Interview with Lucy Felthouse
I'm so excited to have one of my very favorite authors, Lucy Felthouse, here today talking with me about writing and editing and her super-hot anthology Uniform Behavior!
LisaFox: Tell us about you. Who is Lucy Felthouse?
LucyFelthouse: I'm a graduate of the University of Derby, which is where I discovered my knack for writing erotica. I was dared to write an erotic story, so I did. It went down a storm and I've never looked back. I've now been published by Cleis Press, Ravenous Romance, Xcite Books and several magazines and websites.
LF: Uniform Behavior features sixteen (!!) steamy stories all about sexy men in various uniforms. That's a whole lot of bedtime reading material. What inspired you to create it?
LucyF: I've always had a bit of a thing for men in uniform, and I wanted to edit an anthology. So I decided to go with a theme that I enjoy, and the rest is history!
LF: And not only is it superhot for these cold winter nights but it a portion of the proceeds go to Help for Heroes. How did you come across this charity? Are you actively involved with them? Why did you choose them?
LucyF: Help for Heroes is a very widely publicized charity in the UK. They do great work for returning servicemen and women who've been injured in battle. I've donated to the charity before, but hadn't done anything to fundraise for them. I thought I'd go with something a bit different! I chose them because they do fabulous work; but also because I have close friends in the British Army and I know what they sacrifice for us. This is my way of giving something back.
LF: This is your first time editing an anthology. What was the best part? What was the worst?
LucyF: That's easy. The best parts (sorry, I have to say two!) were sending out acceptances and seeing the finished thing available for sale. The worst part was sending out rejection emails.
LF: As an editor, what made a story "good" for you? What elements did you really want to have?
LucyF: For me, it was key that the uniform was an integral part of each story, which is why I chose the stories I did. Also, they had to be super-duper hot!
LF: The hero is so important. Who is your ideal hero? What traits are must haves?
LucyF: I don't have one single hero. I tend to create characters dependent on what part they have to play in a particular story. Naturally, since it's fiction and I'm allowed, they must all be gorgeous and brilliant in the bedroom!
LF: Any new projects in the works? What are you working on now?
LucyF: At the moment I'm working on lots of different calls for submissions, as well as promoting Uniform Behaviour.
LF: How can people find you online?
LucyF: My own personal website can be found at http://lucyfelthouse.co.uk. On there you'll find links to my Twitter and Facebook pages, so please come say hello! I also run Erotica For All, a site for readers and writers of erotica, which you can find at http://eroticaforall.co.uk. Hopefully see you there!

Zach felt good. He had Phoebe by his side and the day was beautiful and the road was open and they had a great talk. A really wonderful and good and fulfilling talk and he sincerely felt that they had worked everything out between them and they could go confidently and blissfully forward and that there was no more concern about Nick Castle or Lela or any of that bullshit because he and Phoebe were strong and committed and in love.
He knew that he was kidding himself.
He glanced over at Phoebe and saw that she still had that dazed, faraway look on her face. He idly wondered if she would start drooling on herself and what he would do about it if she did. He knew she hadn't heard a word he had said, hell, she hadn't even made the slightest effort to contribute to the conversation. And all this stupidly was her fault. Her fault and she didn't even…
Zach forced himself to stop and took a deep breath. Playing the blame game wasn't going to get him anywhere. Besides, when he really thought about it, it wasn't Phoebe's fault at all.
It was his.
Maybe he hadn't paid enough attention to her. Hadn't given her what she needed. He knew that she needed lots and lots of attention, a constant, captive, captivated audience and he tried, he really did, but something she was just so…
No, he was not going to go down that path.
He just needed some way to get through to her, some way to make her understand.
She muttered something under her breath, something he couldn't quite understand and he frowned. Something about panties? "What?" he asked, not even sure what kind of response he was hoping for. Any would do at this point, he decided and the thought made him sad.
"Nothing baby," she said, patting his thigh. "I was just agreeing with you."
Zach clenched his jaw, biting back the cutting reply that instantly came to mind. He just couldn't say something like that to her, couldn't bear the thought of hurting her in any way. His parents hurt each other intentionally all the time and he did not want that for himself. Or for her. So, he swore when they first started seeing one another he would treat her right, treat her good, treat her the way she deserved to be treated and he wasn't going to break that promise now. No, he was just mad and he needed to get over that so that they could move on.
But she made it so damn hard sometimes.
An idea came to him then, a place where he could take her so that they could really talk. One of his most favorite places. A quiet, peaceful place.
Smiling to himself, he shifted gears and sped off down the Valley road.

Six Sentence Sunday
I meant to work on my Sky Pirate story while I was off for the holidays, but this little vampire quickie came up and just refused to be pushed aside. I love/hate when that happens, don't you?
Anyway, here are the very first sentences (for now) from the tentatively titled, Midnight Train to Chicago.
Cassie chose a window seat on the overnight train to Chicago and watched the place that she had called home for the last five years slip away behind her. Miles of cityscape rolled past the window, tightly packed shopping districts giving way to residential areas, which were in turn replaced by fields and soon she was looking out at horses and cows and crops. She knew she probably should have felt a twinge of something bittersweet or maybe nostalgic, but all she felt was pure, unadulterated joy. She was free. Completely, utterly free.
(Okay, so the picture's not totally in line with the scene, but he's holding on to a train. It counts!)
Check out all the exciting excerpts this week on the OFFICIAL SITE.

