Sneak Peak: Robert DeCoteau

Robert DeCoteau writes about zombies and man he does a great job! I have read most of his "Zombie Tales: Primrose Court" series and I am hooked. What follows is an juicy, generous peak at his novel "Don of the Living Dead" So without further ado…lock your doors and enjoy this sample! After you are done, click on the cover to go purchase it!

"My attempt with this title was to put the fun back into the zombie genre. George A. Romero, the founding father of the modern zombie, always seemed...

FridayFlash The Stuffed Prize

This week I took a step outside of my horror box and wrote a true story about a happy childhood memory..

My Happiest Elementary School Memory

I remember one thing about grade school above all other events and people. This memory even trumped the crush I had on my fourth grade teacher. I don't remember her name but I made sure that I'd get into trouble a little often so I would have to stay after school to write some sentence of repentance on a dusty chalkboard fifty times. All the while...

Flash Friday: The Kidnapping

The Kidnapping

I woke to a burning pain in my arm. My forearm was bright red by then and scored with dozens of white lines from my fingernails. There were spots of blood on my arm that resembled a grisly dot-to-dot puzzle. My arm was throbbing and itching.

What happened?

Idly scratching, I scanned the room. A dull yellow glow from a single bulb hanging from an unfinished ceiling was the only light. Thick shadows hunkered down in the corners like silent guardians. I was in a bedroom in a b...

Trick or Treat Blog Adventure

Greetings Trick or Treaters please come in and find stump around the campfire to sit down on. We might cook S'mores later for those who survive the evening. Don't mind the bones, some folks stay a real long time…

The theme for my Halloween blog is frightening memories. Everyone has them. Some may have suppressed them or refuse to talk about them but everyone has at least one good creepy story, just like every lake has at least one huge fish lurking in the murky waters. I want to hear...

Bat Hunting and Coffin Hop

Have you ever seen a bat in your house? What better time than Halloween to discuss bat hunting. Ok so its not as glamorous as being a vampire hunter like Buffy but there are a lot similarities. At times, it can be just as unnerving. It also takes bravery to hunt bats. And weapons.

My home was built in 1913 and when I moved into a few years ago, we had a bat problem. This was not disclosed by the previous owners. I think that little morsel of knowledge should be shared at the negation...

Coffin Hop is here!

The lightening machine is going. The fog machine is in full gear. The porch is alive with trick or treaters!! I'm so glad you stopped by for a treat…my pulse is quickening…I almost forgot, I have a huge pumpkin sitting on my porch that I have yet to carve up. Every time I pick up the carving knife I start daydreaming about…stuff. So I force myself to put the knife down.

I hope the floating hand by the candy bowl doesn't freak you out too much.

First, let me tell you a couple cool facts...

Flash Friday: Ginger's Marble

Ginger's Marble by Erik Gustafson

Ginger is a tomboy and her favorite thing to do is climb trees. Her golden blond hair is always in pigtails and she dresses in jeans and t-shirt most days. The eight year old wouldn't stand for the cute dresses all her other friends wore. In fact, she preferred to play with boys but her parents steered her toward girls her age whenever they could.
There are two large apple trees in her backyard and she has climbed them both a thousand times.
All she has...
