balls profile: Ashish Nehra

Stormed onto the world stage with lankiness and left arm swing. Disappeared into the left arm bowlers Abyss, but is now back occasionally. Is mostly known for not liking to smile, it is believed he will retire soon to play the role of the guy who never smiles behind the main bad guy.  He was called the new Wasim Akram once, and the left armed Glenn McGrath, as of yet no one has called him professor fluffy pants. If you bought an Ashish Nehra that didn't have a warranty, you might have wasted ...

balls profile: Brendan Nash

A small cuddly marsupial from Queensland. Despite his obvious lack of talent, Nash has ferreted his way into international cricket.  He fights hard at the crease in much the same way a stuttering cross eyed mobile phone sales man does when tying to sell you a mobile plan in a shopping centre. Is not actually White, but is the lightest player to play for the windies since some other whitie. Nash has been described as the physical embodiment of a net bowler.

introducing balls' player profiles

After my Andre Russell profile the other day, I got to thinking.

Cricinfo does have profiles for most players, but it isn't always enough.

Some of them are well written, some are not, but they lack a certain editorial flair.

I understand the political ramifications of playing it straight for cricinfo, but I want more.

So I have decided to start writing player profiles.

Ofcourse they will be slightly more factual than Andre's profile, but they'll still fit the general ambience of cwb.

I probably...

England – The most organised side in world cricket

There seems to be an amazing amount of talk about how shit Australia have been of late, but almost none of how good England has been.

This Australian team is similar, although not quite as strong due to injuries, as the teams that steam rolled the West Indies, Pakistan and New Zealand. It isn't a shit team. It also isn't that great.

But look at the way England has beaten it, with ease.

Graeme Swann has not yet bowled 10 overs in either match. That is some luxury as for a long time he has ...

The saddest day in Australian cricket history

I cannot take it any more.

I thought I could get through this moment, but Australia has finally lost any bragging rights with the most embarrassing two losses in cricket history.

These two one dayers, probably the most important one dayers in the history of cricket – or mankind – have shown Australia up as a poor cricket country that just doesn't get it anymore.

there are those that may look back to 07 when Warne & McGrath retired as when Australia started struggling.

Others may look to...

Andre Russell is on the verge of greatness

Until yesterday I had no idea who Andre Russell was.  And today I know little more.

All I know is that he plays cricket, and yesterday he played for West Indies A against Ireland.

In that game he made 64 off 31 balls and then took 6/42.

That was enough for me.

At the very least Russell is the saviour of West Indian, or even perhaps International cricket.

I can see this guy, whom I presume is a big fan of Alberta Cross, travelling around world cricket just tearing it up.

Andre, who probably loves...

Deconstructing Josh Hazelwood – the new tin tin

According to the general media consensus Hazelwood's debut for Australia was encouraging, or promising. Or encourageably promising.

It certainly wasn't shit.

But let us look a little deeper than the words encouraging or promising.

General look:

The best way to describe Josh is as a Country Australian version of Tin Tin who has been feed human growth hormones. He is a large chunk of a lad with the face of a 15 year old who does well at school but dreams of looking cooler.

Pace:

Not quick....

Shahid Afridi is no magician

I knew the Shahid Afridi captaincy would end in tears, but I expected them to be tears of blood or disappointment, not joy.

How has this magnificent clown managed to sloggle together two hundreds in three matches? Magic, voodoo, Tony Robbins? There must be a secret because in the 293 games before that he only managed four hundreds, and he hasn't managed one since 05. So 2 in 3 is pretty good.

While Shahid would be a great, yet creepy, child's magician, I doubt he knows magic. Voodoo would ...

Manoj Tiwary's come back

On Sunday I went down to the Whitgift school to watch India A take on West Indies A.

Whitgift is one of those rich ass English public school that has co much money they now host cricket matches as well.

There were only a few hundred people there, mainly London based Indians or Windians.

Where I was sitting there was about 14 people, and one of them was this old Indian cunt.

I say that, because he is the sort of fan who just fucking whinges.

He was talking about how the team was useless, how i...
