As much fun as I have with the new Batgirl...

As much fun as I have with the new Batgirl comics, my heart is dedicated to Gail Simone’s initial run, and her version of Barbara Gordon will always be the superhero I would wish to be. Gail brought us the FIRST EVER ongoing Barbara Gordon Batgirl series, and I think that deserves a special place in the long standing history of this character’s life. Like Wonder Woman, Red Sonja, or the Birds of Prey, Gail has left a mark on Batgirl forever, and will always be mentioned by future generations as one of the defining moment’s of this character’s long and eventful history.

But thank you for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed both versions!

Dear dccomics when...

Dear dccomics when am I getting Tremor back?! Or any other asexual character that proves you do not have to be driven by sexual drives in off hours to kick butt?
DANG IT NOW I MISS TREMOR.
One thing I am not sure if I ever revealed. I did speak with several women about both the sexuality and ethnicity of the character. Like a lot of people, I didn’t know much about the RANGE of what identifying as Ace meant. When you are on the outside looking in, it’s easy to have a bunch of assumptions and of course, the reality is a thousand times more complex.
I also had no idea how MANY readers identified as Ace, and it helped me understand the various conditions, and how romance and sexuality and attraction and all those things are dials with different level numbers. As always, the readers were tremendously generous and I owe them so much. The idea of asexual characters hasn’t really seemed to permeate the mainstream, and when it does, it is often with a lot of ugly cliches. So I was always happy that Tremor was content and happy and well-adjusted, and had the most dedicated conscience in the Movement.
Anyway, one of the interesting things was, I specifically wanted Tremor to be Bengali, and after speaking with several women about what that would mean, I got an offer from a MARVEL editor (this was when I was a DC exclusive), that his wife was Bengali and she would be delighted to help me make Tremor’s backstory authentic.
I just always thought that was a lovely gesture. Some of the things in Tremor’s story came right from her real life, and she was married to someone working at the ‘competition,’ but it was important to her to have (hopefully!) an accurate and decent portrayal of a Bengali woman. I thought it was a nice example of showing that there are more important things than who works at what company. If you like Tremor, she was a big part of that.
There are some who take the competition thing really seriously, but most of us are always willing to help out someone if we can, and that’s always struck me as a very cool thing about comics.
I hope Tremor comes back soon!
The TL:DR on this, for me, is that Tremor in The Movement helped me come to terms with my own identity. I didn’t know there was a simple word to help explain how I’m romantically, but not sexually, attracted to women. Tremor told Mouse, a fellow hero with a crush on her, that she is Asexual. I went hubba-what?, looked into it, and finally felt like i knew who I was.
So, yeah, more Tremor in the DC universe, please.
Wow. Well, just wow.
That is astounding. I am so glad Tremor was there for you like that!

got it? good.
No I don’t got it
Bisexuality is not half gay and half straight. Bisexuality is not in between gay and straight. Bisexuality is not gay when dating the same gender and straight when dating a different gender. Bisexuality is not gay-ish or straight-ish.
Bisexuality is its own fully independent self-contained complete orientation. It is its own flavor, not a patchwork of others.
Now do you get it?
Had to reblog this twice because it’s so important.
Also, it doesn’t go away just because you found a life partner and marry them!
I am no less bisexual as a woman married to a man than I would be gay if I was a woman married to a woman. Bi is bi. Period.
Yes

Maybe the students could first vote to have the professor examined by the university, and if they find that the professor indeed is not doing their job well enough, that could lead to a hearing. I think it could be a really good idea if one controls for st
I really have done no research on this topic, all I know about it is what the random guy said.
There should always be a route to accountability. But we see that it’s not hard to mobilize a group for purely political reasons and that seems a bad idea to add to the professor/student relationship.
But I am essentially speaking with NO information so I am going to stop until I know more.
