As Unto the Lord
Revelation 5:10 – “…And have made us king and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”
Being a king is a title of authority in the natural. Being a priest is a word on having authority in the supernatural. When you and I understand that, we can partner with Him to bring His will to pass. King Jesus trusts you to steward your authority and bring Heaven to Earth as both.
Declaration: The Lord has given me authority. I will walk in it.
AS UNTO THE LORDJudgment is a sobering topic, especially when it comes to the Bible and you realize that judgment is coming to all of us.
The Great White Throne Judgment is a test of holiness and there is only One who is holy and His name is Jesus. If you have put your hope in the Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus passed that test for you. He has put your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life as if you passed the test.
The second test, The Judgment Seat of Christ, is a test of how you served. This is where you are rewarded.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6
The understanding of being rewarded is faith-based because it’s the Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom. Amen. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3 that Jesus Christ is the One who laid the foundation and you’re building on top of that foundation He’s given you.
“But Pastor Troy, I don’t know anything about a foundation. What foundation?” Well, how about the fact that you’re saved? That’s the foundation of how you live the rest of your life. From there, you do works that introduce people to the Kingdom and that is what you get rewarded for – doing things for others as unto the Lord.
So, will your works die with you or are your works or are you serving in a way that doesn’t come from Texas but it comes from heaven? Serve with love and reflect the Father and you’ll find your rewards stored up for you in heaven.

The Tone of Your Life
Matthew 5:9 – Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Being a peacemaker is not making everyone happy or playing it safe. That’s not Kingdom living. Peace is the authority that breaks the spirit of chaos. You are called to be a peacemaker that speaks up when you would rather fade into the background. Do not remain silent. Discern the Father’s heart and timing. Let Jesus have dominion in your words and actions, and chaos will flee.
Declaration: I’m a peacemaker not peacekeeper. I break the spirit of chaos wherever I go.
The Tone Your LifeMusic is powerful. While we know that God’s voice brought the universe into being, I would challenge that He didn’t so much speak it into existence as He sang it into existence. Kind of like at the end of The Lord of the Rings trilogy when Aragorn is crowned King and sings hope and life into Gondor and its people. Jesus is extravagant that way.
The devil knows how powerful music is. He used to sing the praises of God Almighty before He decided he wanted the power that came along with those hymns. Yes, power! That’s why he’s determined to own the music industry. He knows the power and influence of music, and he’s going to use it keep people from ever knowing God. He’s doing a pretty good job of it too.
So, how do you and I compete with the former choir master of Heaven? With our lives.
If you’re redeemed, the song of your life needs to be all about redemption. People should experience Jesus’ redeeming power just by the tone you set when you walk in the room. As a drop-dead, sold-out Jesus freak, you need to set a standard. You’re not going to be a part of a bunch of worldly junk because you’ve overcome that by the blood of the Lamb and the power of your testimony.
“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD.” – Psalms 40:3
“O sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.” – Psalm 98:1
“Sing to the LORD a new song, sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and those who dwell on them.” – Isaiah 42:10
“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” – Revelation 5:9
The tone you set should be all about God’s goodness. It should be all about hope and there being an answer – and Jesus is His name. Father God, Sir, we come to you right now and we declare Your goodness over our lives. Receive our praise!

Dinner and a Show
Romans 5:8 – But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
There may be people in your life who should love you but, no matter what you do, they just don’t. Praising God and remembering how He loved you in the midst of you not loving Him, is the cure for the hurt and rejection you’ve experienced from those who should have loved you but didn’t. Put your attention on Jesus and those who do love you.
Declaration: I will not dwell on not being loved. The Lord loves me and He is more than enough.
DINNER AND A SHOWThere should be some babies in your spirit that you haven’t seen yet but you know you’re going to see because you’re “expecting.” It’s not about expecting the performance of God – that God has to jump through your hoops. It’s about expectancy born from the heart of God.
What’s real, my friends, is you’re not going to be able to map out His hand, but you can map out His heart. You’re not going to be able to figure out everything God’s going to do and the timing of how He’s going to do it.
If you set up a theology based on all that, you’re going to be disappointed and then you’re going to be mad because you’ll think God failed to perform the way you expected He should.
Understand this: You don’t demand God perform for you. There were people in the Bible who did that – followed Jesus for dinner and a show – and he sent them packing.
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. – John 6:53-54
Jesus offended a large portion of the people following Him and He did it on purpose. He told them that to continue following Him, they’d have to become cannibals! Why? Because their faith was only based on His performance, not His heart, so they missed the true meaning of this prophetic word. John says in verse 66 that “many turned back and walked with Him no more.”
So, your expectancy is not based upon the performance of God. It’s based upon the heart of God. There are times I don’t know what God is going to do, but I know He’s going to do something awesome because I know Him. Many theological, philosophical people try to over-analyze this. It’s quite simple: God is good, satan is bad – all the time.

