How to design your business based on your Money Archetype

 

When I started in business, I sought out mentors and did what they told me to do. 

For my very first foray into business, I bought a course and put my business together exactly how they told me.

But as a Ruler, Romantic, Maverick, this didn't pan out for me, and I couldn't understand why – I'm a good student and wanted it to work.

Now I know that there are specific business models for different personalities. 

I'm here to help you find the easiest path for you and then double down on your superpower. 

An Alchemist might have a million domain names and half-finished books. One of these must be the perfect business idea, right?! So why not combine ALL these ideas - a membership where you create something entirely different for your audience every month? 

On the surface, a membership might seem like a great business idea for a Connector because they love bringing people together. But connectors struggle with the feeling that once a group gets too big, they lose the connection with everybody. 

One of the gifts of the Accumulator is the ability to see what's wrong. They can critique things. How can you use this part of yourself to see what's wrong and allow people to pay you for that? You could offer website audits, for example. 

Mavericks need a lot of freedom. I know a Maverick who creates courses, and then she sells them to other people. She doesn't want to be stuck doing the same thing over and over. 

Nurturers can feel left out and alone in the business world because, in our society, we value speed. A friend of mine has created the Gentle Business Mastermind to give you lots of spaciousness. The value of the Nurturer is in slowing down. 

Romantics need a business model that gives a lot of freedom. So I'd recommend embracing automation, passive income, and systems. Creating the infrastructure might be boring, but it will allow you to do business when you feel like it. So you can go traveling!

The big mistake that Rulers make is trying to do too many things. You might benefit from a simple business model like mine, where "All Roads Lead to Bootcamp." I need to keep that overdelivering Ruler in check. Remember, you can't do everything yourself. 

As a Celebrity building your business, ensure you have enough time to shine and be fabulous. You can create your own talk show from home. Create a YouTube channel, and do fun things on TikTok. Create a platform where you can magnetize people with your energy.

What is your favorite aspect of Sacred Money Archetypes®?

I like to work with the people who are accountable. "We're holding you accountable. What are you doing each week to move yourself and your business forward?" We get that in the Money Bootcamp. We get that in SMA as well.

 

How do your top 3 Archetypes work together or against each other?

For me, it's more so in my personal life, as well, than in my business, especially the Celebrity and the Romantic. My husband is also an Accumulator and oh my, the struggles that we have had because I'm like, "We'll be fine. Everything is fine. We're good." He's like, "No, we're not! The world is burning down! We need everything in the bank!" I'm like, "We are okay." It is just that night and day difference. I do think that he helps a little bit with balancing me out because I do have that double whammy of the Celebrity and Romantic. 

 

What would you say to someone who is looking to join Sacred Money Archetypes®?

I would say if you are looking for a way to understand yourself, your business, how you operate with others, communicate, connect, this would be the place for you to be. It has helped me really understand my husband. It has helped me understand my clients, especially now. I'm just really excited to use this moving forward into the new changes that I'm making in my business. I would say, don't wait. Jump in hands first, or feet first, whatever way that goes first, just jump in.

My name is Kerri and I am a Celebrity, Romantic and a Maverick. I'm a singer, a musician, and a performer. I run an agency, an academy. I've worked for 16 years in the performing arts industry as a director, producer and so many things.

Was there anything surprising when you found out your Archetypes?

The Celebrity one was no great surprise to me. And I was like, oh, finally, I get to own it and just say, like Janet said, I like really beautiful things. And it's important for me to have beautiful things. And I actually am a Celebrity. I work in the performing arts center. I work in show business. I'm on stage. That's my job. And there was always the society, societal shames and putting people in boxes and things like And it was the first time I actually came across that when it validated my experience on planet earth, as a performer, as somebody who lives in the limelight to say, actually people need this, this is your job. So that was really nice for me. And so that bit came as no surprise.

 

How do your top 3 Archetypes work together or against each other?

I've embraced the Celebrity and even the Romantic, because today I took myself off for a nap for an hour during the middle of the day, which I never used to do. And now I do it. It's actually part of the business plan. 

And then the Maverick bit was great. I was like, oh, that unlocked so much for me. I'm such a rebel. I've been such a rebel my entire life and that's never been a great ... that actually isn't great. I think in some areas it can hold you back. So the negative aspects of the maverick and then the romantic again, when I heard that, I think that has been, continues to be probably the most challenging aspect. But it's also fed into my new business model in that I actually don't like to ... I've realized that my Romantic is coming out to play. 

So I get up at half six. I'm straight in the hot tub. I meditate. I'm in my hot tub and that is such a Romantic/Celebrity move right there. I've got a hot tub out the back and the energy prices in the UK have doubled and it's costing me 35 pounds a week to run that hot tub. And I'm just like, it is something that I'm going to keep because that 35 pound I'm getting my best ideas in there.

