Your Money Blocks: When Fear is Holding You Back

Hey friend,

I know I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating! I work on my money mindset every single day.

And I still feel the fear - I am literally scared each and every day.

Life can be overwhelming. You might be procrastinating, feeling under pressure. It’s a real challenge being upbeat when you feel exhausted.

Today we’re doing some more excavation work on our mindset.

There are so many things from your past that you need to examine so you can feel free. We bring so much baggage into our business and our money mindset.

But we don't always know what excavation work is going to clear the money stuff. Where we’re gonna find the gold to help release a money block.

If you're in your thirties, you’ve maybe experienced 30 years of repetition of certain money stories. This has added layers to your beliefs.

You might be 60 years old and have layers and layers to excavate. That’s why this work is ongoing. It might be tough to hear, but there's always something new to uncover.

I do this work all the time, whether it’s for a one-off thing or I'm working on a launch but especially when fear is rising up.

The cool thing is that you can make more money as you're discovering your money block. Not everything has to be perfect for you to tap into more abundance.

Right now, you might be feeling:

It's unsafe for me to make more money
It's unsafe to go to that next level

And that fear can feel really real, but excavating the beliefs and experiences below this feeling is what is going to help you shift this.

Fear is really big. It’s a total dream killer.

When I was 29, I met a millionaire and I was like *gasp* and I asked her if she was free from fear. And she said no.

Arrgh! I thought that there was a hallowed amount of money where I could escape fear. But I’ve learnt that our goal is not the absence of fear.

If you're waiting for the fear to go away before you take action, you'll be waiting forever.

The good news is what scares you today won't scare you tomorrow. Getting your first client, saying no to somebody, that feels scary the first time you do it but then you move to the next level…

Starting out can be really fear-inducing. Setting new rates or raising your prices can be scary. Upleveling and getting more visible is bound to bring up some fear stuff.

Business IS scary. AND it can be really easy.

And if you’re feeling scared about money and growing your business, this process will help;

Introducing my Million Dollar Framework

Here’s my OCP process that I teach in Money Bootcamp - Seek out an Origin Story, Connect it to a Sabotage and use a Pattern Interrupt to break through the limiting belief.

Here’s a really common example that could be holding you back:

ORIGIN STORY Money doesn’t grow on trees

CONNECT TO SABOTAGE You resist easy money – like creating passive income

PATTERN INTERRUPT Why not me? Seeing other people succeed easily

Did you ever hear this as a kid, when you were growing up?

Money doesn't grow on trees.

Your family might have riffed on this and used different sayings:

You don't get something for nothing

There’s no such thing as a free lunch

Another day, another dollar

Or perhaps they just said: We can't afford it

So, now let’s Connect to the Sabotage.

There are a number of ways in which this Origin Story shows up.

Do you find yourself resistant to making money because it doesn't feel like hard enough work?
Do you ever feel as though you've not earned it, so you repel money or push it away?
Have you got a passive income product lurking on your desktop?
Are you resisting low hanging fruit in your business?
Do you try to make things more difficult?
Ever found yourself reinventing the wheel?
Do you have a really great business idea but you're resisting it because you figure everyone knows how to do that?
Do you have a sense of wanting to take the more challenging path so you can really EARN the money, or the clients?
Do you find yourself unconsciously choosing to work with clients that are an absolute pain in the butt because you feel like you have to earn the money?
Do you have broken links on your website? Especially payment ones?

Deep down you might have a sense that work has to be hard if you grew up with this Origin Story.

If you grew up seeing people grafting, witnessing your family working really hard, laboring, it might feel weird and wrong to be able to make money easily online.

You might feel like you can’t charge people for work that's easy and fun and enjoyable for you to do.

Listen, it's okay for it to be easy.

There can be so many layers around this, that work has to be hard. If you grew up without any entrepreneurial role models then often it doesn't seem easy or normal.

Watching others succeed is a great Pattern Interrupt for this Origin Story.

So when I want to write a new book or explore a new genre, I'll listen to podcasts about people who have done it, because I want to make it part of my belief system.

You have to really work at seeking success and honoring it, especially if you don't have support around you. Find those examples and really anchor them in your brain until you have a sense of “If they can do it, so can I.”

Another good Pattern Interrupt is to ask yourself: “Why not me?”

And this is a reason why it's important for you to show up too.

Because there might be someone looking up to you and thinking, "Oh my God, she looks like me/sounds like me/comes from the same background as me. If she can do it, maybe I can as well."

You’ve got this!

Take some time to look at the origin stories of your fears and how you’re sabotaging you progress.

A pattern interrupter may sound simple but you’ll be amazed at how quickly the fear can shift.

It’s your time and you're ready for the next step

To find out how guilt shows up in your life and what you can do to break through it, read my story here.

Could Your Money Personality Be Sabotaging Your Business?

Hi there,

Negative money habits can be nasty little gremlins that crop up again and again.

Recognise any of these?

You splurge on a beautiful new handbag even though bills are due…
Hoard every cent even though you haven’t taken a vacation in five years…
Resist hiring any help in your business because you believe you should be able to do it all yourself.

Whatever your money habits, I bet you’re pretty familiar with them and how they show up.

You want to have a free and easy relationship with money but it can feel uncomfortable and unstable.

The truth is that we often make our money decisions on autopilot. Our habits and beliefs with money can be ingrained in your personality and completely unique to you.

So what can you do if you feel out of control, and unhappy about the decisions you make around money?

Your Unique Money Personality and How to Crack the Code!

