Book Review: The Prophet (Graveyard Queen #3) by Amanda Stevens

I previously reviewed The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) and The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen #2) on my blog.

I liked The Prophet a little less than The Kingdom. True, it ties everything nicely together, but it leaves too much loose ends for me to rate it a five-stars. It’s like the author deliberately wanted to leave a gap open so another book could be written in the series if she wanted to. Or maybe she wanted to maintain a sense of mystery at the end. Either way, I like my trilogies more nicely...

Book Review: The Kingdom (Graveyard Queen #2) by Amanda Stevens

Yesterday I reviewed the first book in the Graveyard Queen series, The Restorer. You can read my review here. I’m going to review the third book, The Prophet, tomorrow.

Of all three books, The Kingdom is my favorite. It starts out with Amelia visiting Asher Falls, a small community in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. For Amelia it’s the perfect opportunity to get away from Charleston for a while, a welcome escape after the events that transpired in the previous book. She’s also eager t...

“Oh…Please no,” she said, barely above a whisper. She took a few tumbling steps before her knees gave out, landing in front of a mount of fallen leaves.

Something was buried underneath.

Book Review: The Restorer (Graveyard Queen #1) by Amanda Stevens

The Restorer is one of the best books I’ve ever read. Since I average 150 books a year, that’s saying something. I bought the first book in the series, was thoroughly impressed, and immediately went out to hunt for book two and three. This week I will review all three books, and give you my honest opinion about what I consider one of the best series ever. The only downside? I find it remarkably tough to write reviews about books I enjoyed immensely. Anyway, on we go.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (22)

itsmondayIt’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila of Book Journey. It’s where book bloggers gather to talk about what books they read and reviewed last week, what books they’re currently reading and what books they’re planning to read. This is a great way for me to plan my reading week, and to take a sneak peek at what others are reading.

Friday Film Review: Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

When I read the blurb for Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, I immediately wanted to see the movie. The concept was pure gold. After their unfortunate encounter with the witch (remember, the candy house? the witch? the oven?) Hansel and Gretel grow up to become witch hunters. They travel all across the country to stop persecution of so-called witches, and to kill the actual witches. So far, so good. I love this theme, so I was ready for some action when the movie started.

But it’s all so predic...

Book Review: Cage of Bones by Tania Carver

I was curious about Cage of Bones the minute I read the synopsis. I wish I could say I wasn’t a tad bit dissapointed by the book, but I am. From the synopsis, it had real potential to be something different. To stand out from the crowd. It fails to do so with your stereotypical, cardboard cut and paste police detective characters, from the uncannily correct profiler to the reluctant psychologist to the tragic hero to the villain. This is the third book in a series, but I only found out about...
