"Losing My Mind", Liza & The Pet Shop Boys

I forgot all about this strange but wonderful collab between Liza and the Pet Shop Boys. It's a haunting mix of orchestra and train wreck:

One Good Thing

I was working out in the garage/barn/nick-knack holder today, and I apparently had a visitor at the house. I only noticed when I saw their little gold car drive off. I didn't hear them drive up because I had my music on. When I went back to the house, I saw a track in the door. I knew exactly who had been there: the Jehovah's Witnesses. A religion I dumped when I was a teenager. I was so very happy I had missed their visit. You've no idea. I grew up with them. I probably knew the people in th...

12 Songs for Maxie & Miranda

Today, my bestest pals, Maxie and Miranda, celebrate their anniversary, so I thought I'd honor that occasion with a list of songs that remind me of these two precious angels. These are either songs that meant something to them/us, or songs that simply remind me of one or both of them:

"Most of the Time" by Bob Dylan

"Virginia Woolf" by The Indigo Girls

"The First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes

"Empty Chairs" by Don Mclean

"Save Me" by Aimee Mann

"At This Point in My Life" by Tracy Chapman

"Dammit" b...

One Good Thing

I took a rest from my writing and zoned out in front of the television this afternoon. On TCM (I think) they had Judy Garland movies all day long. I have to say that, yes, I admit to that particular gay stereotype. I love the woman. I was watching The Pirate, a 1948 film she made with Gene Kelly, and she looked radiant. But I have to say, my eyes were equally drawn to her handsome costar. That man fit his costume very well. Grrr. I feel a bit guilty being so turned on by him, but hey, Gene Ke...

Hot Shot: Regret

I saw a man this muscular once in an elevator in the Bahamas. He flirted with me! I was only 18 and didn't know what to do - I knew what I wanted to do, but I didn't act on it. Stupid, silly Eric. I adapted the situation to a short story that has never been published. At least my fear was good for something....though, I still want to rip my arms off and beat myself to death with them. I mean, c'mon! Look at that!