What if I told you that you have a unique “money DNA” which is where those habits come from?

Even better, what if I told you that you could “crack the code” on your money DNA and start to leverage your money strengths, while compensating for your weaknesses?

I can help you release that old money story and start living a new one.

There are 8 unique Money Personalities, or Archetypes which shape your money habits and money goals.

You can discover all the 8 archetypes and the strengths and weaknesses of each here.

You might wonder if it’s even possible to rest your money story, especially if you feel like your habits are deeply ingrained.

If so, I hear you. I TOTALLY used to feel that way. I wasn’t born into any special privilege, and I didn’t have strong money models growing up.

Today, I run a multi-million dollar business that’s touched the lives of tens of thousands of people around the world.

There was a time, though, when I felt like despite my massive dreams and the amount of hard work I put in, I wasn’t cut out for success.

When I first started out I used to run in person goal-setting workshops around my small Aussie town. I’d print the flyers at home (They were pretty homespun!) and tack them on café notice boards.

One day, while driving to give one of my workshops, the dodgy felt ceiling of my car fell down on top of my head.

Stop for a moment and just picture this!

I was literally driving to a workshop to inspire others to have more, be more, and do more… and the roof of my car was sagging down around my ears.

How to Reset Your Money Story using Your Sacred Money Archetype

I realized at that moment that my money life needed a reset.

I already knew how to manifest lots of things and experiences, but when it came to money, things just weren’t going the way I’d planned.

I started to think maybe I didn’t have it in me to create a thriving business from my passion. I felt like it’d never be my turn.

All of that changed, though, when I discovered Sacred Money Archetypes®.

For the first time in my life, I got a glimpse of what was possible for me if I worked on my strengths, instead of battling my weaknesses.

And for the first time, I got answers about why I’d put so many obstacles to success in my own path.

Turns out that with a few simple tweaks, I could actually capitalize on these in a BIG way.

These are the key strengths and weaknesses for each type.

The Accumulator

As an Accumulator you are conscientious, trustworthy and disciplined. You find it easy to save but you may suffer with fear and guilt around investing.

You need to learn to say yes to opportunities, because opportunities create wealth.

The Alchemist

As an Alchemist you’re idealistic, transformational and daring. You’re great at creating ideas but you may find yourself relying on others for financial support.

You need to learn to transform ideas into financial success.

The Celebrity

As a Celebrity, you are magnetic, confident and radiant. You always stand out in a crowd but you may struggle with compulsive spending.

You need to work on accumulating wealth while being admired and valued in the world.

The more comfortable you get with your finances, the more you empower yourself and others

The Maverick

As a Maverick you are clever, flamboyant and charismatic. You’re great at taking risks and paying attention to the metrics – you know your numbers. But you’re prone to gambling with your financial security.

You need to learn to create clear money boundaries.

The Romantic

Your sacred strengths as a Romantic are luxury, abundance and seeking pleasure. One of your gifts is the belief that there will always be more. You might find yourself ignoring or avoiding anything to do with money.

Your challenge is to create financial security while living life to the full.

One of the key reasons to become aware of your unique Money Personality is to be able to release yourself from the subconscious ways in which you’re limiting your potential.

Once you know your Archetype you can start to leverage and profit from your money strengths so business feels in flow and abundant.

Plus there’s a whole host of ways in which you might be holding yourself back, keeping yourself in lack and struggle.

Remember mine are Ruler, Maverick, and Romantic. My sabotages are a tendency to overwork, take risks, and ignore details about money.

Recognise any of these sabotaging beliefs?

Let’s look at how to free yourself for good.

As an Accumulator you may confuse being safe with being happy. You hold yourself back by not reaching for something more meaningful.

As an Alchemist you may be subconsciously limiting yourself by not believing you deserve to have money. You may be operating from a place of thinking that money and wealth are evil.

The Connector is so trusting of others that you may find that you lack discernment. One of the ways in which you hold yourself back is by not allowing yourself to have control of your own money.

One of the ways in which the Celebrity self-sabotages is by losing sight of what matters in life. You might be caught in a cycle when nothing ever feels enough because you’re constantly seeking the recognition of the next high.

The Maverick can self-sabotage through taking ages to get serious about responsibilities. You might feel carefree and lack the desire to look at your savings.

As a Nurturer you receive your feeling of purpose from being needed by others. Of course there’s nothing wrong with caring for others if you’re serving yourself first. Otherwise burn out and resentment are the result.

As a Romantic, you’ve probably tied your worth to your self-image. You need to become aware that you don’t need more things to live a happy life.

As a Ruler you might limit yourself by not monitoring your why. You’re holding yourself back by not focusing on what you’re doing and for whom.

8 Sacred Money Archetypes: What Are They & How To Use Them

Hi there,

Each of us is a unique combination of eight money personality types. When it comes to money, are you an Accumulator, Alchemist, Celebrity, Connector, Maverick, Nurturer, Romantic or Ruler?

The exciting thing about this framework is that your unique path to wealth starts with learning how you naturally attract and repel money according to your combination of Archetypes.

The way you run your business needs to be aligned with your unique money personality.

You can't blindly follow generic marketing advice or copy someone else's business model - it might be completely wrong for your particular archetype!

Knowing and understanding your money personality will set you on your path of least resistance to more money.

Learning to leverage your strengths will make business so much easier, fun and profitable.

Everything will flow once you know and understand your money personality.

If you're obsessed with personality quizzes, you'll love going deeper into your Sacred Money Archetypes®. It's literally game-changing!

