
working days he was usually leaving the bar just as I was getting there. We’d skied together a hand full of times,
passed each other in a bar, and had a beer together now and then, but no real
length of time. I was surprised at how
comfortable I felt with him. When he smiled
at me I realized I was staring at him lost in my thoughts.

So good
Linda had not pried too much recently regarding
Greg, and she was happy about that. If
she thought about the sex she had with him she got flushed, it was just so
good. The girls told her to give it up,
but how could she when there was nothing to replace it? Stella wished she was stronger, wished she
could tell Greg to go pound sand. Every
time she thought she could stay away, he would suck her back in.

Lost it
Yesterday I worked most of the day on A HORSE NAMED JOE and right around 4:30 my word doc froze and I lost everything I'd done. Seems by now I would hit save more often. Nasty computers, fool us into thinking they're smart. Start again today...

An invitation?
“You
answer the door looking like something out of Victoria’s Secret and I’m
supposed to take it slow,” he teased, following her around the island.
Stella laughed nervously and moved
away again.
“Oh, you want to play a little, huh,
make me chase you,” Greg teased.
“No,” Stella said, smiling. “I want a chance to visit, to talk.”
“What you’re wearing is talking.”
Greg followed her around the
island. It made her feel desired, but
she wondered why he always had to be in such a hurry. Finally after going around the island a
couple of times, Stella set her wine glass down and slowly ran her hands down
her body, over the fabric, to her thighs.
Greg got to her just as she stopped.
“I take it that was an invitation,”
he murmured...
