Silent House review

I have been seeing commercials for the past several weeks and couldn't resist going to check Silent House out today. Apparently I was pretty much alone in desire as there were only 6 other people in the theater with me. Good thing about that is I had plenty of room to spread out and arrange my over-priced popcorn and pop.
The premise of the movie is this movie is up at her house from childhood with her father and uncle. They are clearing it out and getting ready to put it up on the...

The Fuse #fridayflash #horror
THE FUSE
By
Erik Gustafson
A long tightly twisted straw-like string curved around the living room floor like a forgotten vacuum cleaner cord. One end of the cord dangled from the gloved hand of a man dressed entirely in black. His other hand held a silver Zippo. With a click, the lighter blazed to life and he held it under the cord.
The fuse ignited and sparked.
The man let it drop to the floor.
"Later," he said and sprinted out of the room.
The burning progressed slowly, with a dreadful...

Censorship alert!
In the past for days or so, there has been a lot of discussion about Paypal and their decision to censor writers…this attack is specifically aimed at people that write about rape, bestiality and incest. At first, I thought, those are all deplorable subjects and I couldn't see why people would write fiction about those topics, or how there could be readers interested in those topics….however, it took awhile to sink in and why I don't agree that those topics have a place in fiction, it is not ...

Ginger's Marble (A #zombie short!)
The big day has finally come! My latest short story has been through the grind stone a few times and it is ready to be released onto the world…
The family that feeds together strays together. It's about family. It's about zombies. It's about Ginger.
I am happy to say that this short story was selected as a finalist in a fiction contest by Brains magazine!
Here is the part I am most proud of (and I could be wrong!): Ginger is the most unique zombie I have ever encountered, at least as in what h...

More Ghost Hunting
Hope everyone is doing well and making progress on making your dreams come true!
Well I took the Ghost Radar down to my parents house to compare notes and see if the app gave the same types of readings as they do in my house.
My house:
I have had several readings of energy forms in my house of the past few days. Two or three 'unexplained' readings in the living room, the garage, and surprisingly none in the basement. There is a room in the basement that the cat always runs into and gets on...

Ghost radar!
I know its been a long while since I posted on my blog and I have no excuse other than life has been busy. Working full-time plus teaching two psych classes this semester. So work keeps me hopping. I am still writing in my free time, mostly at night.
I wanted to talk about ghosts tonight while my spaghetti is cooking.
I don't know about you, but I love ghost hunting! I found a neat app for my Kindle Fire today called Ghost Radar that claims to assist in my search. It was free, so I...

Dreams and ideas
I have been struggling to come up with fresh and new ideas to write about. I don't want to be the writer who does remakes. The movie industry is bad enough.
So I am trying to find new ways of generating ideas. Scary ones. There has to be unique ways to weave a tale. Ideas are one of those tricky things that if you make a conscious effort to come up with ideas, they don't seem to want to surface.
Ideas just happen.
They are magic little creatures that nibble at your ankles. A new idea...

Flash Fiction! Demonic offices supplies! Beware!
Here is something different, I hope. Its a fun, whimsical horror short about demonic office supplies. Its probably not flash fiction since its 1600 words but what the hell. I'll call it what I want. Hope you enjoy it!
The Other Side of all that Stands
The bedroom door opened and I cringed. Jerry walked in and threw his dirty backpack on the bed. He looked around- looked right at me even, as he sat at his desk, and like always, flicked on his computer and started his endless ritual of key ...