What Are Money Archetypes?

Money Archetypes are a way of understanding how you are in the world, especially around finances - how you think, feel and behave with money.

Of course, they are all about how you relate to money and wealth, but, as founder and creator of The Sacred Money Archetypes® program, and my money mentor, Kendall Summerhawk, explains,

“The way we do money, is the way we do everything.”

So discovering and working with these archetypes will affect all areas of your life and business.

You’ll be able to

earn more money from your natural strengths,
understand your unique gifts,
overcome money challenges,
design your business model and attract ideal clients,
create the perfect role for your unique money personality.

Sounds good huh?!

Let’s take a look at each of the eight money archetypes in more detail. You might instantly recognise yourself in one or two of them!

The 8 Sacred Money Archetypes

Remember, your true personality is a combination of your top three archetypes which you discover by taking The Sacred Money Archetypes® Quiz.

Here’s an overview of each of the eight archetypes.

The Accumulator – The Inner Banker

You’re the archetype that makes things like saving, investing, and accumulating money look easy! You have a natural ability to create financial stability.

The Alchemist – The Inner Idealist

The literal definition of an Alchemist is someone who transforms things for the better, through a seemingly magical process. If you’re an Alchemist your way of relating to money can be very interesting indeed!

The Celebrity – The Inner Big Shot

Put simply, you were born to be a STAR! You have no problem spending money to enhance your self-image or status.

The Connector – The Inner Relationship Creator

You always put people and relationships first. As a Connector you’re smart enough to know that the relationships you form can also be a “connection” to bringing in the money.

The Maverick – The Inner Rebel

As a Maverick you’re marching to the beat of a different drum. You may not always be the most consistent with money, but you DO know how to attract it, make it, and use it to push ahead of the crowd, even when there’s risk involved. In fact, you LOVE risk!

The Nurturer – The Inner Sponsor

The Nurturer has a strong compulsion, need, and commitment to care for others. This can come at the expense of yourself and your own needs. But no doubt about it, the NURTURER cares about money and appreciates it too.

The Romantic – The Inner Hedonist

As a Romantic the pursuit of luxury and comfort is extremely important and quite frankly, the ONLY way to go!

The Ruler – The Inner Empire Builder

You LOVE empowering people and enriching their lives through your business as a Ruler. You thrive on creating, innovating, and building something of lasting value.

How Do Money Archetypes Affect Your Business?

Your Money Archetype impacts everything in your business. How you market yourself, how you price your products and services, and how much you allow yourself to earn.

The difference between those who continue to struggle (maybe their whole lives) and those who interrupt the pattern and turn things around is this:

People who become incredibly successful with money honor their true selves

The truth is - you're a unique combination of all 8 archetypes, and knowing your profile is a game-changer.

How to Use Your Sacred Money Archetype

You might be wondering how this works in the real world.

Learning to leverage your strengths and run your business in alignment with your personality is the key to earning more money without burnout.

Here’s how my money archetypes show up and what it means for me in business – the challenges I face and how I’ve worked with my personality to create next level success.

My three archetypes are Ruler, Maverick and Romantic.

I share the first two with my hubby, Mark. He's a Ruler, Maverick and Celebrity. We're really similar in lots of ways, but the way we spend money is totally different.

The Ruler is the empire builder. And the workaholic, to be honest. I love business; I live and breathe marketing and ideas. I'm always thinking about my business and how to make money.

I was the girl with a million jobs. I worked and worked and worked. I thought the only way to make more money was to put in more hours on the hamster wheel, work twice as hard, or get another job on top of my other jobs!

Sometimes the Ruler likes to work for the sake of working! But the good news about the Ruler is that when you decide to do something, you master it and then you usually monetize it.

So I got smart about passive income and looked for more efficient ways of running my business. I became the Queen of Batching. I got great at outsourcing.

One of the challenges of my Ruler personality is around taking time off and allowing myself a vacation. Mark is a Ruler too; we’re often workaholicking together.

For example, when we have a launch on, we work long hours. Business stuff takes priority over date nights, kissing and even just being nice to each other.

My second archetype is Maverick; I love finding new opportunities and taking big risks. I have to keep myself on track and not chase after shiny objects, or spend large amounts of money after a successful launch.

I've learned to be fairly disciplined about not starting new businesses every six months, like I did in my twenties.

The cool aspect of the Maverick in my money personality has been around goal setting. I’ve achieved some massive goals; paying off my debts, buying three houses in a year and paying off our mortgages quickly, for example.

My third archetype is Romantic; I love the luxurious chilled life. It also shows up for me as laziness. I’ve used that romantic side to indulge in outsourcing everything in my life that stresses me out.

I've hired out parts of my business that are outside my zone of genius. Win!

I love treating myself like a VIP - flying business class, staying in beautiful places and always going for the upgraded option.

One of the biggest challenges that I've had to deal with is a real reluctance to save money.

At the start of my business, it felt like a total waste to have money in the bank when I could use it to grow my business. And I was terrible at saving money for taxes.

I used to feel like I had so many bad money habits. But what honestly turned it around for me was discovering more about myself and what makes me tick as an entrepreneur.

Because I thought I had to copy what my mentors did, not realizing that they had a completely different money code to me, with different strengths, different weaknesses and different ways of looking at money.

I just internalized that maybe I'm just not good with money.

So when I first discovered the Sacred Money Archetypes® back in 2010, it shifted everything for me. Because suddenly I had a personalized blueprint for success.

And how I could leverage those things that came really easily to me, without self sabotage.

