One Good Thing

I finally caught Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland on Starz today. Not his best effort, and I say that as an avid Burton fan. It felt...empty to me, and the battle scene at the end fell short of the mark. But I did enjoy certain aspects about the film. The look is, of course, gorgeous, from costumes to sets. Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp are both very good, though I found myself wishing they had developed the Red Queen more. Given her even more scenery to chew. Bonham Carter is more than up to the challenge. All in all, it was a nice bit of Saturday afternoon eye candy.

One Good Thing

I received the pencil renderings for the first 8 pages of the comic book I'm doing with Absolutbleu called "Bubbles & Gordy." They look wonderful! We just need to get the colors and lettering done and then we'll be ready to send it off to Class Comics. It's the erotic horrific comedic tale of a couple of dumb jocks at a small college somewhere in the US and the evil sex hungry demon who terrorizes them. Abs takes my ideas and creates perfect translations. It's like he's in my head. I can't wait to hopefully get this out there for everyone to see. Fingers crossed Class Comics likes them!

One Good Thing

Been listening to Dan Wilson. Who is that, you ask? You've heard him, either his voice or his lyrics and songwriting. Dan Wilson was the lead singer of Semisonic. Most of his music has the tinge of a wistful summer to it. Even the most upbeat songs are held steady by Wilson's melancholic voice. He's also written songs for some great artists. The Dixie Chicks' "Not Ready To Make Nice." He co-wrote that. Presently I am enjoying his first solo album "Free Life." It's readying my heart for spring and summer.

Ophelia--Natalie Merchant

One of the best songs she's ever recorded.

One Good Thing

Porch-sitting days. It was warm enough to sit out on the porch today. There was occasionally a chilly breeze, but that's a hells a lot better than the arctic blasts we've been having. The trees are still bare and the grass is anything but green, but, my gosh, it's pretty out there. It's only supposed to get warrmer tomorrow. We might even see the temps reaching 70. Breakin' out the shorts if that happens.
