Well its been forever since i blogged. I guess i blame Angry Birds. Cant stop playing that game!

I haven't done much writing but I have been revising and editing. I had some really good suggestions from another blogger By rhe Twitter handle @CreepyWalker you should follow her. I will add her to my blogroll.

I have two WIPs right now. one is The Second Chimney and its about at 50 pages or so. The other WIP is a horror scifi type book and is really only a couple of paragraphs and lots of...

Major revision

Well I know its been ages since I last posted on my blog. I haven't really thought of anything interesting to blog about but I have been busy with my novel.

I learned a lot when I puublished my first novel. I wrote it in 30 days for NaNoWriMo contest. Then I took about 45 days to edit it. Then I published it. I had no clue what I was doing. I have been getting several reviews and lots of downloads. The reviews are all encouraging. I have had a couple people email me their review...

Book descriptions

I get lots of views to my book and short stories but people only seem to pull the trigger on the free ones. I thought I would put the descriptions that I currently have on Smashwords and see what you think about them…looking for advice on how to improve them and fill them with juicy hooks!

So here they are:

1. Book description

Is it post traumatic stress or paranormal terror?

It started one evening in a quiet neighborhood in Iowa with five year old Liam Randolf playing with his best friend in...

I wrote it 20 years ago in high school and decided to rewrite it and edit to get it out there…its in the Smashwords queue right now! Its going to be free so I hope you check it out and let me know what you think…here is the opening paragraph:

Johnny Reddman quickly charged over a grassy land and thrust his sword into the gut of his best friend: Billy Japson. Billy screamed and fell to the ground, barely holding in his ...

My interview by by C.C.Cole about "Fall Leaves and the Black Dragon" April 1, 2011

Interview with Erik Gustafson, author of "Fall Leaves and the Black Dragon" April 1, 2011 by C.C.Cole

Erik Gustafason's above book was reviewed my me and I found it a very compelling story about a boy growing up to become a young man, and past incidents grow from disturbing paranormal flashbacks into the harsh world of reality.

C.C.: Is this your first novel? Have you published other works, such as short stories? Are you traditional or self-published? What was your experience in the...

Sample Sunday: the first page

Ok the first page of any book is pretty darn important. Hopefully there is a hook in there somewhere to keep the reader wanting more…since it is Sample Sunday, here is a sampling of page one of my novel The Second Chimney. Love to hear what you think! Thanks for reading!

He knew no one would call, no one would come over and worse still no one would remember but Lukas Simmons secretly loved his birthday anyway. He would go to Applebee's alone just like he had done for the majority of his...

World Poetry Day

A Minute in the Life of a Boy

A scrawny blond boy running
Bent over a sidewalk with
A Matchbox car between his legs
Flying like superman
Toward a forest of trees waving at him
Little, bony arms reaching into a tree
Pulling himself up, higher and higher
Stepping on branch after branch
Blue eyes marveling at the view
>From the homemade tree house,
A mile high fortress defended by dwarves
Out the loose trap-door hidden in the back,
Leaping to the thick, twisted Swinging Branch,
Dangling, stretched out like a ...

The Second Chimney

Well I spent most of the afternoon repairing the kitchen ceiling. We woke the other morning to the sound of running water and found the upstairs bathroom had sprung a leak somewhere and the water was escaping to the kitchen. Drywall is pretty easy and something even I can manage.

I have been getting pretty pumped up about my second novel, The Second Chimney! I finished the outline a few days ago after a long dry spell. The ending came to me one afternoon in while I was staring at my messy g...