Are you getting some important ahas about your unique money personality? Read how your money personality can sabotage your success here.

I love personality tests and I love doing assessments. When it comes to self-awareness, knowledge is power.

How Sacred Money Archetypes Can Help You

What I love about the Sacred Money Archetypes is that it really shines a light on what's already working about your personality and your relationship with money.

And yes you have a unique set of archetypes, whether you believe it or not.

When you’re aware of your own special combination, it gives you all of the insight to deal with your particular brand of challenges and pitfalls to watch out for, as well.

You can totally change your life and business based on these teachings. I've learned to make, save and invest money based on my personality type, not someone else's.

I've learned to attract clients based on my unique gifts, not because something's trendy in the industry or I saw somebody else get success with that marketing strategy.

I've embraced self love and self-acceptance because I know what I have to offer is enough.

So if you've ever thought, "It's okay for them, they’re luckier, smarter, more connected than me," know that it’s just that they're probably working with their path of least resistance, not against it.

If you’re ready to start working in flow with your money personality, be sure to check out my Sacred Money Archetypes® program.

It will change your life, and your ability to call in wealth and success.

xx Denise

Common Money Blocks - When Guilt is Holding You Back

Hey friend,

I love getting curious and excavating money blocks.

With practice, it’s possible to look at your money stuff with detachment and curiosity – because it can be fun to unearth past stories and unconscious money secrets you’ve kept hidden away.

The excavation work is ongoing because Money blocks come up at every income level – whether you’re starting out or on your way to multi-million dollar status

Business is just the journey between you having an idea and someone giving you money.

It gets complicated because all of our stuff comes in and derails us.

In-between the idea and the money is fear, procrastination, imposter syndrome, finding clients, undercharging, negative self-beliefs.

So how can we let go of our limiting beliefs? We know mindset is a massive part of the work, but how can we make it practical and actionable? How can we make this easy?

Many people think mindset work means striving for perfection. They have this sense of “I have to be perfect and then I'll be deserving of the money.”

You don’t have to clear everything before you uncover the money.

Let me show you my framework for making big mindset shifts.

I teach an OCP framework in Money Bootcamp - seek out an Origin Story, Connect it to a Sabotage and use a Pattern Interrupt to break through the limiting belief.

Here’s a really common one you may have experienced:

ORIGIN STORY: Being told “Finish what’s on your plate; there are starving children in the world” when you were a child.

CONNECT TO SABOTAGE: You feel guilty - you have to finish courses before you move on. You’re not deserving of more or excess until you complete what you’ve started.

PATTERN INTERRUPT: Use the affirmation - It’s safe for me to choose

What I love about the OCP Framework is that you can start with the Connection to the Sabotage, the Pattern Interrupt or the Origin Story.

You can access it from any of the three points. You can jump around and use any of the three as a starting point.

If you love doing personal development work you could start at by saying the pattern interrupt and see what comes up for you.

You might start by Connecting to the Sabotage by asking "What's going on with me?"

You might recognise any of these sabotages:

I just feel guilty all the time and I don't know why
I feel guilty when I'm working
I feel guilty when I'm making money
I feel guilty when I'm not making money

Did you hear this when you were a kid?

You have to eat everything on your plate because there are starving children in the world?

I literally heard that all the time. And I’ve carried guilt about finishing everything on my plate for a LONG time.

Here's how that origin story might show up for you.

Do you resist buying a new course until you’ve finished a course, even if you've got everything you need from it?
Do you continue to use a shampoo that's making your scalp itch because you have to use every drop out of it before you can buy a new one?
Do you just say yes to every client that comes to you because you have to take what you’re given?
Do you choose on sale items rather than full price?
Do you not save money or have a buffer because you’re not allowed to have more than you need?
Do you have to finish a novel or movie even if it's crap?
Do you feel like you’re not allowed to have excess, you can have just enough and you have to finish it all?

Some things are not meant to be finished, you know.

Little things like this that you heard over and over and over again can have a massive impact on how you run your business.

For this particular Origin Story, a short-term Pattern Interrupter, could be an affirmation such as, "It's safe for me to choose what I need."

Or "My body's not a garbage can." "I don't have to just take things, I'm allowed to choose. I'm allowed to choose my own enoughness."

A medium-term pattern interrupter might be going to the café and instead of looking at the prices asking yourself, "What would I LIKE to eat?" and leaving food on your plate if you’re done.

To Connect to the Sabotage, consider what's a possible reason for not allowing yourself to save? Why don’t you allow yourself to have more than you need?

You might have heard as a kid, "You get one school shirt, one pair of school shoes." I could do a whole seminar about school shoes! "Tell me about your school shoes as a kid."

Having excess feels greedy, it feels like you're being excessive and so you might be unconsciously pushing it away.

You’re a grown-up, you can eat dessert for dinner if you want to, you can do whatever serves you.

You can design your business in a way that works for you.

You can choose what you invest your money in, what you invest your time in. You are free to choose.

It’s your time and you’re ready for the next step,

How to Help Your Partner Have a More Positive Money Mindset

We all have money blocks that we need to work on.

But what if the person who is derailing your money stuff is your loved one, your significant other?

Honestly, it's one of the most common questions I get asked.

It breaks my heart because sometimes the person who should be in your corner isn’t supportive.

I’ve got good and bad news for you.

Bad news: You can’t use your partner as your excuse for not making money.

It’s your responsibility to do the work around your money mindset, your thoughts and feelings.

Good news: I’ve seen so many partners turn a negative money mindset around in a snap, with just a couple of tweaks.

