Batman...

As it turns out, I'm actually currently working on a Batman project. It's not for DC Comics directly, but instead through the publisher Random House. I'll post artwork for that as soon as I'm able, but it's very fun to be working on Super Hero stuff again. I'm wrapping that up very soon. I'm starting a new mini-series of 3 issues soon with a new property. I'll post more about that as I can as well.

Until then, I'll be able to show my progress on various con commissions, whittling down my longstanding commission list, and my list of Kickstarter Commissions from the Elders of the RuneStone campaign.

An update for that Kickstarter will be going out very soon, but just to do a brief update here, we are halfway done with issue #3 and nearly halfway done with issue #4 for the line art. We have publishing options in place as soon as the work's done and our goal is to have that all wrapped up and all the rewards mailed out in the late fall. So between now and then keep an eye out for updates on the kickstarted commissions and artwork through my blog.

Thanks to everyone that has supported us for your patience! The production delay has been entirely on my shoulders as we've needed me to fit in work around my deadline schedule and that's always difficult. I've had a few breaks recently that's allowed me to work out new layouts and keep production going for the next few weeks.

So on to my sketch. This was done at the recent Heroes Con for Jeff Streeter. Cool dude, and has already commissioned quite a few pieces from me. This sketch was done in his very accomplished Teen Titans sketchbook with some pretty amazing pieces already in there.  This is the Dick Grayson Batman from when he took on the Batman mantle a few years ago. You can mostly tell it's not the Bruce Wayne Batman through his gauntlets and bat-utility belt design.

My next convention will be Baltimore Comic Con, This coming Sept. I'll be in Artist Alley.http://baltimorecomiccon.com/guests/artist-alley/

Commissions and sketches!

Finally after a few cons and commissions worked into my deadline schedule I have some work to show. I'll try and increase  how frequent I update the blog and social sites.

To kick this off I wanted to spotlight a new color print I have available. This Baroness is a good example of what I offer for a head and torso sketch at conventions. Colors by Matt Wheat, a good friend and now production assistant for my studio. Atleast until he heads off to college this Fall.
Baroness - 666

If you're interested in an 11x17 print, it is $15 with $5 shipping as a flat rate for domestic U.S. If you're interested in international shipping, please email me directly and we can work out that shipping rate.

Wetsuit - GI JOE...

A quick Wetsuit commission. I'll be reworking my schedule a bit, to make commissions more of a priority. Kind of starting up my sketch a day again, and since I have plenty of commissions and con sketches to catch up on, I'll have no loss of characters to draw.

For those of you waiting for a commission, thanks for being so patient. Just keep an eye on my blog and facebook and I'll have it done as soon as I possibly can.

As for Wetsuit, I haven't drawn this guy since GI JOE V1 issues 21 and 22 covers for IDW. Both were some of my favorite covers to that point. They seemed exactly like the kind of old school "Special Missions" book I'd love to draw if IDW were to launch it.

Torch and Spidey penciled commission

This was a commission for some friends of a friend! Im never terribly good at drawing likenesses, it's just a skill I've never had the desire to develop. In this case, I found it relatively easy and I think for the most part the likenesses are pretty accurate. Occasionally I can hit it, but I think it's always by accident if I do.

It was also a blast to draw the Spidey rogues gallery of characters in the back.

Snake Eyes Scarlett commission

Here's another commission. Always fun to draw these characters, but a more quiet moment. The layout and scene was a very specific request. I like doing these full environments, but they can be time consuming for sure.

Recent commission progress...

I've still been busy as usual these past few months. Fun projects all around, but unfortunately most of it is work that I can't show. I'm currently drawing 2 issues of "X" for Dark Horse comics. Issues 13 and 14. I'll be done with that by mid-April and should be able to fit in another round of commissions then.

For anyone that has an outstanding commission that you're waiting on from me, please email me again for an update.

This Ultimate Spiderman commission has been one that was a long time coming, and finally wrapped up. I've been a huge fan of this series since it started all the way through the Ultimatum storyline. I haven't read as much with it's relaunch a couple years back, but intend to.

The commission was originally just to show Peter Parker changing into Spiderman, it was left to me to decide how much of the transition was done. One thing I liked about the Ult. version was  how often he just had his school backpack on,  and even used his Spidey identity to get to school on time, or leave mid-way through class to get to an emergency. So that's what I was going for here.

The commission ended up taking so long, I wanted to add a bit extra to make up for it and added the villains gallery in the back representing the threads Peter faced throughout the series.

Over all, the long awaited commission was a blast to do and I'm glad for the chance I had to complete it!

IDW Limited Signature series plates - Baroness...

I didn't realize at the time how similar this was to the con sketch I recently posted until after I was posting this. I guess you can just get a pose in your head and not remember if you've done something similar before. But this is a head and torso shot, different gun, etc... So it's different enough I suppose.

I just have a couple more of these left to do, I'll post them as I get them done.

Baroness - 659
