One Good Thing
Text messaging. Until recently I only did it occasionally. I am not a technical wizard. Technology has the ability to dumbfound me. I stare, wide-eyed and mouth agape at the contraption, hoping it will somehow figure itself out for me. I haven't the time for it!
But I have found that texting can be an exhilarating experience with the right person. It will never replace one-on-on contact, of course. I like hearing the warmth of a person's voice, whether via phone or closer still. But I now see that texting has its place. Yes. When getting to know someone new, texting can be something wonderful.

I'm going to see Josh Ritter in concert tonight in Kentucky. Here's one of my favorites by this great songwriter.

Kitteh Kitteh has gotten awfully lovey-dovey in her old age. At least towards me. She's around 13 years old, an outdoors cat, and all her life she's been one mean bitch. Anyone who tried to pet her, she'd take swipe at. She let you know when she wanted to be loved on and not a second before. And when she did let anyone touch her it was only on the top of the head, between the ears. Now, however, she can't get enough of me. Everyone else she stills hisses and moans at, but me?
I was just out on the porch, trying to enjoy the day. The daffodils are blooming early and they're very pretty. But Kitteh Kitteh don't care! She wants all my love. She sits on the table beside the wicker chair and nudges at my arm with her head until I relent and give that furry old noggin a continuous massage. I don't know what's gotten into her. Maybe she's edging up on death and wants to get in some quality "us" time. It's very sweet. Don't get me wrong. I'd rather be prodded to pet her than scratched. But still, Kitteh Kitteh is weird.

David Mason is the founder of the ridiculously fun, often NSFW site House of Vader. He's also a well-known artist and designer. I love his eye for things. Extremely talented and sexy, he's also painfully honest in his posts, at times delving into personal memories and calling out the hypocrisies in the "gay community." It's refreshing stuff.

One Good Thing
So, I went to get some new shoes today. I'm not a shoe guy, though it seems I've spent more on shoes in the past two years than I have in my entire life. I have this obnoxious ankle brace that is biting into me like it has teeth. Not fun. I need breathing space in my shoe.
Anyway, I was being fitted by, count 'em, TWO sales people, when one of them, a nice blond woman, asked if I worked out. The cute young guy said, "Are you kidding? Look at his arms!" That made me feel all types of good. Admittedly, I don't have the arms I used to have in college, but they're still decent, if I can say so without sounding like a jerk. To get validation for the hard work I do is nice.