It’s such important work that I have a whole module around this in Money Bootcamp.

So firstly, know that this is your responsibility, you might have to put up your shield around your money and your business.

It’s your responsibility to protect your own heart.

This might mean not sharing everything about your business with your partner in real time.

You might process some of your stuff with your coach or your community. And then just share what you're learning about yourself in a top line way.

I've heard from people that they’ve put my audiobook on in the background, Get Rich, Lucky Bitch, and their partner has started to soak it in.

I've even had someone just put my book on their partner's bedside table and for some reason that had this weird, energetic effect.

It can be subliminal.

Or you could come at it from a place of curiosity.

For example, you might say, "Hey, I learned this thing about how the pocket money you received as a kid, can really impact your money mindset as an adult. Did you get pocket money when you were a kid?"

If you come from a place of curiosity, you’ll start to shift the dynamic.

When I was starting out, my husband, Mark, was anxious and would sometimes say limiting things to me.

I’d let him know, "Hey babe, when you say that, it makes me feel so bad. It really triggers my fear and my money scarcity.”

I told him, “I'm creating this business because I want us to have a future together. I want us to have an abundant life together. And you might not mean it but sometimes when you say this one thing, it really makes me feel bad."

I came from a real place of vulnerability and was just like, "I need your help here because I'm feeling vulnerable."

Other times when I was feeling less kind and gentle about it, I actually said, "Hey, look, this is my vision for the future. I’m going to have an amazing business. I'm going to be a millionaire. You can come with me or you can get off the train, but I'm going anyway."

That might sound harsh, but I needed to be clear.

It might not feel good to say that to your partner, try this instead, "Hey babe, I need to really watch my mindset right now. I really need to watch how I'm talking about money."

So if you can have this conversation with the person who's derailing you, that can have a really powerful impact.

Oftentimes, our money stuff with our partner is because we haven’t gotten really open, honest and vulnerable together.

At the end of the day, your money mindset is your responsibility.

You have to crowd out the negativity. Make sure you're listening to my podcast, reading empowering books etc. Make sure to keep working on your money mindset.

It’s possible that you're the vision holder for your partnership. I am!

Perhaps you have to hold the vision. That is your responsibility. You get to be the one to make that money.

The tools are easy to find and you have been born in the exact right time for you to be an entrepreneur and to make money.

There are no rules anymore. This is the time.

If you feel alone and vulnerable with this, make sure you reach out, come and join us in Money Bootcamp. Find me on socials @denisedt.

Take responsibility for creating a strong supportive community around you because I know it can be a really lonely journey.

It’s your time and you’re ready for the next step.

I believe in you.

How to Have a Millionaire Mindset

Hi there,

Today we’re talking about how to have a millionaire mindset.

I believe that anybody can be a millionaire.

For sure we each have different barriers to overcome on the way - some internal and some out of our control (inequality or privilege) but you can tip the scales in your favor.

Here are 7 things to know about cultivating your millionaire mindset

1)    It Can Take Time
2)    You Don’t Have to Look a Certain Way
3)    You Don’t Need to Change Your Personality
4)    Give Yourself Permission
5)    Just Take Action
6)    Act From Your Millionaire Filter
7)    Know There Are No Secrets

Let’s look at each of these in more depth. We’ll go right back to the beginning when I was working in corporate and I had a dream to become a millionaire.

1)    It Can Take Time

In my twenties, I set a goal to be a millionaire by thirty. When I reached 28, I wasn’t on track at all.

I remember whining to my colleague, “I really thought I’d be further along than I am right now.”

He told me, “Don’t worry. You’ve got time.”

It ended up being an arbitrary deadline.

It took me an extra five years to achieve that goal, and it was still a pretty cool milestone.

2)    You Don’t Have to Look a Certain Way

So what does a millionaire really look like?

Give up the idea that millionaires have to look a certain way.  I had this vision that I would be a completely different person as a millionaire.

I would be thinner. I would definitely be way more disciplined. I’d meditate every day.

I’d wear fancy clothes all the time. Always be well made-up. Generally I’d live a very fancy life.

And I wasn’t any of these things, so I was probably subconsciously blocking myself from achieving millionaire status.

I’ve never been someone who likes to wear fancy clothes. I often go out without makeup on. I live a casual kind of chillionaire lifestyle.

But because I had an idea about what a millionaire looked like, it was like a big barrier between where I was then and where I am now.

3)    You Don’t Need to Change Your Personality

I almost felt like I had to shift into another dimension before I was allowed to be wealthy.

Ask yourself...

What preconceptions do you have about being a millionaire?

Do you think you have to completely change how you dress or even who you are as a person?

Do you feel like you have to become a better person before you deserve to be a millionaire?

If you really examine your beliefs, you’ll realize that you are probably holding yourself back because you’re just not ever going to be that person.

(Maybe deep down you don’t even want to be that person).

Time to clear your story about millionaires.

Maybe you have to forgive yourself for not being “perfect enough” to be rich.

Or forgive other people in your life who have a different path to success than you do.

Clear your stories around what the media and movies have shown you about what millionaires do or how they behave.

Society often tells us that very successful people are manipulative, high fashion and a bit evil.

I had to clear all that stuff before I gave myself permission to be rich, because I didn’t want to be evil.

I didn’t want to be greedy. I didn’t want to be any of those things.

It’s really important to clear your story around all of this and allow yourself to be wealthy.

Your way.

4)    Give Yourself Permission

Give yourself permission to be exactly who you are and be wealthy.