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 – Paul, Silvanus (Silas), and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you.
2 We always thank God for all of you, remembering you in our prayers 3 and continually recalling before our God and Father your work of faith, your labor of love, and your enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Brothers who are beloved by God, we know that He has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction—just as you know we lived among you for your sake.
6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord when you welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great suffering.
7 As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For not only did the message of the Lord ring out from you to Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone out to every place, so that we have no need to say anything more.
9 For they themselves report what kind of welcome you gave us, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God 10 and to await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead—Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath.
PAUL PREACHED HEAVILY TO THE THESSALONIANS ON THE FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLE OF JESUS DELIVERING US FROM GOD’S WRATH ON THIS PLANET AND THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH
1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 – By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise.
17 After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Chapter 2 presents a profile for effective ministry (both from the pulpit and in our daily lives): this is how you dig in when it comes to serving in the midst of a mess.
1 Thessalonians 2:1 (NKJV) – For you yourselves know, brethren, that our coming to you was not in vain (without results).
Three different markers of ministry: Successful Effective Fruitful
1 Thessalonians 2:2 (NKJV) – But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.
PREACH THE GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL COURAGEOUSLY, EVEN IN THE FACE OF PERSECUTION, HARDSHIP & OPPOSITION
DEALING WITH HATERS Partnering with God on discernment of Spirit, emotional intelligence LEARNING TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS BEING ABLE TO DEFINE THE WIN IN THE MIDST OF THE MESS1 Thessalonians 2:3 (KJV) – For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit.
1 Thessalonians 2:3 (BSB) – For our appeal does not arise from deceit or ulterior motives or trickery. (Avoid impure motives and trickery)
1 Thessalonians 2:4 (KJV) – But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 (BSB) – Instead, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, not in order to please men but God, who examines our hearts
1 Thessalonians 2:4 (ICB) – But we speak the Good News because God tested us and trusted us to do it. When we speak, we are not trying to please men. But we are trying to please God, who tests our hearts.
Paul was saying something amazing. He’s saying, “Look, I’m not doing this because I want something out of you. I’m not doing this because I am trying to get you on my side or form a mob for me. I’m not doing this because any other agenda. I’m doing this because I am putting God first.”
PAUL WAS SOMEBODY WHO PUT GOD FIRST
IT IS VERY HARD EVEN FOR US AS CHRISTIANS TO PUT GOD FIRST BECAUSE IT IS NOT NATURAL.
THIS IS A LESSON WE LEARN AND IT IS THE LESSON THAT THE WILDERNESS TEACHES US.
THE LESSON OF THE WILDERNESS: PUT GOD FIRST AND WHEN YOU LEARN THAT LESSON, YOU MOVE INTO THE PROMISED LAND
This can be a frustrating process.
Who’s on first and what’s on second?
Who’s on first video. IT NEEDs TO SLOWLY FADE OUT ON 3:05 TO 3:10
There are so many things that clamor for our attention and devotion: our jobs, our kids, our spouses, our hobbies—the demands and distractions of life. And we have to be careful not to let them become more important, or more of a priority, than our relationship with God.
How to Establish the Habit of Living for God:
The key to having God’s “abundant life”—His love, peace and joy—is keeping Him in His rightful place in our priorities. God said to Abraham,
Genesis 17:1 (AMP) – Walk [habitually] before Me [with integrity, knowing that you are always in My presence], and be blameless and complete [in obedience to Me].
Notice that God instructed Abraham to be “habitual” in walking with Him and living for Him. We can do this by establishing daily habits of prayer, worship and regular, consistent time spent in His Word.