"It's about allowing myself that Celebrity, Romantic feeling, it is totally first class, honestly. It's an amazing life change. And the other thing that's interesting is that I've been talking about that and I've paid off loads of debt this last year as well."




What have you changed in your business since discovering your Archetypes?

Now I pitch myself as a luxury high end jazz singer, and now I get paid hundreds of pounds to do a gig, sometimes thousands instead of scrambling around for little gigs.

And I think it's more difficult when you're starting out or you are not a big Celebrity, but you are a Celebrity SMA, you're a Celebrity archetype because for me, it's like, with my original music, I just play sort of smaller gigs on my guitar or the small band, but it's still 100% all about the glamor, the glitz, it's all the stuff that goes in around the side of it. And especially as a Celebrity, how that shows up as my diva archetype, is I do get stressed out before gigs and I do know that I need to have a hotel with really good pillows. 

And even if I finish a gig at half 10, I want to be in my hotel room with room service, watching a film and the accusations of being a diva for that. But actually you know that, that's what you need to do a good job and a comfortable ride and an easy ... I'm done with the hustling. And I think, when you're not a Celebrity, you're not a big famous singer, you're not Lady Gaga, it'd be like, well, who are you to demand those things? And I don't care now because of a combination of a few things. I'm just like, that's what I have to do.

I've really managed to elevate us now into a new level of the industry, which is amazing. So we're playing some really high profile gigs now.

I got that first 10K month after being diagnosed, I was really ill. And I spent days and days and days in bed and at the end of the 10 day stretch in bed, I just made so much money. The 8 different money personality types - Which one are you?

These are the key strengths and weaknesses of each type. 

The Accumulator 

As an Accumulator, you are conscientious, trustworthy, and disciplined. You find it easy to save, but you may suffer from fear and guilt around investing.

You need to learn to say yes to opportunities because opportunities create wealth.

The Alchemist 

As an Alchemist, you’re idealistic, transformational, and creative. You’re great at creating ideas, but you may find yourself relying on others for financial support.

You need to learn to transform ideas into financial success.

The Celebrity

As a Celebrity, you are magnetic, confident, and radiant. You always stand out in a crowd, but you may struggle with compulsive spending.

You need to work on accumulating wealth while being admired and valued in the world.

The Connector

As a Connector, you are trusting, innocent and resilient. You are great at creating valuable relationships, but you may not feel very empowered about money. Tackling your finances may feel overwhelming.

The more comfortable you get with your finances, the more you empower yourself and others

The Maverick 

As a Maverick, you are clever, flamboyant, and charismatic. You’re great at taking risks and paying attention to the metrics – you know your numbers. But you’re prone to gambling with your financial security.

You need to learn to balance financial risk with money security.

The Nurturer

The Nurturer is all about giving, devotion and reliability. You always give amazing value, but you struggle with the need to rescue others.

You need to learn to create clear money boundaries.

The Romantic 

Your sacred strengths as a Romantic are luxury, abundance, and seeking pleasure. One of your gifts is the belief that there will always be more. You might find yourself ignoring or avoiding anything to do with money.

Your challenge is to create financial security while living life to the full.

The Ruler

As a Ruler, you are courageous, visionary, and determined. You’re great at creating an empire where everyone thrives, but you struggle with the feeling that there’s never enough money.

Your lesson is to learn how to achieve leadership and prosperity with grace and ease.

Is your Money personality sabotaging you?

As an Accumulator, you may confuse being safe with being happy. You hold yourself back by not reaching for something more meaningful.

As an Alchemist, you may be subconsciously limiting yourself by not believing you deserve to have money. You may be operating from a place of thinking that money and wealth are evil.

The Connector is so trusting of others that you may find that you lack discernment. One of the ways in which you hold yourself back is by not allowing yourself to have control of your own money.

One of the ways in which the Celebrity self-sabotages is by losing sight of what matters in life. You might be caught in a cycle when nothing ever feels enough because you’re constantly seeking the recognition of the next high.

The Maverick can self-sabotage by taking ages to get serious about responsibilities. You might feel carefree and lack the desire to look at your savings.

As a Nurturer, you receive your feeling of purpose from being needed by others. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with caring for others if you’re serving yourself first. Otherwise, burnout and resentment are the results.

As a Romantic, you’ve probably tied your worth to your self-image. You need to become aware that you don’t need more things to live a happy life.

As a Ruler, you might limit yourself by not monitoring your why. You’re holding yourself back by not focusing on what you’re doing and for whom.