You might think, “Well, I’m very eco conscious, so I can’t be wealthy because if I was wealthy I would turn into this greedy person who hates the environment.

Or you think, “I like wearing flip flops and shorts every day. I can’t be wealthy because rich people are really well-dressed all the time.”

Maybe you think you have to change your accent or other things about yourself, before you’re worthy.

When you give yourself permission to be who you REALLY are and rich, it’s incredibly powerful.

You can be rich and environmentally friendly.

You can be rich and generous.

You can be rich and down to earth.

You can be rich and happy.

Whatever it is that you are now, you can be the same thing with money.

When I met Oprah in person, she said that she still shops at Target. She said that money just enhances who you already are.

If you’re somebody who is greedy and manipulative, you’re going to continue to be that whether you’re rich or poor.

If you’re someone who is ethical and kind, you can rest assured that money is not going to change that.

It’s not going to ruin who you already are. It’s just going to enhance it. Money is just a tool.

5)    Just Take Action

A powerful way to develop a millionaire mindset is to tell yourself that you’re on the path right now and every day you’re taking action towards that goal.

It’s okay if you’re not there yet.

Maybe you’re a couple of years away from hitting a million dollars (it took me five years full time in my business, but a lot longer than that developing my skills).

Take action and know that you’re on your way – you’re on that journey now. Here’s a list of seven habits that helped get me to 7 figures.

If you know that you’re on the path, then there’s nothing you need to fundamentally change about yourself. Just take action.

6)    Act From Your Millionaire Filter

A powerful reframe is to take action from the filter of the millionaire mindset.

I ask myself - “How would millionaire Denise act? What would SHE do?”

How would millionaire you act? What action would you take next to continue on this path of becoming a millionaire? It really doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.

7)    There are no Secrets to Becoming a Millionaire

Honestly - there aren’t any secrets that you don’t know about becoming a millionaire.

You will continue to grow, change, learn, make mistakes and take action.

You don’t need to do anything differently.

You don’t need to change who you are.

You don’t need to suddenly become a “better” person.

You’re already there.

I want to normalize this level of wealth – read my 37 Lessons from Becoming a Self-Made Millionaire here.

I think the most important thing is to be vigilant of your thoughts and feelings.

Luckily I have a ton of resources to help you.

Jump over to denisedt.com/blocks and you’ll find my step-by-step guide to overcoming the seven most common money blocks. Once you know your block, you can clear it.

Four Times Money Blocks Pop Up For Every Entrepreneur and How to Deal with Them

Hey, gorgeous,

Today, I’m sharing the four most common times on your business journey when a money block is likely to show up and what to do so they don’t derail your business.

Money blocks are gonna show up again and again – I believe we’ll always be unpeeling those limiting beliefs! Just when you think you’ve dealt with them you hit a new level in your business and there they are again!

That’s the bad news.

You might be thinking, “WHY?!! Can’t I just deal with my money blocks once and for all?”

It’s not like that. Don’t beat yourself up if you are experiencing a money block that you thought you’d cracked.

It’s just like getting up and having a shower; you have to do it every day. Otherwise, you start to stink a little bit.

That’s just how it is.

MONEY BLOCKS IN BUSINESS AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM

Let’s talk about some crucial points in your life where they might come up more than others.

1)   When you’re starting out
2)   When you launch a program
3)   When you hit an income plateau
4)   When you set a big money goal

Let’s take a look at each of these points in your life as a business owner and I’ll share some of my top tips around busting through your money blocks for each scenario too.

1)   When you’re starting out

Launching your business? Money blocks will come up! When you’re getting your business off the ground, your money blocks can really derail you. You might experience a lot of resistance and procrastination. This might be the first time that they have even come up for you.

Most of the time in a job, you don’t get blocked about money. Maybe you’ve never experienced money blocks before.

Now, suddenly you are having to set your own prices, somebody’s asking you, “Can I get a discount on that?” or “Would you like to barter?”

All these things are happening and it’s all new.

The first time you get a refund request, it’s new. The first time you get a complaint, that’s new.

Every time that that happens, you are going to feel like you can’t get past it. Luckily that’s not the case.

The good news is that things that scare you today around money, in the future, won’t even be a problem.

You’ll just be like, “Oh, refund request. We’ve got a system in place to deal with that. Oh, complaint? Okay. We’ve got a procedure for that as well.

It’ll become really, really easy in time.

But the first time you do anything, it’s a rite of passage. It’s just something that every entrepreneur has to go through.

The funny thing is though, a lot of people want to quit when they have an awkward or difficult money conversation

Your only job is to get through it; you’re not going to die, it’s okay, you can survive and you can work your way through it.

If you’re new in business, big hugs to you because this is the time when you really have to work on your money blocks and you really have to be vigilant about your thoughts and feelings about money.

2)   When you launch a program

Launching something? Money blocks will come up!

Money blocks will come up at very critical points in your business, like when you are launching something new.

This is when you start to second guess your pricing; you look around and compare everyone’s prices.

You start to second guess every single part about your business.

You start to ask yourself, “Am I worth it? Am I enough? Did I do enough?”

This is when you start to overcompensate and you start to put more and more into your products and programs. Ever fallen into the trap of over-giving? I have, far too many times.

This is a huge one. You might be thinking, “This is not enough. I have to give more. I have to give more bonuses!”

The best thing you can do at this stage is just to follow your launch plan.

