That's true, she's very talented. Out of pure curiosity, however, I'd like to offer (but I have no idea whether this is true or not, simply speculation as she's never stated as such) should JK have felt that she was unable to respectfully communicate the q

That is a fair question. But I think that would reflect rather strangely on her, dozens of hetero relationships but she shies away from even one non-het relationship?

Anyway, that is one of the few theories offered so far that I can KIND of see as an excuse, if I squint real hard. So thank you.

On the other hand, she did just write a research intensive spy techno-thriller, I’m told. If she can research one of the toughest genres going, why couldn’t she research a relationship she herself thought was important?

My stance on the Dumbledore situation: I just can't think of any situations Rowling could have put in where his sexuality was relevant to Harry.

Yes, but it’s not the reader’s job to think of interesting storytelling, it’s the AUTHOR’s job.

And she is one of the most capable authors alive. She’d find a way.

Just think how people are going to react when they find out Mr. Trouncer was gay off panel!

MISTER TROUNCER HAD A SECRET HUSBAND IN METROPOLIS!

Done With The Dumbledore Stuff For Now

It just feels weird, my inbox is full of people saying the same few things over and over:

1) It would make Dumbledore only about being gay (what?)

2) It would be hamfisted (how do we know?)

3) Harry didn’t observe this (he has to watch Dumbledore have sex to know this?)

4) It’s there if you look for it, in the subtext (maybe, but so what?)

5) I JUST THINK IT WOULD BE WEIRD!

None of these are good excuses to me. If they make sense to you, fine, but I don’t want to keep answering them forever.

I think saying he was gay AFTER when she knew all along is a shame. I don’t judge her harshly for her choices, I love the book.

But it would have been nice.

Perhaps I'm misinterpreting YOUR stance based on the stances I've seen from others. But I still don't get how one would make his sexuality relevant in the course of the story, so I'll ask; how would you personally do it?

I wouldn’t even attempt a guess. J.K.R. is a towering genius of fantasy fiction. But I assume she would have handled it with the sure hand she used to do most of her character work.

so i heard that tamora pierce was waaaaaaay excited to work with you on Sonja did you have a similarly excited response to her ?!?!

God yes, Tamora Pierce is a GODDESS in fantasy fiction. I love her, I love her work, I love what she wrote in the White Tiger comic, she’s amazing. She was one of the very first names I called, I was POSITIVE she would be too busy, and she actually came out of comics retirement (she had said she wasn’t going to write any more comics) to do this.

We’re honored to have her.

I fucking love Jeanette. Also, how fucking hilarious is Deadshot calling her “Sweetie-Pie Cookie-Puss?”

I love her, too…and I love that she is one of the few things on Earth that actually scares Deadshot.

But he can’t stop from having sex with her constantly.

Hello Miss. Simone I loved the Mirror so I was wondering what inspire you to create this villain?

I wanted Barbara to face a villain who was just a bruiser, a hardcore guy with high end espionage skills and a fist that’ll crack a skull.

In the right light, Mirror isn’t THAT different from someone like, say, the Punisher, a brutal guy who deals out his idea of justice, even if it kills people.

Barbara is the opposite of that. And being in a slightly shaky, slightly vulnerable position, I wanted her to have an opponent of ABSOLUTELY CERTITUDE in his actions.

So she had to rally herself to fight him. Remember, she’d been out of the game for three years. This was almost like her first case!