BEING AWARE WHEN GOD IS INVADING YOUR MOMENT WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE THE NEEDLE FOR THE KINGDOM.
THERE IS A WISDOM TO FORM GODLY HABITS
Habits: Actions that are engrained; that have become natural because of continued repetition. They are the things we do without thinking but accomplish with skill and precision.
The first of the Ten Commandments states we will have no other gods before Him (see Exodus 20:3).
Exodus 20:3 – “You shall have no other gods before me.”
Matthew 6:24 – “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew 22:37-38 – And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
Psalms 90:11-12 – Who knows the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear You are due. So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.
The phrase “number our days” expresses the thought of putting in order, arranging the use of, or prioritizing time because the end of one’s life is fast approaching. Moses wanted us to remember that our remaining number of days grows smaller each day.
If you knew you had a year yet to live, how would that change your priorities?
If you knew you had 50 years yet to live, how would that change your priorities
He reminds us because we rarely make a conscious relationship between sin and our mortality. We are so busy living for the moment that we fail to see a connection between our conduct and our finite lifespan. Moses appeals for help that we might be wise and live by faith, as does Solomon in the book of Proverbs.
Proverbs 4:5-6 – Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will guard you.

Here’s Even Better News!
Job 5:7 – Yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
Bad things will happen until you breathe heaven’s fresh air. That is no reason to be fearful or to change your stand for the Lord. The Bible says you are more than a conqueror. You will have incredible victories and miserable failures. Your life is full of good and bad days, yet the power of God is just as real on both days!
Declaration: God is good when I can see His hand and when I cannot. He never leaves me, especially in times of trouble.
HERE’S EVEN BETTER NEWS!In case you missed it, the Bible says there will be a test on your life. It’s a test of holiness and you can never pass. Yup. No matter how hard you study, no matter how good a student you are, you cannot pass this test.
Before you are overcome with panic wondering why God has set you up to fail, know this: He’s set you up for an A+.
“But Pastor Troy. If I can’s pass but God has set me up for the top score, that doesn’t make any sense. You’ve lost your mind!” My friend, I am sober as a judge when I tell you the Lord Jesus Christ has given you the cheat sheet. Heck, the Lord Jesus Christ IS the cheat sheet!
If you give your heart to King Jesus, He has aced that test for you. The day you gave your heart to Him, He took your test, gave you His A+ score and marked that down in Heaven’s grade book. That’s called the Good News.
Here’s even better news: now you can serve others! When you stand before the Lord, you will be judged on how well you served not so Jesus can scold you or punish you, but so He can reward you for all the awesome ways you brought the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.
When this judgment comes, it will be a good day and not a bad day. He’s going to fit you with some crowns and you’ll see exactly what the King of Kings thinks of you. You’re His hands, His feet, His voice and He is proud of you.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9

Are You an Open Door?
TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 5/6/2023
John 5:6 – When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Have you wondered why Jesus asked the paralytic if he wanted to be made well? King Jesus didn’t look at the circumstances. He looked straight at the man’s heart. We can all play the victim card at times, but Jesus calls you and I higher. He wants you to be an overcomer. Today is the good day to ask Jesus to show you what excuses you need to get rid of; mindsets He is calling you out of. Get up and walk into the good things the Lord has planned for you.
Declaration: I’m not a victim. I live with a vision and I will rise to the occasion.
ARE YOU AN OPEN DOOR?
If you’re going to be a friend of God, the bride of Christ and the temple of the Holy Spirit, you’re going to have to get vulnerable. You’re going to have to get intimate with the Trinity of God and when you do, a kind of romance starts to form.
That comes from the Kingdom. If you’re going to get the secrets of God that catapult you from zero to hero – that define your identity and let you walk in the things the Lord has promised you – you need get into a secret place with Him.
You start conforming your life to Him. It’s being in the Word and in communication with Him so you know His character and His heart. That’s what you conform your own image to. And the measure that you conform your life to His determines the deepness of relationship with Him.
In short, the depth of your relationship with Him determines the depth of your intimacy with Him. The depth of your intimacy with Him determines the secrets that are revealed to you, and let me tell you – the Good Lord has some amazing secrets He wants to let you in on.
But God is also a gentleman. He only goes where He is invited and only enters a door that is open to Him. Are you an open door? If you are and you want to find your identity, purpose and destiny to make a great big impact on this world, you need to conform your life to Jesus’ heart.
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ – Jeremiah 33:3
This is how you know you’re in the deep end with King Jesus: He tells you to call to Him – to invite Him into your life. He promises He will answer you and tell you secrets you didn’t know before you got the guts to send that invitation.
So, what are you waiting for? Send that invitation, open the door and let God in on whatever area of your life you’ve been holding back. He’s got answers to your questions, I promise you that.

