One Good Thing
Loving the new Adele CD, 21. Great stuff! I didn't get 19. I heard, while her voice was brilliant, the material wasn't very strong (though, I must say, I love "Hometown Glory.") Anyway, there's proof that reviews matter, because I have to reserve my hard-earned cash on sure things for the most part. Her new CD, however, is simply wonderful. She nails every song right on the head, starting right out of the gate with "Rollin' in the Deep." Good purchase, Eric! Good on you!

Little Things That Make My Day
Brownies. Chocolate muffins. Brownies AND chocolate muffins! Want to win an argument with me? Shove a chocolate muffin in front of my face. You won't hear a peep out of me for a good ten minutes.
Rolling ball pens. They make writing fun and elegant, even when I'm writing filth.
Chest workouts. It's my favorite workout day because it has always given me the best results. Even now I'm playing with my tits.
Dogs. Big slobbery ones. You're the absolute coolest thing in the world to them. They just want to be loved.
Laughing babies. Those goofy little pooping burping darlings. It's the only time in life you can laugh with miniature villainy, poop in someone's hand, throw up in their mouths, and it still be considered adorable. Trust me.
Random rugby games on television. BBC = Big Booty Central. Yeeeah.
A well-placed cuss word. Cussing can be a meaningful form of expression. But be selective. You want to elicit the right amount of controlled shock to get your point across, but not too much so as to take away from that point.
Refrigerated chocolate chips. Get glass bowl, set them in the refrigerator, and have a handful. Delightful!
Music to the end the day. Before I head to bed, I listen to at least five songs from my music library to settle me down. It gets my head in the right place.
And finally, all I really need is, as Greg Brown sang, "a few good friends and a field across the road."

One Good Thing
I finally did it today. I took all the 24 hour news stations off my Favorites list on my TV so I'm not even tempted to stop by them as I surf past. No CNN, no MSNBC, no HNL. Nothing. As soon as they start offering solutions to all the problems they report on I might tune back in, but until that happens, no. It's gotten to the point where everything is so depressing on the news, without even a glimmer of hope, twisted and manipulated to seem apocalyptic, that I just can't listen anymore. Having lost my faith in the media in the Bush administration anyway, I'm surprised I kept these channels on my daily viewing for this long. It feels good to be rid of them. Not as good as it felt to block Fox News, but still, pretty good.
Remember, if you're in the States (sorry, postage) comment here to be entered to win a signed copy of my newest book Woke Up in a Strange Place. And tomorrow from 1-6 pm I take over the reigns of the Dreamspinner Facebook site, with ebook prizes and chats about anything that pops into my head. Come on by!

One Good Thing
Spent money I shouldn't have today and bought a new jacket. I need one, so it's not something I feel really bad about. All I have are heavy winter coats and it's getting toward the season where coats are too much, but a t-shirt is too little. I do have a blue jean jacket I got years ago from the GAP, but god forbid I ever wear that again. I cannot pull off blue jean jackets. I look like a Coca-Cola ad from the 1980s. Anyway, I really like this new jacket. I got it from the great crew at Inseam. Very nice guys there and I respond to niceness. I'm very loyal.