From the Vault of Goddess Karen
So, the Goddess is having a day.
I can't find the match to my set of PVC elbow length gloves. The wires to my Rimba tens kit are stripped, preventing me from using it to deliver delightful mini-shocks to my test subjects via those tantalizing control buttons. My fishnet tights are tangled & I need "C" batteries for…well, some light up vibrating toy that brings the Goddess much pleasure in the absence of a partner.
Happy New Year to me.
Let me dwell on brighter times. I forgot to ask Santa for a buttplug 2 inches longer than the one I already possess but that isn't anyone's fault except my own. The holidays can be SO hectic. So yes, brighter times…
There have been a few questions from my readers about my first experience dominating someone. Since it's the first month of the year I find it only fitting that we recount not only that, but other firsts in the Goddess's Life.
First S&M toy purchased: oblong black leather paddle with MISTRESS imbedded in studs across it.
First corset: procured from Purple Passion in NYC. Black, with laces—no zipper, I'm a purist.
First S&M related theft: from former porn star-turned-domina Porsche Lynn's show at the Vault in NYC. I took that bitch's riding crop from a table where she'd carelessly left it, and I'm not sorry.
First love: cat o'nine tails with sueded strips
Name of the man I first dominated: Marvin. He was from New Jersey.
This brings me to the first domination experience I'd had in Life. Yes, I recall it like it was…well, a long freaking time ago…
I had heard about the Hellfire Club in the meatpacking district of NYC from some friends of mine. "A goldmine," I was told. "Guys paying you to be chained up to a pole."
Money was one motivator, but power was the major one. I was 22, 23 years old? Couldn't wait to test out my newly discovered proclivities in an accommodating atmosphere. The friends who told me about the club offered to meet me there & metaphorically show me the ropes. Having no fetish gear yet, I donned all-purpose black slacks and a tight blouse with screaming red heels. I arrived on time only to find myself a fresh faced, red heeled duckling in a pond of predators. The air was heavy with anticipation. Every female walking through the door was given the thrice-over by the male patrons. And my friends were nowhere to be found. I was scared witless.
Enter Marvin. He was every bit as solicitous as could be; obviously an old hand at this. I pictured him telling his wife he was running out to buy milk, then stealing some time in an S&M club hoping to get lucky. Lenny, the biker turned proprietor of the Hellfire, sensed my floundering attempt at cool & was kind enough to take me on a tour of the club. Here's the spanking table. Note the cuffs chained to the wall. No doors on the individual playrooms, can't have prostitution going on. Marvin clung to the shadows like an opportunistic spider. I was grateful to Lenny for his protective hand but he could only give me but so much of his time. I was left to my own devices. My pals were late late LATE. I was fodder for Marvin.
He approached me. Fired questions at me about everything, further heightening my unease. At last he mentioned a bag of goodies he stashed in his car & was more than eager to bring in for our 'pleasure'. Hence the panties he wore under his L.L. Bean khakis. Hence the object of his choice to be beaten with—a plastic paint stirrer with holes in it. Indeed, Marvin was ready.
I bent him over a wooden sawhorse and went to town. Whaled on him for his insolence. For how uncomfortable he made me. For the fact that my friends were late and if I beat him he'd leave me the hell alone. The words that came out of my mouth I didn't think possible. Oh yes. This was when I realized I could get used to this.
"You're good," said a transsexual who looked just like Courtney Love. She'd been observing from a nearby couch, taking a break between scenes. I felt flattered. I also got rid of Marvin, who drove back to Jersey with a sore ass but not my phone number. The Courtney Love doppelganger and I would become fast friends in the days to come. So the road leading to Marvin yielded something positive.
My pals eventually did show. "I couldn't decide what to wear," the one said. But by then I was well on my way, all by myself. Karen's a big girl now. I wiped the sweat from my brow and officially became the Goddess.

"Listen," the voice, the presence, the whatever it was in Phoebe's head said, but she wasn't sure she was ready for its whole pitch yet. She had some questions.
"Who are you?" she mentally sent to it, cutting it off before it even had a chance to begin. If there was one thing in life she knew well, it was never let a man – and she was certain the presence was male – get started on something they were all excited about. Men could talk endlessly.
"I Am," it said.
Phoebe waited for more, but nothing more seemed to be coming. "You are what?"
"I Am," it said again.
Phoebe shook her head. This was getting nowhere. "Okay," she told it. "Fine. Be all that you can be. But do you have a name or something? Something I can call you?"
"Do not try my patience human," it thundered within her and Phoebe gripped her head to keep it from splitting open.
"All right," she said. "Jezz, don't get your panties all in a bunch. It's just a question."
"What?" Zach asked, and Phoebe jumped at the sound of his voice. She'd forgotten all about him. She looked around and found that the roadster was still on the long and twisted road through the Valley. Apparently they had not gotten to their destination yet and she wondered briefly where he was taking her, but then decided she didn't care. It probably wouldn't be all that interesting anyway. Besides, she didn't have time to worry about Zach and his issues right now, she had much more important things to attend to.
"Nothing, baby," she said, and rubbed his thigh. "I was just agreeing with you."
"If we're going to work together, I need to call you something," she sent to the voice. And she wanted to work with it. She really, really did. Because she was certain the things it could do and show her were beyond even her own imagination. But she just could not have it coming into her head and thinking it owned her or something. That would never, never do.
There was a long pause and she could feel it assessing the situation. She wondered if it was going to agree or if maybe she was taking it too far that it was just going to explode her or smote her or whatever it was evil presences in people's heads did to people that annoyed them. And if that was the way it was going to be, so be it. She was no one's puppet.
"You may call me Aster."
"Good," she sent. "Aster. Now, that wasn't so hard was it?" She felt trying to gear up for its whole pitch again, she could feel its impatience, its almost overwhelming desire to tell her whatever it is it wanted from her, and she wanted to hear it, but she wasn't quite through with her questions yet. "So, Aster, tell me, where the hell did you come from and how did you get in my head?"