Have What it Takes to be Blessed?
TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBERS – 5/5/2023
2 Corinthians 5:5 – Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
It’s no accident you are alive in this day! You are perfect for it because the Lord Himself designed and prepared you for such a time as this – the end times generation. He gave you spiritual gifts and a skillset to bring heaven to earth in the midst of fear and chaos. He put His resurrection power within you. Today is a good day to be fully alive to Him and His purposes for you.
Declaration: Today I will rise and shine. I have the authority to break the spirit of chaos in this day and time. I am perfectly positioned.
HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE BLESSED?
There’s a word that gets thrown around in church a lot that people don’t understand. Oh, they smile and act like they know what it means, but they don’t. Most pastors don’t have a clue so I’ll make it simple for you all today: Whenever you intentionally go after the Kingdom, that’s called consecration.
In the book of Exodus, Moses commanded the children of Israel to get themselves consecrated.
“…Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD…that He may bestow upon you a blessing this day.” – Exodus 32:29
When you seek after God in an incredible way, there are things God doesn’t teach you because He gives them to you. So much of the power of God is not taught, it’s caught.
You have to be at the right place at the right time. You have to accept the appointment. You meet God at a certain time in a certain place and there’s a certain conversation you’re going to have. He’s going to give you a download or an upgrade just because you consecrated yourself to being obedient.
What do you need to get purposeful about? Your marriage or family relationships? Do you need to get consecrated over your finances, business or ministry? Whatever it is, you need to get serious about it and pursue the Kingdom until God bestows – or gives – you a blessing over that thing.
My friend, standing still is going backward. I’ve told you many, many times that comfort kills because it does! It kills hopes, dreams, faith, and upgrade because you were not made to be comfortable. You were made to be consecrated.
You were designed to be an overcomer and a warrior, and that takes guts. It takes grit and action. Do you have what it takes to be blessed?

A Glimpse of the Glory
1 John 5:4 – For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Are you ready for the return of Jesus? To be ready, you must be watching. It’s all about the rule of Jesus. He is coming for His victorious bride. You must be a bride who is prepared, advancing and standing in position of authority. That’s who you were made to be. Heaven and hell are real and must be taken seriously. Be ye watchful. Protect your heart. Don’t give up. Be prepared for Him. Have oil in your lamp. Be an overcomer.
Declaration: I’m an overcomer in Christ and I will lay my crowns at His feet. My faith moves mountains.
A GLIMPSE OF THE GLORYI’m going out on a limb today because I’m just blown away with the majesty of God. The book of Ephesians says best what I want you to understand.
“I pray that you would know what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe…” – Ephesians 1:19
“I pray that you would know…” Know what? That you know through experience what you don’t know through wise words.
There’s something else the Bible talks about that is absolutely indescribable and it’s the majesty of God. Any time you look at the majesty of God, it’s how He rules and reigns, and He rules and reigns way different than anybody else.
He rules and reigns, not by being the toughest because it’s obvious He already is the toughest – not through being the most powerful because He already is the most powerful. He rules and reigns through peace.
Crazy! Absolutely crazy! While the Bible says our enemy, the devil, is the prince of the power of the air – he likes to stir up hell in the atmosphere – Jesus is just the opposite. He’s the Prince of Peace. Where He has dominion, there’s no drama!
Is there drama in your life? Are there places where it’s more like hell than heaven? You need to let Jesus rule and reign in that place. Tell Him, “King Jesus, I believe. I pray that I would know the exceeding greatness of your power.” He’ll show up, I promise you, He will give you a glimpse of the glory.

