NaNo Decision: This Time I Mean It

So after a couple months of trying to decide–in my off moments that should have been spent on all my deadline-y stuff–what to do for NaNo, I had decided to write the third in my epic trilogy of magic, gay and win, Hiro's Quest (yes, it'll be renamed.) I really want to write it, you see. The first two books are amazing and I want to know how it ends!

Only that's a problem. I don't know how it ends. Not knowing where I'm going on a story is a lot of fun, and not something that makes me avoid...

For the Record

It is terribly hard to write when friend is stalking the child and both are highly amused and giggling and occasionally screaming laughter. But they are enjoying themselves, so it's also hard to resent it. ^_^

I will get done, though. I must get done, therefore I will!

Onward.

Story Done!

Okay, so I finagled a bit and other bits have some pretty shoddy story-telling going on, but it's okay. It's a first draft–it's supposed to be crap. What matters is that it's done. Now I can improve it!

Well, not now. Tomorrow. I hope. Friday and Saturday are taken, and I expect to be exhausted Sunday and there's also grocery shopping, and the story is due October 3rd.

None of that matters, though. I am done, and I have time to edit, and I love this story. :)

Bacon Jam: It Exists!

Today I went to a farmer's market. I've been meaning to go for a while, but never made it. (That thing with getting up and moving on a weekend morning may or may not have something to do with it.) Today, though, my friend picked up roomie, me, and the kid, and we went.

But what about my decision to spend less money? Well, I still have to buy food…but there's more to it than that.

I decided last night (while pining for the fjords and with the help of a dear friend) that I don't want to live the ...

Keep Your Eye on the Prize

The problem with that is, of course, that you get to yearning so much you want to cry. Or at least, I do.

I've decided I don't want to just make a bucket list of interesting places to get to someday–I want to see everything. And I want to live in different places. Preferably without job-hunting. So I'm plotting how I'm going to uproot. I need to prepare first, though I'd rather just run off. Need to lay a financial foundation (buy my books! Tell your friends!), need to get healthy, need to...

The Germs are Winning

My roomie has been coping with a cold for a week. My kid brought it home from school and infected her. Kid was sick for a day, then seemed to recover. Roomie has been suffering.

Last night the kid was feeling sick again. She asked why the cold wouldn't just go away. I pointed at our miserable roomie and said "karma."

Tonight I have a headache, and keep having to blow my nose.

I didn't do anything to attract karma-germs!

I Don't Wanna

I don't even know what I dunwanna do. Anything, I guess. It's Sunday afternoon and I dunwanna do nothing.

Oh flippin' well. I have a list and I will get through it as best I can. Just as soon as I can drag my head out of the fog of not-caring.

It's times like these I discover I actually have developed some self-discipline over the years (remembering that yes, self-discipline is remembering what you really want.) Even my 750 words this morning had to be dragged out one by one, but I did them. I ...

Stealing Words and Posting Smut

My friend's fanfic A Shadow of What Was (Bleach fandom, yaoi pairings, SMUT warning) is 94 chapters long. She's been working on it for years. She has over five hundred reviews and a 5-star rating.

Her story has been stolen. Some…person is posting it on fanfiction.net under her own name. Despite the fact she wrote not a word of it. Despite the fact that fanfiction.net does not allow stories of an explicit nature, and ASoWW most definitely is such a story.

The theft has been reported to the...

From the Files of Random and Win

First, search terms I am delighted led persons to my blog:

Mayan Shaolin Monk

semi naked cowboys

Welcome, o persons of inquiring mind!

Second: I was looking for something today, and conditions being favorable (meaning I didn't have too much stuff piled in front of my file cabinet) the search led into my files which were a mess. They are somewhat less messy now (no, I didn't find it) and also about six hundred pieces of paper lighter.

Gems found in my search:

"Now that I have my pen put back...

My 750 Words

I wanted to put up a blog post, but my brain has gone walkabout. Or perhaps it has been taken by zombies. So here's my 750 words from this week Monday, minus a few I didn't want to share with the internet. I thought it was a fun read anyway. ;)

Happy Monday. Stupid cat. *pokes him* He knocked my water bottle and timer and glasses off my bedstand. Stupid beast. (Well, not stupid, as he wanted me to get up and I did. I still didn't feed him, which was his ultimate goal. I let Hope do it in hopes...
