A Golden Invitation

A Golden Invitation

We are a week away from the release of our 6th children’s book. This is something that I am immenselyproud of. Jaime Johnesee is the author of The Golden Storybook and she wrote it originally for her children. and is a fun tale that I think all young children will enjoy. It follows the adventure that brothers,Declan The Brave, Flip The Furry, and Keegan The Wise embark on when they hear of a magic book that holds all the stories that have ever been told… and some stories th...

Writing again!

Been several weeks since I wrote much of anything. Don’t know why…been thinking about it all the time. Churning ideas, that sort of thing. Finally, the other day I mapped out a short one-page outline of book 2 of my Carousel series.

The first book, The Carousel in the Sky is in the hands of beta readers now…the second is tentatively called The Carousel Wars. They are both the stuff of dark fantasy. Very imaginative, I think anyway.

I penned out two pages today. Not much, I know. A beginning. I...

The Chant of the Storm

Digging around my computer and ran across this old poem from 1989…penned during that time between high school and becoming an adult.

The Chant of the Storm

Image

I have been unleashed,

To my cage

I have been banished by those

who support me

I am the path with no destiny,

I am the riddle with no words

I learn from the mistakes

that I do not make

I take from that which is empty

and give to nothing

I am nothing

I climb great altitudes

and find the bottom

There is great fear of me

And the world laughs at me

I am fertil...

2013 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,400 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 23 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the complete report.

Christmas time and writing

20131209-171644.jpg

The weather here in Iowa has has turned. The mild fall vanished like a dark shadow in the corner of the bedroom. Snow is everywhere and the temperatures are in the single digits, some mornings the reading even has a minus sign next to the number. Not fun

What is fun are the lights and the decorations.

I have been busy with my dissertation. I can happily say after TONS of research and editing, it has been approved by my committee and the school now. It’s on the verge of publishing. The long camp...

When Angels Fall by Lachelle Redd

Looking for your next read? Give this a shot!

When Angels Fall

20131119-210702.jpg

Pondering his tedious existence, the demon breathed a heavy sigh. A fresh soul would arrive soon and his chamber of pain would come alive again. The raven, mail carrier of hell, squawked his landing on a wrought iron perch. The tormentor, aware there was fresh meat, gazed into the bird’s cold, black eyes studying the victim’s soul. A young male seated at a large oak desk was in the throes of committing suicide. Too much money, power...

The Carousel in the Sky

My third novel is nearly done. Will probably not really. But I have written it and gone through it three times. It’s in the hands of beta readers now…

I had a dream a while back of a carousel that revolved around the roof of a mansion. It was like a crown. Except the carousel was something more. Something more than brightly painted wooden animals and a blaring band organ. Something more Sinsiter. The carny that took the tickets and rewound the music reels was a huge man wearing a black duster...