Know that those gremlins are really normal and it just means you’re going to the next level and you’re facing some resistance around it. If you’ve gotten through those money blocks at the start of your business, then it’s going to be much easier at those other critical points to get through them as well.

Remember, launching in your business is such an emotional thing and emotions can be heightened. You have to be very careful that you’re not making up stories about yourself during that time.

Stories like, “I’m not good enough. Nobody wants my stuff. Everyone else has got it together and I don’t.”

Really, really watch those stories. They will kill your business and they’re not even true!

3)   When you hit an income plateau

Hit an income plateau? (Spoiler alert… MONEY BLOCKS)

The third most popular time that you might hit your money blocks is when you’ve hit an income plateau.

This is when your money blocks are really going to come up because you might start to tell yourself stories.

“This is the most amount of money you’ve ever been able to make in your life and any success you’ve had so far has been a fluke. You’ll never, ever earn more money than this.”

These money blocks and this real negative self-talk can be so destructive. But please don’t see these as a sign to give up or quit. The world needs your particular magic.

You can rise above your own self-limiting beliefs about money and your ability to earn it.

If you’ve hit an income plateau , check out my 9 money mindset tips to break through it.

4)   When you set a big money goal

Got a big money goal? Money blocks will find you!

If you’ve set a new big goal like getting to six figures or seven figures it’s super likely your money blocks will rear up.

You might be thinking, “But surely when I hit six figures my life will be perfect. Surely when I hit seven figures I will just be this amazingly perfect human being.”

Sorry, it doesn’t work like that.

You are still going to be the exact same person you are now with the same thoughts, feelings, fears and self-limiting beliefs about money.

But, when you have the tools, you will be able to recognize your money blocks quicker, you’ll be able to recognize your own self-sabotage and move through it as well. And you’ll have the armor and the fortitude to keep on going no matter what, until the next one.

That’s the good and bad news. You’re always going to have money blocks is the bad news. The good news is you get better and better at dealing with them.

You might be wondering what your particular money block is? I’ve got a super simple resource for that, which you can find at DeniseDT.com/blocks

Figure out which money block you’re suffering from at the moment and where it comes from. What belief is behind it?

Once you know it, you can clear it.

Next time it comes up, you’ll be able to recognize it and give it the flick much quicker so you can move on and really create that life and business that you really want.

Different money blocks can also come up at different stages of business or sizes of income, here’s my guide to the blocks that might crop up at each stage of your business, whether you’re just starting out or a multi-millionaire.

It’s your time and you’re ready for the next step,

6 Ways to Earn More While Working Less

Hey there,

How do you like the idea of working LESS and earning MORE?!

Many entrepreneurs think that the only way to get more money is to work harder for longer.

Maybe you’ve hit an income plateau, and you just can’t figure out how you’re supposed to earn more without totally burning yourself out.

I’ve lots of strategies to help you work less and earn more.

The most common money block I see is that “making money has to be hard”.

And guess what? This is STILL mine today, and one I have to work at clearing regularly.

I’m not kidding. Even though I run a million-dollar business, I still have to work against the idea that making money needs blood, sweat and tears.

 My Money Block

I hit the ‘making money is hard’ block in my first month of business when I made $225, and I often come up against it today too.

Maybe you have the same unconscious belief that stops you taking action in your business, or sabotages your efforts to make things easier.

The first step is to deal with the mindset stuff. Learn how to cultivate a better money mindset.

My 6 Practical Strategies for Working Less and Earning More Money!

1)    Prioritize money-making activities
2)    Systematize and automate
3)    Batch tasks to save time
4)    Delegate, delegate, delegate
5)    Create passive income products
6)    Give yourself permission

Let’s look at each of these in more depth.

 Tip #1 Prioritize money-making activities

Once you’ve cleared out all the limiting beliefs, it’s time to take an honest look at your daily business activities.

How many of your daily “to-do”s actually generate income, and how many of them are just time-wasters?

Sometimes you have to be BRUTAL with your time and just focus on things that bring you clients, and save the rest. Getting the perfect hex color for your website won’t necessarily make you money. That’s procrasti-branding!

Tip #2 Systematize and automate

Many entrepreneurs waste a ton of time doing things manually that they could easily automate. Here are a few things you could automate:

appointment scheduling
social media posting
email autoresponders

And even if you don’t want to completely automate something, simply setting up a smart system for it can really reduce the time it takes.

But get rid of the block that says that you HAVE to do everything yourself or it doesn’t count.

Automating things to make your life easy isn’t “cheating”: it’s being a smart business owner.

Tip #3 Batch tasks to save time

OMG, batching content has been a LIFE-SAVER for me!

There’s no way I could run a million-dollar business (and raise three young kids), if I had to write, edit and film a post every single week.

So instead, I write a year’s worth of content in one go, and then it’s all done and dusted for the next twelve months. Easy!

Okay, it did take me a while to get this organized, but you can start small.

Try batching a month’s worth of videos in advance instead of doing them all the night before.

#4 Delegate, delegate, delegate

CEO doesn’t stand for “Chief Everything Officer”, so stop doing everything yourself!

You could seriously be the bottleneck in your business growth if everything depends on your time and energy.

Where could you be getting more help in your business?

Here’s my advice on how to not screw up hiring your first assistant. It’s totally OK to get someone else to do the tasks you hate doing.

Start with the things that you’re terrible at, and then work your way through your to-do list.

Even if it’s scary releasing control, you’ll soon realize how amazing it is to leverage your time by hiring others.

Being a good delegator is often the difference between business overwhelm and business ease.

