October 20, 2021: Steam Digital Tabletop Fest

The Steam Digital Tabletop Fest is happening online from October 21-26, celebrating tabletop gaming in the digital space. This annual event has been gaining a lot of momentum and is a great spotlight for the many digital implementations of analog games on the platform, including our own Ogre from Auroch Games. Among the many events, Steve will be participating in the Narrative in Wargaming panel on Sunday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. You can follow the event and watch for free on Steam! While you're there, check out Ogre, which will surely be a topic of discussion.

Salut! My name is Rachel, and I'm a new Staff Editor for SJ Games. I mostly do copyediting and proofreading; that is, I correct texts for spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as consistency, clarity, coherence, and conscientiousness. All hail the mighty Oxford comma! On occasion I do developmental editing as well, helping to shape the entire text into the author's intended vision; it all depends on the demands of the individual project and needs of the author. When I'm not wielding my metaphorical red quill, I'm playing one of the many tabletop RPGs I've collected in my 20+ years of gaming; reading my vast library of Tolkien, Gothic, and mannerpunk novels; and spoiling the little jerk on my shoulder. As we continue to ship the Car Wars Sixth Edition Kickstarter rewards, it has been wonderfully satisfying to watch as the game starts to hit tables across the United States. We're keeping a close eye on the Kickstarter campaign's comments, but Kickstarter isn't the best place to connect with other players to discuss the game (and to show off your paint jobs). Fortunately, there's now an unofficial Car Wars Sixth Edition group on Facebook, giving you a great place to share your experiences with the new edition of the classic game of autoduelling.

Warehouse 23 News: The Munchkin Dice Tray Of Desperate Terror

This custom double-sided dice tray has all your favorite Munchkin monsters on the back, while the front features an old scroll motif with the silhouettes of said monsters. Oh, and the rule. (Of course there's a rule!) The Munchkin Dice Tray of Desperate Terror measures 8.6 inches square and has a thick fabric cover over heavy-duty rubber with plastic snaps on the corners.

October 14, 2021: Kickstarter Reports, October 2021 Update

This is our monthly report on the status of active Kickstarter campaigns. As crowdfunding has become a more significant part of our operations, it is important that we communicate the status of all open projects to the world. We always try to provide realistic delivery dates, but there are times when a project ( Car Wars Sixth Edition ) consumes far more of our resources than planned for and delivers late. We never want to be late, but as Shigeru Miyamoto said: "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever."

At the moment, we have three active campaigns and one project that is close to launch. Of the three active projects, two are currently in the fulfillment stage.

For years now, the free GURPS Combat Cards PDF has helped gamemasters and GURPS fans introduce the game to new players. While we utilize Discord for our FnordCon events (FnordCon 4 Virtual is back, November 5-7!), we wanted to highlight some of the game-specific servers that fans have set up and which now host thriving communities of similarly-minded gamers. These are great places to find players for online games of The Fantasy Trip or GURPS , or talk cars for Car Wars . If you haven't used it before, Discord is a tool that works similarly to forums, but its channels are usually dedicated to a particular interest. They also have voice chat and even video options built in, which can be super useful for remote gaming.