The way you run your business needs to be aligned with your unique money personality.

You can't blindly follow generic marketing advice or copy someone else's business model - it might be completely wrong for your particular archetype!

Knowing and understanding your money personality will set you on your path of least resistance to more money.

Learning to leverage your strengths will make business so much easier, fun and profitable.

Here’s an overview of each of the eight archetypes.

The Accumulator – The Inner Banker

You’re the archetype that makes things like saving, investing, and accumulating money look easy! You have a natural ability to create financial stability.

The Alchemist – The Inner Idealist

The literal definition of an Alchemist is someone who transforms things for the better through a seemingly magical process. If you’re an Alchemist, your way of relating to money can be very interesting indeed!

The Celebrity – The Inner Big Shot

Put simply; you were born to be a STAR! You have no problem spending money to enhance your self-image or status.

The Connector – The Inner Relationship Creator

You always put people and relationships first. As a Connector, you’re smart enough to know that the relationships you form can also be a “connection” to bringing in the money. 

The Maverick – The Inner Rebel

As a Maverick, you’re marching to the beat of a different drum. You may not always be the most consistent with money, but you DO know how to attract it, make it, and use it to push ahead of the crowd, even when there’s risk involved. In fact, you LOVE risk!

The Nurturer – The Inner Sponsor

The Nurturer has a strong compulsion, need, and commitment to care for others. This can come at the expense of yourself and your own needs. But no doubt about it, the NURTURER cares about money and appreciates it too.

The Romantic – The Inner Hedonist

As a Romantic, the pursuit of luxury and comfort is extremely important and, quite frankly, the ONLY way to go!

The Ruler – The Inner Empire Builder

You LOVE empowering people and enriching their lives through your business as a Ruler. You thrive on creating, innovating, and building something of lasting value.

Here’s how my money archetypes show up and what it means for me in business – the challenges I face and how I’ve worked with my personality to create next-level success.

My three archetypes are Ruler, Maverick, and Romantic. 

I share the first two with my hubby, Mark. He's a Ruler, Maverick, and Celebrity. We're really similar in lots of ways, but the way we spend money is totally different. 

The Ruler is the empire builder. And the workaholic, to be honest. I love business; I live and breathe marketing and ideas. I'm always thinking about my business and how to make money. 

I was the girl with a million jobs. I worked and worked and worked. I thought the only way to make more money was to put in more hours on the hamster wheel, work twice as hard, or get another job on top of my other jobs!

Sometimes the Ruler likes to work for the sake of working! But the good news about the Ruler is that when you decide to do something, you master it, and then you usually monetize it. 

So I got smart about passive income and looked for more efficient ways of running my business. I became the Queen of Batching. I got great at outsourcing. 

One of the challenges of my Ruler personality is around taking time off and allowing myself a vacation. Mark is a Ruler too; we’re often workaholicking together. 

For example, when we have a launch, we work long hours. Business stuff takes priority over date nights, kissing, and even just being nice to each other. 

My second archetype is Maverick; I love finding new opportunities and taking big risks. I have to keep myself on track and not chase after shiny objects or spend large amounts of money after a successful launch. 

I've learned to be fairly disciplined about not starting new businesses every six months like I did in my twenties. 

The cool aspect of the Maverick in my money personality has been around goal setting. I’ve achieved some massive goals; paying off my debts, buying three houses in a year, and paying off our mortgages quickly, for example. 

My third archetype is Romantic; I love the luxurious chilled life. It also shows up for me as laziness. I’ve used that romantic side to indulge in outsourcing everything in my life that stresses me out. 

I've hired out parts of my business that are outside my zone of genius. Win!

I love treating myself like a VIP - flying business class, staying in beautiful places, and always going for the upgraded option. 

One of the biggest challenges that I've had to deal with is a real reluctance to save money. 

At the start of my business, it felt like a total waste to have money in the bank when I could use it to grow my business. And I was terrible at saving money for taxes. 

I used to feel like I had so many bad money habits. But what honestly turned it around for me was discovering more about myself and what makes me tick as an entrepreneur. 

Because I thought I had to copy what my mentors did, not realizing that they had a completely different money code to me, with different strengths, different weaknesses, and different ways of looking at money. 

I just internalized that maybe I'm just not good with money.

So when I first discovered the Sacred Money Archetypes® back in 2010, it shifted everything for me. Because suddenly, I had a personalized blueprint for success.

How To Write and Publish Your Life-Changing Book in Five Simple Steps

Hi there,

Writing MY books – the books that stayed inside me for ages because I was too scared to unleash them onto the world – changed my life.

They gave me instant credibility, a platform to talk to people about my business and I love seeing my name in print. It’s so fun and rewarding.