Tip #5 Create passive income products

Next up, the biggest thing you can do to earn more with less work is create a passive income product.

Not coincidentally, it’s also the one that many entrepreneurs resist the most.

Even if your business is totally dependent on your time and energy right now, you can start small and create something like a book or audio as your first passive income product.

As you start to earn money while you sleep, you’ll become addicted.

You can pretty much package up your skills and knowledge and help people all around the world, without leaving your house (or putting on a bra!)

Tip #6 Give yourself permission

Lastly – give yourself permission to earn more and work less.

It’s totally okay and safe for you to earn amazing income without burning yourself out or wringing out every last drop of energy.

And that’s true even if other people in your life are working hard.

Even if you don’t think it “counts” if you don’t put blood, sweat and tears into your work.

Even if your work is easy, and even ENJOYABLE for you.

It’s totally okay for you to make more money without working harder.

If you need permission, I’m giving it to you. Right here and now.

Core takeaway: work to your strengths!

Seriously, if you take just ONE message away let it be this: working to your strengths isn’t lazy or undisciplined.

It’s actually the smartest thing you can do for your business, your energy levels, and your sanity.

You’ll be able to serve a LOT more people AND feel abundant.

To help you get started with clearing your specific money blocks and receiving more, I’ve created a free video masterclass.

It’ll walk you step-by-step through recognizing – and then dealing with – the seven most common entrepreneurial money blocks.

You can get it free today from denisedt.com/blocks

Money blocks don’t have to derail you - you can embrace them and move on to creating a First Class life for you and your family.

It's your time and you're ready for the next step,

February 14, 2022

Does Valentine’s Day trigger your money blocks?

Valentine’s Day can be full of love and sweetness (and roses!)

But let’s face it - it can also feel lonely and it might bring up old money stories about self-worth and your deservingness to receive. All the emotions!

Disappointment, resentment, fear, sadness, FOMO, shame.

Sorry to be Denise Downer, but honestly, this is a rich seam to excavate old money beliefs.

(To be honest, any gift-giving holiday is an opportunity to examine your money blocks!)

Like - I remember at school, I never got a rose from anyone. I had boyfriends who “didn’t believe” in “Hallmark holidays” and then I married someone who always went overboard with presents.

All which triggered my deservingness issues.

Over to you - what are your emotions around Feb 14?

Do you get presents (or not)? Did you feel loved (or not)?

Maybe you’re a maverick who rebels against the idea of such a commercialized day.

All of this emotional stuff feels so challenging! But I promise it’s good for your money.

And I’m here to help.

So, let’s talk about three money blocks that are perfect to talk about this time of year!

MONEY BLOCK 1 – Am I worthy?

Worthiness is one of the most common money blocks and can impact everything from your pricing to your invoicing.

It can manifest in procrastination - especially if you’re waiting for someone else to CHOOSE YOU.

Valentine’s Day comes with a heavy dollop of worthiness reminders.

Especially if you feel unloved.

It’s really common to grow up with a sense of needing someone else to validate your worth.

Maybe your partner forgets to buy you a present. Maybe you feel unappreciated.

Maybe you feel shame for wanting to be celebrated and disappointed that you’re not.

Affirmations:

I deeply and completely love myself.

It’s safe for me to be celebrated

MONEY BLOCK 2 – It’s not ok for me to receive

This one came up for me big time when Mark and I got married.

I didn’t feel deserving of spending money so I never went to a SINGLE bridal store.

On my big day, I wore a cheap dress off eBay.

I wasn’t in a space of receiving. I felt uncomfortable with all the attention (and the cost)

Or maybe you were told growing up, “it’s better to GIVE than RECEIVE”

This might show up for you in lots of different ways.

Maybe it’s hard for you to take compliments.

Or you hate receiving gifts because it feels awkward, or you feel guilty.

It’s worth exploring whether there’s an old money story around receiving lurking in there.

Because practice receiving the small stuff, and you can receive a lot more abundance.

Affirmations:

It’s safe for me to receive

I serve, I deserve.

MONEY BLOCK 3 - I’m not enough

This is such a common one - and it really underpins all our money blocks.

I’m not enough.

I’m not smart enough. I’m not thin enough. I’m not pretty enough.

And combined with Valentine’s Day, it might trigger all the old stories about how you’re not allowed to have all the abundance, love and JOY you desire.

If your V-Day gifts (or lack of) reinforce that idea, it can feel really hard and uncomfortable.

Remember:

You are infinitely valuable.
You are deserving.
You are loved.

Affirmations:

I deeply and completely love and accept MYSELF.

It’s safe for me to value myself.

Let it go:

This V-Day, spend some time reflecting on your old stories related to love and how it impacts your money, relationships and creativity.

Forgive old lovers

Burn some old love letters

Release any shame, blame and resentment about love.

And give yourself permission to receive.

Guess what? You don’t have to wait for someone else to make you feel loved and valued.

Here are four things you can do (anytime)

Buy yourself some gorgeous flowers. Not the cheapest, marked-down ones – the ones that make your heart sing.

Practice receiving small things, like compliments, for example. Let your friend pay for coffee. Breathe and receive!

Pay it forward. Give a gift, compliment or surprise to someone. Random acts of kindness can lift your mood and usher in abundance.

Practice asking for what you want – tell your partner that you’d like breakfast in bed or show them the piece of jewelry you love. ASK and you shall receive. Or buy it for yourself.

This is such a rich topic and there can be so much work around love and money!

Let me know about your Valentine’s Day experiences, okay?

Sending you lots of love,

xx Denise
