One Good Thing
I was listening to my playlist on the computer today, not really doing much of anything beyond browsing the interweb, when "God Bless the American Housewife" by She Daisy came on. I forgot this song was in my collection, and I was DELIGHTED by its auditory appearance! I'm not a big fan of country music or Desperate Housewives, but there's something about that song that has always made me smile. Ear to ear. I was a singin' right along.

One Good Thing
Somehow, I hurt my lower back this week. Exercise? Sleeping wrong? Who knows. But nothing beats the feeling of relief you get when you sit down and relieve some stress from your back. I know I shouldn't be on my feet too much at all with a hurt back, but that's not an option pour moi. Ah, sweet relief! My silver lining.

Praise For 'The Rest Is Illusion'
Yay!!
Wow. I don't even know where to start. This excellent novel is about a group of college students who are all, without necessarily knowing it, poised at the brink of transformation. It's thoughtful, spiritual, ultimately hopeful, and worth savoring; I'm very glad to have read it.

One Good Thing
Woke up this morning (clearly), and I had a little visitor on my big toe. I felt it crawling around, and my first thought was SPIDER!! That was followed by the appropriately sized seizure. When I recovered I discovered it wasn't a spider at all, but a lightning bug. Awe. So I dragged my ass out of bed, let it crawl up my hand, and deposited said bug outside as gently as possible. It's funny how certain bugs will crawl right up your arm if you let them. The cute lil' bugger! I hope he doesn't ...

On Entertainments
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - A gorgeously styled and written book about a young girl in Germany during WWII. The story is told through the eyes of Death. Haunting and unique, this is going on my "Favorites" shelf.
Fault Line by Barry Eisler - A definite beach read, though, some of the computer jargon left me scratching my head. It doesn't pretend to be any more than what it is: pure entertainment.
The Winter of Mixed Drinks, Frightened Rabbit - Fantastic folk rock from across the pond. High...

One Good Thing
It was a good day for the "writes." I did a sizable chunk on my manuscript "Things I Cannot See" (working title). I've been flip-flopping weeks between "Things", which be a thriller, and a romantic comedy called "The Gardens." I'm not certain when either will be done, but today proved that at least one of them WILL get done. Yay for the "writes"! After these I might start working seriously on a third Jasper Lane book.
