My Muses Are A-Bubblin'

I used to complain about ADD muses. I still do, when I'm neck deep in edits and my guys want to go work on something(s) , anything(s) else. They used to be a lot worse, though. When I started writing way back when, one reason I never finished anything was the way new ideas came bobbing along, one after another until I could no longer resist chasing after the new shiny.

The past few years haven't been like that. Sometimes I'd worry the idea well had dried up. Often the ADD muses didn't have...

Tired but Inspired

I've been wandering through some old stuff while I work on the new site (going up soon, to replace the old kdsarge.com! Same bat time, same bat channel! Whoo!) (uh, sorry.)

Anyway. Old stuff. Mostly still viable. I just have to have the time to turn it into the epic I know it can be–but in my head, it's already epic. So I can get sucked in where no one else could.

I really gotta find the time to get more writing done.

Grinchity Grinch Grinch

What is it about this season that makes me want to whack things/people with cod?

Anyway. Have a merry, and may your holiday, whatever you celebrate, be bright.

Firestorm

Cover of Firestorm, mystery by Nevada BarrI don't read nearly as much as I used to–not fiction, anyway. I work full-time, I'm a single mom, I'm a writer. I like sleep. That doesn't leave much time for reading.

A smart girl, as I like to think I am, will make sure what time she has counts. I read a lot of nonfiction, studying up on how the world works to put that in my novels. I read a lot of books about writing, because I never want to stop learning.

And I read really good books that take me far from my cozy bed/dull waiting room/five ...

And I Think to Myself…

Today I'm pondering a site redesign. Not of the blog (probably) because I like it lots, but kdsarge.com could use a makeover. And since it's time for a major CMS upgrade anyway, it's gonna get it. This also means a new template, so my lovely parchment will be going away, sigh.

Last night I drew up a site map and considered what should be on the site and where it should go. Today I made a Scrivener project to get the text in place, so the update should (one hopes!) be both swift and painless...

Mutant Germs

Last week at the school band concert, my kid shared her hot cocoa with a friend, then apologized. She had a cold.

No worries, friend said. He did too.

She didn't tell me this till after I had some of the cocoa. I've spent the last week trying to fight it off, but I think I've lost the battle.

Hopefully I'll survive. And maybe attain enough brain to work on the smut I've been trying to finish for days.

It's pretty hot, IMHO. ^____^

Let It Rain

It's raining. Has been all day. And a lot of yesterday. It's hard for me to do anything at all.

I love rain. I miss it. I grew up in Pennsylvania, in a place where, according to my 8th grade science teacher, some form of precipitation fell from the sky three hundred days a year. Now I'm in Tucson, and while I don't know the number, I know it happens a lot less.

If it's raining when I get up, it's so hard for me to do anything more than go and get a cup of coffee and curl up in a corner. I want ...

"No One Did Anything" Including You

I am so tired of hearing it passed around how this kid was bullied at school, that kid was harassed in class, and "no one did anything."

Now, if you've lost a loved one due to this horror–you go right ahead. You blame me, them, God, everybody. I am so sorry for your loss and I'll take your anger because by God that should not have happened. Someone should have helped enough!

But if you're one of those who roams the internet wailing about how schools and teachers don't care and that's the...

I'm Redoing My Site

Which would you rather look at? Explain your reasons. (yes, it's a test. >_> ) (not really)

Mainly, I want a site that looks professional, but still has fun. Y'know?

ReadMax              AllRounder                LightBreeze                   Galaxy

This is for the main site, not the blog, but I would change the blog to complement the template. So whattaya think?

The Dangers of Words with Friends

Well, first–it's addictive. Oh yes. I can play Scrabble all night every night with a bunch of different people! It's amazing!

Uhh…except that's not really a good use of my time. Oops.

Interesting, though…last night I was thinking that my writing plays against me in some ways. True, as a constant user of language, I know a lot of words, but often without thinking, I dismiss a word as too archaic to use. The goal of my books is to tell stories, after all. If I send readers running to the...