Each and Every Time
Matthew 5:3 – “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
There is a special blessing that comes from recognizing your need for more of King Jesus and consecrating yourself to His Kingdom. Set yourself apart in a specific way for God to bless you in a specific way. Being poor in spirit is your hunger and thirst for Him, and He promises if you seek Him, you will find him. Be the person who praises in the midst of the storm or who finds confidence to overcome the impossible situation. Have a life committed to His ways and a value for His voice.
Declaration: I’m going after the knowledge and power of God by consecrating myself to the Lord. I am poor in spirit and need more of Him!
EACH AND EVERY TIMESo many people don’t understand this: You only need to get saved once. Once you’re in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you’re in. That ain’t baptism. I don’t care if you get baptized a hundred times. It’s up to you.
“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.” – 1 Corinthians 10:1-2
If you want to know what baptism is all about, this is what baptism is all about: You’ve been a slave and how you’re free. Yes, baptism is about you being a slave to something and God giving you the grace to walk away from that thing and into freedom.
The children of Israel were slaves and one day their deliverer showed up. Because they applied the blood of the Passover lamb they were saved. Remember this: the saving part happened at Passover.
They leave Egypt but when they get to the ocean, the same devils that owned them before chased them saying, “Who do you think you are? Where do you think you’re going? I own you.” It was then that the Red Sea parted and they went down into the water.
The evil dictator and the devils that had always owned them chased them into the water. The Israelites came up out of the water and the devil – the Egyptians – remained. That’s what baptism is all about. Amen.
What owns you? Addiction, anger, adultery? Are you plagued by fear, finances or failure? Take those devils in the water and come up free on the other side and know this: you can do this as many times as you like! The Bible doesn’t have a limit on the number of times you can declare freedom from what’s enslaving you.
God loves a prophetic act and that’s what baptism is – a prophetic act you can do as many times as you want and God smiles on that, He honors that. Saved and need freedom? Baptism is for you each and every time you need it.

Redemption Song
1 Peter 5:2 – Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
One sign of a mature Christian is their constant state of readiness. Peter makes it clear: Your mind needs to be ready. To have a ready mind means to be eagerly prepared to serve. Are you eager and prepared to let some thoughts go and let His thoughts in? Instead of remembering what people have done to you, think about how God loves you and what He has done for you. Because of His great love, you can have a mind ready to serve the Lord and His people. He is always with you and His flock is all around you. Be ready!
Declaration: I let God do great things in my thinking so He can do great things in my life.
REDEMPTION SONGThere are eight verses in the Bible that specifically talk about having “a new song.” If it’s a big deal to God, we’d better make it a big deal in our lives and search out the matter.
A new song comes from a new experience in the power of the Holy Spirit. When you have an encounter with Jesus, that’s supposed to be the new dramatic theme to your life – not the fact that you were molested as a child, abandoned, or that you’ve been addicted most of your life.
Now, I’m not belittling that. Those are terrible things, but they should not be the theme of your life like a scratch on a record that keeps playing the same thing over and over again.
“O sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.” – Psalm 98:1
Each new song should be about a new victory – a new breakthrough. Your life should not be about how you were persecuted, have encountered racists, or that you’ve been poor. Your song should not be about that you went to prison or that you were divorced several times. That’s the song the world sings and it’s not for you.
The dramatic theme to your life is supposed to be about how you are redeemed. God gives you a new song – a redemption song that is all about victory and freedom from that thing that held you captive but no longer has a grip on you.
Sadly, so much of the Body of Christ is stuck like a scratched record repeating over and over again, “My past still defines me. My past still defines me.” It doesn’t have to. The music of your life needs to match the fact that you are redeemed.
Are you redeemed? Are you a new creature because of Jesus Christ? Sing a new song. Put away your history and let the song of your destiny define you.
