And writing isn't just putting words down -- there's lots of other parts to it, so even when you're not writing, you're usually writing, if you know what I mean.

Sometimes you do need a break, and that's fine. But the next day, get your ass back in the chair. (less)

The writers generally work with the editor at the publishing house. The editor is the one who works with the licensor. In the case of LEVERAGE, it was with EE, and I believe that John Rogers his own self did the approvals (I know that he gave feedback on the outlines). That isn't always the case, mind you, but there's always SOMEONE at the company who owns the property who approves the material on behalf of that company.

“Dad had this story. A Marine and a Navy guy walk into a bathroom together. They both take a piss, and then sailor goes to the sink. The Marine heads for the door, and the sailor says, "Hey- in the Navy they teach us to wash up after we take a leak." And the Marine turns around and says, "Yeah? Well, in the Marines they teach us not to piss on our hands.”
