The Dogs of Winter

The Dogs of Winter

Descend into

Silky thought,

Draped in black shrouds,

Into the pit of disillusion

Such an ugly person

you

Belching so fine

Tripping so awkward

Talking so violent

Freckled leaves blow by

Forming sleepy stacks

-your embarrassing thoughts

Worthless ideas, black with mildew

Unmask!

Fill the room with your glory

And move the starving, wasted masses aside!

You must preside!

Eyes sparkling with lusty fire

Hands shaking with excitement

Golden sweat beading on you face

Expose yourself to this dreary plac...

My dissertation on PTSD and the family

It’s been a while since I last blogged. Been busy scrambling to finish the rough draft of the last chapter of my dissertation. I finally did it! I emailed to my mentor this morning.

I may actually finish my PhD after all! So I am pretty pumped up about that and getting back to writing fiction!

That is a photo of me in 1990, deployed on the other side of the world away from my family…

The title and abstract (unedited)

THE EXPERIENCE OF GROWING UP IN A FAMILY IN WHICH A PARENT HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED W...

What the world needs

First.. Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is getting to enjoy time with their families and sharing lots of happy times together.

I need to voice my opinion as there is so much suffering and sadness this holiday season.

Everyone is screaming about gun control, violent video games, and mental health to explain why our world is filled with so much tragedy…but most people that own guns, play violent video games, or have mental health problems are not violent and never will be.

Focusing of those issu...

The Next Big Thing

Okay I guess it’s my turn. All the cool people are doing it. My thanks to Leigh M. Lane, one of my absolute favorite writers, for inviting me to be a part of this week’s Next Big Thing blog posting group. The Next Big Thing is a meme trickling through author blogs of numerous genres, with each participant answering the same questions about either a work in progress or a work currently being marketed. Each author then chooses five other authors to keep the chain going. The all revealing questi...

Coming January 2013 to a Kindle near you… THE SIRE by M.S. Fowle

Summary:

“Enter a realm of magick mirroring that of Europe in the late 1930s, one illustrating persecution under an authoritarian regime, a girl’s struggle to see beyond prejudice, and a boy’s lack of faith in humanity.

The era jives with jazz and swing, while giant boats sail the sky, and war divides a great land as its king hunts down any with the gifts of magick, the Mages.

The First Snow

The magical first snow of the season has finally begun. White streaks are falling from the gray night sky, glistening in the glow of the street lights. The hazy, dream-like air. Christmas decorations look better with a backdrop of snow.

It’s been about 280 days since it snowed last. A new record. A record that dates back to the 1880s.

I doubt we are going to get buried in the stuff or even have enough to shovel in the morning. Maybe we will. You never know with snow. I can remember having snow...