Lil’ ego boost!

But that’s not why I did it.

Ever since I learnt to read and my mom bought me an Olivetti typewriter for my 9th birthday, I’ve wanted to be a writer.

A real life author - helping and entertaining people with my stories and ideas.

I wrote Lucky Bitch, Get Rich, Lucky Bitch, and Chillpreneur because they were dying to come out of me. I wanted my message to help people. 

I know you’ve got a story you’re itching to share too. I asked myself if I would regret not writing a book on my deathbed, and the answer was YES.

But it terrified me. What if people hate it?

My books are now published by Hay House but that’s not how I started out! 

It’s twelve years since I launched my first book. And my latest book, Chill and Prosper just came out and hit best-seller status! 

But back when I started, I self-published. And I did it super quick – I wrote a book in a month.

I’m serious. Fast action is always rewarded by the Universe.

People often ask me how I wrote Lucky Bitch. The short answer is “I wrote a word document and made a pdf!”. But of course, there’s more to it than that.

So how do you write and publish your own book?

Five Simple Steps to Writing and Publishing Your Own Book

      Set an intention to be a published author
      Find creative ways to get it done… fast
      Decide how you’re going to publish it
      Plan how you’re going to make money out of your book
      Chill, it’s never going to be perfect

 

In a nutshell….

1. Set an intention to be a published author

The actual desire to be a published author is hugely important because without that burning desire, it might not ever happen. The fear and procrastination will derail you, so if you keep your eye on the ultimate goal, you’ll be able to get through it.

Visualize yourself with your book on book shelves. See yourself signing books and having sales come pouring in. 

Imagine your cover. Visualize being interviewed on Oprah talking about your book. Put a mock cover on your dream board.

I set an intention to write a book but I didn’t have an idea. So I asked the Universe for a “Million dollar book title”. Within a week, I came up with Lucky Bitch!

 

2. Find creative ways to get it done… fast

There’s no need to spend years writing your book. Remember at school when you would pull an all nighter and get your 5000 word essay done? Well, channel that part of yourself.

I wrote my thesis at University in less than a month, so I knew I could do Lucky Bitch in the same timeframe. My thesis wasn’t amazing but it was a solid B and definitely enough to pass. 

Yes, it would have been fabulous if I was organized and diligent, but I wasn’t.

And I’m not now. So, if you’re like me (smart but a little bit lazy and prone to procrastination), don’t wait for the stars to align. Just hustle like you’ve got a school deadline.

There are so many ways to write your book fast, such as:

Transcribe being interviewed
Asking others to contribute
Mining blog articles
Suck it up and just chain yourself to the computer!

It’s also completely worth it to outsource some of the tricky aspects like editing and formatting rather than trying to do it yourself. That saves time too. 

If you’re on a budget, you can do it all yourself. You can always improve the book later (that’s the beauty of the self publishing model).

 

3. Decide how you’re going to publish it

There are so many different options on how to get published. Traditional publishing can be harder if you’re just starting out.

Besides, if you’re a control freak, self-publishing is a great option because you can create it exactly how you want it. You can self-publish now to build a platform and use it to attract a major publishing house later. This is what I did!

I love the immediacy of self-publishing. You could literally have a book up by the end of this week. The downside is that there is a lot of crap being published out there, but the advantage is that your work will stand out

Decide which platforms you’re going to use, such as CreateSpace, Smashwords, Kindle, ebook, Lulu, etc. You can start with one and add additional formats as you go, including print format. 

There is very little cost involved and virtually zero barriers to entry. You have no excuse.

When I started out I used Amazon CreateSpace and Kindle. 

 

4. Plan how you’re going to make money out of your book

Unfortunately, writing a book isn’t necessarily the ticket to winning the lottery. I’ve had clients who are officially a “best-selling author”, but not making enough for a full time income. It sucks, but it’s true.

The most successful self-publishing stories are either very prolific writers or entrepreneurs who have a big “back end” stable of other products and services.

Create a marketing plan using everything at your disposal – social media, blogging and anything else you can think of! You’re only limited by your imagination.

The great thing is that your book can build a platform of readers who know and like you. 

Some of those readers would love to work with you further, so survey your readers and listen to what they’re asking for.

 

5. Chill, it’s never going to be perfect

I’ve seen huge best-sellers with typos. It will happen, let go of perfectionism.

The beauty of self-publishing is that you can release new editions all the time.

Also – when you put your great work out into the world, you give complete strangers the opportunity to judge your work. That can be extremely tough, but don’t let that fear derail you.

Writing a book can literally change your life. Would you regret letting the opportunity pass you by just because you’re scared or frustrated by the process?

No – so just go for it!
