Maybe the students could first vote to have the professor examined by the university, and if they find that the professor indeed is not doing their job well enough, that could lead to a hearing. I think it could be a really good idea if one controls for st
I really have done no research on this topic, all I know about it is what the random guy said.
There should always be a route to accountability. But we see that it’s not hard to mobilize a group for purely political reasons and that seems a bad idea to add to the professor/student relationship.
But I am essentially speaking with NO information so I am going to stop until I know more.
I personally think having students vote on professors to fire is a good idea. We have teachers here who literally cannot teach. And its bad. College wise at least, students shoukd be able to help decide which teachers they pay for.
Sure, but what happens if, say, a bunch of students don’t like a professor’s politics?
I don’t know a thing about this law. But I would certainly be concerned about organized political backlash damaging qualified professors.

Dear dccomics when am I getting Tremor back?!...

Dear dccomics when am I getting Tremor back?! Or any other asexual character that proves you do not have to be driven by sexual drives in off hours to kick butt?
DANG IT NOW I MISS TREMOR.
One thing I am not sure if I ever revealed. I did speak with several women about both the sexuality and ethnicity of the character. Like a lot of people, I didn’t know much about the RANGE of what identifying as Ace meant. When you are on the outside looking in, it’s easy to have a bunch of assumptions and of course, the reality is a thousand times more complex.
I also had no idea how MANY readers identified as Ace, and it helped me understand the various conditions, and how romance and sexuality and attraction and all those things are dials with different level numbers. As always, the readers were tremendously generous and I owe them so much. The idea of asexual characters hasn’t really seemed to permeate the mainstream, and when it does, it is often with a lot of ugly cliches. So I was always happy that Tremor was content and happy and well-adjusted, and had the most dedicated conscience in the Movement.
Anyway, one of the interesting things was, I specifically wanted Tremor to be Bengali, and after speaking with several women about what that would mean, I got an offer from a MARVEL editor (this was when I was a DC exclusive), that his wife was Bengali and she would be delighted to help me make Tremor’s backstory authentic.
I just always thought that was a lovely gesture. Some of the things in Tremor’s story came right from her real life, and she was married to someone working at the ‘competition,’ but it was important to her to have (hopefully!) an accurate and decent portrayal of a Bengali woman. I thought it was a nice example of showing that there are more important things than who works at what company. If you like Tremor, she was a big part of that.
There are some who take the competition thing really seriously, but most of us are always willing to help out someone if we can, and that’s always struck me as a very cool thing about comics.
I hope Tremor comes back soon!
Have you ever had someone come up to you and try to commission a poem or a one minute story or something like that? Im just curious if writers also encounter that sort of thing.
Oh, absolutely. People ask me to write something in their sketch book, or several times I have been asked to write a proposal for a guy to ask a girl to marry him on her favorite comic, or things of that nature. Not commissions, just things in line. And I get asked for sketches a lot but I can’t draw a lick.
The state of Iowa just proposed a bill to have STUDENTS VOTE on which professors to fire. Why do we value education so little in this country?
Ew!
What is the reasoning for this idea?

Swinging the Swords of Sorrow with Erica...

Swinging the Swords of Sorrow with Erica Schultz http://www.comicosity.com/interview-swinging-the-swords-of-sorrow-with-erica-schultz/
In just two weeks Gail Simone’s pulp crossover will hit stores. I got a chance to interview tie-in writer Erica Schultz about penning ladies with cunning fighting skills.
Great interview!
Who All Is Going To C2E2?
Some of my favorite folks go there almost every year.
Who from here will be there?
Yikes
I never get tongue-tied around the usual people, actors or politicians or people like that. I don’t usually get star-struck.
But I just had a little conversation with Margaret Atwood on Twitter about Batwoman and Batgirl and I honestly started shaking. I was terrified of saying something ridiculous just out of starpower panic.
I LOVE Margaret Atwood. She has blown my mind out the back of my head so many times I can’t even count.
And she was asking about Batwoman and Batgirl.
OH MY GOD.
Anyway, I know the great Kelly Sue got her for an article for Bitch Planet, which is amazing. I don’t know that I could handle that. Even tweeting with her for a moment felt like flying too close to the sun. :)
So happy to hear you're coming to Shanghai! If I may ask, will you have panels on a specific day? The weekend passes have already sold out and I would hate to miss you by purchasing the wrong day pass. Thank you!
Uh oh!
I’m not sure, I was only told I would be doing a 45 minute panel, but not which day. I will let you know as soon as I can!
What other part(s) of China have you been to?
Lantau Island, the New Territories, Beijing, Hong Kong, and some bits around Beijing. It’s my favorite country to visit in the world and I don’t know nearly enough about it.
Every time we go, we can’t believe how kind the people are.
